1 North Central Minor Hockey Association Information Bulletin 2014 # RE: Gamesheets & Goaltender Stats GAMESHEETS WHAT IS A SHOT ON NET?? Any shot that would have gone in the net if the goalie was not there to stop it. A goal is a shot on net. 1) If the shot is above the net not a shot on net 2) If the shot is wide of the net not a shot on net 3) If the shot goes through the crease (side to side) not a shot on net. 4) If the shot hits the side of the net not a shot on net. 5) If the shot hits the cross bar and comes out not a shot on net. FILLING IN GAMESHEETS: The following information MUST BE ON EVERY GAMESHEET before it is submitted to the governor: 1) Game number (found on NCMHA website with your team schedule- every game played is assigned a game number) 2) Date of game 3) Division and tier 4) Game type (league/tournament/exhibition) 5) Name of both teams playing 6) Arena game is being played at 7) Player roster if player is injured or absent their name must be crossed off the roster. (or omitted if handwritten) If player is suspended that must be indicated beside their name. (SUSP 1/1, SUSP 1/3 etc.) This includes coaches if they are suspended this must be indicated beside their name. ** Players who are also officials cannot officiate games until their suspension is served.** Example 1: A team has 17 players and 2 goaltenders on their roster. Two players are injured and two players are not able to make the game. In this scenario only the 13 participating players and 2 goaltenders are named on the gamesheet. If pre-filled stickers are used, the four players not participating must be crossed off. Following the game, only players participating in the game are entered on the website as playing in that game. Example 2: Player Joe Smith has a 3 game suspension. For each game he serves in his suspension, it will be recorded on the gamesheet as JOE SMITH SUSP 1/3, JOE SMITH SUSP 2/3, and JOE SMITH SUSP 3/3. This player is not entered on the website as playing that game.

2 9) If a team has two goalies, BOTH goalies are listed on the game sheet and starting goalie is identified. (As simple as SG beside his/her name) 10) ONLY team officials carded to the team may be listed on the game sheet. ONLY team officials register to the team are authorized to sign the game sheet. In accordance with Hockey Alberta rules, a team may register more than five team officials, however a maximum of five team officials are allowed on the gamesheet and on the players bench for the game. Some teams choose to register their manager with HCR as a team official; others do not. If the team manager is not registered on the team roster from Hockey Alberta, they cannot be on the game sheet. 11) On-ice Officials (ref and linesman) must sign the game sheet. 12) Off-ice Officials (time box personnel) must sign the game sheet. (Adults only in the time box) 13) All penalties and goals clearly written on game sheet. Penalty abbreviations are found on the front of the game book. These are the only abbreviations to be used. White copy Home team Yellow copy Visiting team Pink remains in game book There are currently two versions of the game book utilized this season. The old book has one line for shots on net, and room for four team officials. If your team has five team officials, place two team officials on one line. If the goalie is pulled, use the blank space next to the NCMHA logo to write down the second goalies stats. The new book which was produced in the fall of 2014 has two lines of goalie stats/shots on net, and room for five team officials. HOW TO ENTER GOALIE STATS: Due to the distribution of mixed game book inventory the following procedure is being implemented in an effort to standardize the goalie stats. This procedure will be applied to BOTH books effective immediately. EXAMPLE: 1) When the visiting team shoots on the home goalie the shot is recorded on the scoreboard on the visiting team side 2) When transferring the shots from the scoreboard to the game sheet the VISITING team shots are recorded on the VISITING team side. 3) When entering the goalie information on to the website the Home goalie shot count is recorded under the home goalie tab, using the total shots listed for the Visiting team (and vice versa). Please indicate your starting goalie. If at any time during the game goalies switch out, the time and shot count for the starting goalie must be recorded. The NEW goalie time start is recorded and their shot count is recorded as it accumulates. The total shot count for the two goalies must equal the total shot count for the game. 3 EXAMPLE #1- OLD STYLE GAMESHEET Simply put, everything the team does is on one side of the gamesheet. In the above example, all of Rocky s players, penalties, goals, and shots, are recorded on their side of the gamesheet, and vice versa for Innisfail. When entering the stats online, the person inputting will just need to know who played goal for each team (or if a goalie was pulled and both played). This is why SG (Starting Goalie) is to be listed next to the starting goaltender. Lastly, they have to remember that the goalie faced the opposing teams shots, not their own.

4 EXAMPLE #2- ENTERING GOALIE STATS ONLINE Using the gamesheet from Example #1, the manager who is entering the game stats on the website would see who played net (as indicated by SG, or in the event both goalies played, as noted on the gamesheet) and input how many goals against (GA), shots faced, and who the winning goaltender is. In this instance, the Rocky goaltender SAWCHUK had 6 goals scored on him, faced 31 Innisfail shots, and is recorded in the manner shown above. The manager would know he faced 31 Innisfail shots, as the Innisfail shots were recorded on the Innisfail side of the gamesheet.

5 EXAMPLE #3- NEW STYLE GAMESHEET New gamesheets have two lines for goalie stats and MP. On the newer style of gamesheet, it allows for the opposing goalie s number to be entered next to the shots they face as well as track minutes played. Keep in mind just like with the old style gamesheet, when entering the stats online, the manager needs to remember that the Maskwacis goalies faced the Coronation shots, and the Coronation goalie faced the Maskwacis shots.
