1 Detroit Mercy Lacrosse Timeline September, A report is presented to the Athletic board about the expansion of varsity sports in the athletic department. A full study on the addition of certain sports was presented as the case study would evaluate all aspects of the sports from budgets to the addition of athletic staff. for the program s first ever goal, taking a pass from senior Michael Schumacher and finding the back of the net. January, The University Board of Trustees approves the addition of three new varsity sports. April 11, With one of the largest crowds in the history of Titan Field on hand, junior Pat O Shea found the back of the net for Detroit Mercy s first goal as the Titans fell to Wheeling Jesuit, 14-7, in the first ever home contest for the men s lacrosse program. Summer, Construction begins on Titan Field. September 5, Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Keri Gaither announced the addition of three sports to Titan athletics in men s and women s lacrosse and men s tennis, with all three beginning in the season. September 24, Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Keri Gaither names Matt Holtz as the first head coach for the new program. Holtz came to Detroit Mercy from Michigan State, where he was the men s lacrosse club head coach from September 25, Coach Holtz embarks on building the Titan program. October, The newly renovated Titan Field, which now includes an A-Turf field, along with a six-lane polyurethane track and areas for the steeplechase and field events, was completed. March 3, The Titans play their first-ever ranked opponent in No. 3 North Carolina, falling May 18, The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Athletic Director Keri Gaither announced that the Titans men s lacrosse program has been accepted as an affiliate member of the MAAC Lacrosse League, beginning with the 2010 season. Detroit Mercy will be immediately eligible for postseason play. October 10, The men s lacrosse team participates in the Annual Nick Colleluori Classic To Benefit Cancer Awareness. February 6, The Titans begin year two of the program with an indoor home game at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac as a crowd of 1,565 fans saw Detroit Mercy drop a close 12-8 contest to Bellarmine. May 9, The University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse head coach Matt Holtz announced the Titans first ever recruiting class, a 17-member group. September 9, The men s lacrosse program practiced for the first time as the team held official tryouts on Titan Field. September 30, Head men s lacrosse coach Matt Holtz announced that seniors Kevin Demorest and Riley Turchetti along with junior Pat O Shea have been named the first team captains in program history. October 12, Detroit Mercy had its first team competition as the Titans scored the first nine goals in a 10-9 victory over Adrian College, before falling, 7-5, to Wittenberg in an exhibition doubleheader in Springfield, Ohio. October 27, The first varsity schedule is released with Detroit Mercy playing 11 games. February 7, A new chapter in athletics started as the men s lacrosse team began its collegiate program in Columbus against Ohio State, falling to the Buckeyes 21-1 at the Woody Hayes Athletics Center. Freshman Scott Harris got Detroit Mercy on the board Scott Harris put the first goal on the scoreboard in Titan history, finding the back of the net at Ohio State.

2 February 12, The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference released its lacrosse preseason poll and the Titans were picked to finish eighth in Detroit Mercy s first year in the MAAC. February 22, The Titans pick up their first-ever MAAC weekly award as Joel Matthews was named the conference s Rookie of the Week. Matthews led the Titan offensive attack in the season opener with four goals, including three of the first four Titan scores of the year. He took a game-high 10 shots with six coming on goal, while also scooping up a pair of ground balls. March 22, It might have been cold, windy and raining in Detroit on a Monday, but there was no better place to make some history as the Titan men s lacrosse team recorded its first win, 16-12, over Presbyterian on Titan Field. Freshman Tyler Staruch scored a program-high five goals and added an assist, while junior Tim Lehto netted three goals and also had a helper. Joel Matthews had a pair of scores and assists, while sophomore Scott Harris and junior Matt Gregson each netted a goal and handed out two assists. Freshman A.J. Levell was the winner in net, stopping four shots, while Rookie Brandon Davenport won 14 of 22 faceoffs and had a team-high seven ground balls. March 22, Seven Titans scored goals, led by freshman Joel Matthews four scores, and rookie netminder A.J. Levell had 12 saves as Detroit Mercy won its second straight game, 11-8, over VMI on Saturday afternoon on Titan Field. The win was also the first-ever MAAC victory for the Titans, playing just their second league game of the season. May 1, The final game of the 2010 season saw Detroit Mercy use a 5-0 run in the second period to overpower Wagner, Eight Titans scored in the victory that moved the team to 3-12 on the year and 2-6 in the MAAC. The offensive barrage was led by junior Matt Gregson, who tallied four goals for his third hat trick of the season. The midfielder ended the year second on the team with 23 markers and 31 points, including 16 goals in the last six games. May 6, After an explosive freshman campaign, Joel Matthews was honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the selection to the All-MAAC second team, The Titan attacker led the team with 37 goals and 48 points and was among the conference Head coach Matt Holtz enjoys a cold bath as the Titans celebrates their first win, 16-12, on Mar. 22, 2010 over Presbyterian. leaders in both those categories. The rookie, who was named Rookie of the Week four times during the season. The Academic All-MAAC team was also announced with six Detroit Mercy student-athletes earning the accolade in Nick Hoye, Brad Janer, Ty Maruyama, John Nowicki, Adam Parrottino and Danny Preston. All six of those players also earned their way onto the MAAC s Academic Honor Roll and All-Academic Team. June 8, The NCAA released the final 2010 men s lacrosse statistics with the University of Detroit Mercy boasting a pair of top 10 marks in the country. Leading the way was an aggressive team defense that finished third in the nation with turnovers per game, trailing only Maryland (11.38) and Syracuse (10.67). Detroit Mercy also placed 17th in saves per game (11.53) and 19th picking up 32.2 ground balls per contest. Individually, freshman long pole Jordan Houtby was sixth in the nation causing 2.13 turnovers per game, a number that also led the Metro Athletic Atlantic Conference (MAAC). Also finishing high on that list was freshman defender Jamie Hebden, who was 25th in the NCAA with 1.6 per game. Offensively, second team All-MAAC honoree Joel Matthews ended the year 14th with 2.47 goals and 36th totaling 3.2 points per game. June 9, Joel Matthews added another accolade for his fantastic season as he was named to the Inside Lacrosse All-Freshman Second Team. The 2010 team MVP and second team All-MAAC performer, Matthews posted seven hat tricks on the season, tied for the seventh most in the country.

3 Detroit Mercy Lacrosse Timeline February 5, The Titans open their third season on the road against No. 17 Delaware, falling to the Blue Hens, Freshman Shayne Adams led the way with his first hat trick in his first collegiate game. February 17, Detroit Mercy faced its secondhighest ranked opponent falling to No. 4 Maryland, 164. Detroit Mercy actually scored the game s first two goals with the man-up from sophomore Chris Nemes and freshman Alex Maini. February 26, Freshman Shayne Adams led nine Titan goal scorers with a school record seven goals as the Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season, 19-3, over Mercer at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. The 19 goals scored by the Titans was a school record as well as the three markers allowed. The seven points by Adams also tied a school record for the most points in a game in school history as the rookie attacker netted at least one goal in every quarter on the day. Sophomore Jordan Houtby also set a Titan record with 11 ground balls, while tying his own school record for the second time causing six turnovers. March 13, Detroit Mercy plays in its first-ever overtime game as the Titans were edged by Robert Morris at home, April 2, Six Titans scored a pair of goals and the nation s second longest home winning streak came to an end as the Titans downed Siena, The win put a halt to Siena s 13-game home winning streak, a number that trailed only Duke s 14. It also ended the Saints 20-game MAAC winning streak which included 10-straight at home - and was the first road win in the history of the Titan program. April 16, Junior Scott Harris found the back of the net with 1:46 to go in overtime as the Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team clinched its first-ever berth into the MAAC tournament with a gritty, 10-9, victory over Canisius on Titan Field. May 1, The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament field was announced with the third-seeded Titans facing No. 2 Marist in one semifinal. The event was held at the Demske Sports Complex at Canisius, the host institution for this year s event. May 5, Five Titans were honored for their play on the field, while another 10 were recognized for their academic excellence as the MAAC announced its postseason awards. The biggest Titan award winners on the night went to sophomore Jordan Houtby as the Long Stick Midfielder of the Year and freshman Shayne Adams as the Rookie of the Year. Additionally, sophomores Jamie Hebden and A.J. Levell earned Tim Shoemaker was named to the MAAC All-Tournament team in second team All-League honors. The Academic All-MAAC team was also announced with Brandon Davenport, John Dwyer, Brad Janer, Chris Nemes, Ty Maruyama, Jason McDonald, John Nowicki, Adam Parrottino, Nick Schesnuk and Wes Steen earning the honor. May 6, Sophomore Jordan Houtby had two goals, including the game winner, and sophomore A.J. Levell played great in net stopping 13 shots as the third-seeded Titans advanced to the MAAC Championship with a 9-8 victory over second-seeded Marist. Detroit Mercy once led 6-1, but the game was tied at 8-all to begin the fourth and off a face-off victory, junior Scott Harris found Houtby who rifled one in between the pipes for what turned out to be the last goal of the game with 14:47 left. May 8, The Titans fought hard, but playing without their leading scorer, it was an uphill battle as Detroit Mercy fell 12-3, to top-seeded Siena in the MAAC Championship. Detroit Mercy played the game without MAAC Rookie of the Year and the nation s freshmen leading scorer in Shayne Adams, who injured his left knee late in Friday s semifinals victory over Marist. Following the game, three Titans were selected to the All-Tournament team in sophomores A.J. Levell, Jordan Houtby and senior Tim Shoemaker.

4 June 1, The aggressive defense that Detroit Mercy has imposed for two straight seasons reached the pinnacle of Division I as the men s lacrosse team led the nation in caused turnovers in 2011 with per game. Sophomore Jordan Houtby was second in caused turnovers at 3.25 per game and 11th in ground balls picking up 6.06 per game. Sophomore Jamie Hebden was fifth in caused turnovers at 2.5 per game, while his 40 total caused turnovers were the fifth-most in the country. Sophomore goalie A.J. Levell was 13th posting saves per game, while freshman Shayne Adams was 13th with 2.33 goals per game. His 35 goals led all Division I freshmen and was second in the MAAC and tied for 13th in the country. February 3, The Titans were picked to finish first in the MAAC s preseason poll. February 12, In front of a sold-out jam packed crowd of 1,800 fans, the Titans used a third-period surge to down Michigan, 13-9, at Ultimate Soccer Arenas on Sunday afternoon. It was the first meeting between the two schools and the first-ever DI game for the Wolverines. Sophomores Alex Maini and Joel Matthews each had five points, while sophomore Shayne Adams tallied four goals. February 15, The watch list for one of the most prestigious awards in collegiate lacrosse was announced and Detroit Mercy sophomore Joel Matthews was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Matthews becomes the first Titan to ever be selected to the watch list. February 24, One of the most popular sports magazines in the world features a glossy photo of a Titan as a picture from Detroit Mercy s game at #6 North Carolina was published in the week s edition of Sports Illustrated. The picture taken by Will Bratton shows sophomore Joe MacLean with a great hit on defense on UNC s Joey Sankey. March 17, Detroit Mercy started the day with four goals in the first five minutes and ended with a season high 17 as the Titans stormed past Canisius, 17-12, in the MAAC opener for both schools at the Demske-Sports Complex. The 17 goals by Detroit Mercy were the second-most in Titan history following the 19 they scored against Mercer last season in a 19-3 win. April 21, Prior to a game against Bellarmine, the Titans honored their first-four year senior class as Jon Bemben, Scott Harris, Brad Janer, Tim Lehto, Ty Maruyama, Jason McDonald, Adam Nolan, John Nowicki, Adam Parrottino and Danny Preston were recognized at midfield for pregame festivities with their parents and family. Adam Parrottino was a three-time MAAC All- Academic Team selection as well as a fourtime member of the AD s Honor Roll. May 3, Junior Jordan Houtby was selected the Long Stick Midfielder Of The Year for the secondstraight season and two more Titans earned All- League honors as the MAAC released its yearly awards. Sophomore Shayne Adams and junior Jamie Hebden earned Second Team All-MAAC honors, while 15 Titans were named to the Men s Lacrosse All- Academic Team. May 29, For the second year in a row, the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse aggressive team defense propelled the Titans to lead the nation in caused turnovers with caused turnovers per game. Leading the way in that category was junior Jordan Houtby as the MAAC LSM of the Year was second in the nation also for the second year in a row - producing 2.53 per game. August 31, Senior Jordan Houtby was selected to play for Team Canada in the Duel in Denver against Team USA on September 8, at Dick s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. The Duel in Denver was a rematch of the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship gold-medal game, in which Team USA defeated Canada, 12-10, in Manchester, England, and it serves as a prelude to the 2014 FIL World Championships. The U.S. and Canada have met in the championship game in the last four FIL World Championships.

5 October 2, Former Detroit Mercy attackman Joel Matthews was drafted by the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League. Matthews ( ) was taken in the fourth round 31st overall - by Buffalo becoming the first Titan to ever be drafted in the ranks of professional lacrosse. December 4, Titan senior LSM Jordan Houtby garnered preseason Honorable Mention All-American honors by Inside Lacrosse. The list was made available as part of the 2013 Inside Lacrosse s Face- Off Yearbook as he became the first Titan to earn that preseason honor. A week later, Houtby along with senior defenseman Jamie Hebden, junior attackman Shayne Adams and junior defensive midfielder Nick Garippa were all honored on the Inside Lacrosse Coaches Preseason All-Conference team, while the Titans were picked to finish fourth in the MAAC. February 20, Junior attackman Shayne Adams was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list and two days later, senior Jordan Houtby was selected as a candidate for the 2013 Senior Class Award, the first Titan to ever appear on that list. March 23, Senior Jamie Hebden broke the school record with seven caused turnovers and eight different Titans found the back of the net as Detroit Mercy outgunned VMI, Hebden broke the school record of current teammate Jordan Houtby who has had six on five different occasions as he led a defensive charge that caused 20 turnovers and forced VMI into 29 miscues on the day. The 20 caused turnovers tied for the second most in school history. April 17, The much-hyped interstate battle between the Detroit Mercy and Michigan men s lacrosse teams produced so much energy, lightning was all over the scene as the Titans game against the Wolverines was suspended and later cancelled due to inclement weather. It was 4-3 Titans with 6:32 left in the second period when the second lightning delay sent teams off the field. April 27, Detroit Mercy needed a win in its final regular season game to make the MAAC Championship and it got that on Senior Day as the Titans scored the game s first four goals, seven alone in the first period, to earn the fourth and final seed with a 13-7 victory over Canisius. Ten different Titans scored a goal, while senior goalie A.J. Levell made a season-high 18 saves in net. May 2, Detroit Mercy took home a number of accolades, highlighted by senior Jordan Houtby as the Co-MAAC LSM of the Year, and a league-high 18 student-athletes earned All-Academic Team recognition at the Annual MAAC Championship Senior A.J. Levell stuffs Marist s Jack Doherty for one of his 17 saves as the Titans stunned the top-seeded Red Foxes, 7-6, in the 2013 MAAC Semifinals. Banquet. Along with Houtby, senior Jamie Hebden was selected All-MAAC First Team on defense, while senior A.J. Levell, junior Alex Maini and sophomore Mike Birney were tabbed Second Team at their respective positions. In addition, freshmen Paul Bitetti, Andy Hebden, Damien Hicks and Nick Melucci were named to the All-Rookie Team. A total of 60 studentathletes comprised the 2013 MAAC Men s Lacrosse All-Academic Team with 18 of those members wearing the red, white and blue with the next highest team being Canisius at 11. May 3, Senior goalie A.J. Levell made 17 saves and sophomore Mike Birney tallied three goals including the game winner - as Detroit Mercy upended top-seeded Marist, 7-6, in the MAAC Semifinals on Friday night at the Demske Sports Complex on the campus of Canisius. With the win, Detroit Mercy advanced to the MAAC Championship title game for the second time in school history. The 17 saves was one away from his season high and two away from his career mark as he was named the Pepsi MAX Player Of the Game, while Birney posted his fourth hat trick of the season including the game winner with 1:25 left. The Titan defense limited the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Connor Rice to just two points on a pair of assists and the conference leading Red Foxes offense at goals per game to just six goals.

6 May 5, Sophomore Mike Birney tallied a career-high five goals, but none more important than the last one as his game winner two minutes into overtime was the golden goal as Detroit Mercy mounted a huge comeback to defeat Siena, 11-10, to win the MAAC Championship. The game was a rematch of the 2011 MAAC Championship won by Siena, The win also gave the fourth-seeded Titans an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship for a program that is in its fifth year of existence and just its fourth year in the MAAC as they tied Bryant (2013) as the quickest programs to ever reach the NCAA Championship. The MAAC Most Outstanding Player went to Birney with his five goals in the game which also tied a career high with five points - and three in the semifinals. It looked like Detroit Mercy was going to get run out of the championship game as Siena scored seven of eight from the midpoint of the first period to the 5:05 mark in the second, but trailing 9-4 early in the third, the Detroit Mercy offense started to rev up with five-straight goals. May 5, Nearly six hours after winning its firstever MAAC Championship, the Titans found out that it would play at No. 2 seeded Notre Dame in the NCAA First Round live on ESPNU and WatchESPN.com. May 6, After a thrilling MAAC Championship come-from-behind win and by ousting the top seed in the semifinals, men s lacrosse took on a national stage as the Titans were in the Others Receiving Votes category in the latest Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. It was the first time in school history that Detroit Mercy has appeared in the weekly poll. May 11, The men s lacrosse team s first-ever game in the NCAA Championship almost proved to be a historic one, but a fourth-period rally by #2 Notre Dame saw the Fighting Irish erase a Titan lead as Detroit Mercy fell, 9-7, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Arlotta Stadium. The game was broadcast live on ESPNU. It was also the firstever meeting between the two schools. Junior Alex Maini had a pair of goals and assists and sophomore Brandon Beauregard tallied his first career hat trick on the day. Senior A.J. Levell made 10 saves in net, including five in the fourth, and senior Jordan Houtby has three caused turnovers and a game-high nine ground balls. Detroit Mercy led 7-3 going into the fourth as the Titans had Notre Dame on the grips of an upset, but six-straight goals by the Fighting Irish in the final 15 minutes was the difference in the game. The Titans celebrate their 2013 MAAC Championship. May 20, Senior Jordan Houtby left a legacy on the field as the current record holder in caused turnovers and he was also was recognized for his efforts in the classroom as the Titan LSM was named to the 2013 Scholar All-American Team by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). The first-ever Titan to earn this honor, Houtby was the only member of the MAAC on this year s team as the graduate posted a GPA in business with a concentration in marketing. May 23, Jordan Houtby became Detroit Mercy s first USILA Scholar All-American and now he added another school First to his collegiate resume with a selection to the 72nd United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld North- South Games, played at Edith Robb Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa. The games brought together 128 of the finest senior lacrosse players in the country for one final game to end their collegiate career in a tradition that began in the 1940 s. Houtby - who suited up for the South Team - was one of six MAAC players in the contest. June 3, For the fourth year in a row, Detroit Mercy was among the top three in the nation in caused turnovers. Also released was the final Nike/ Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the Titans ended the years in the receiving votes category, the first time in its five-year history that it has ended the season in a national poll. The Titans finished tied for second with Navy at per game, trailing only Robert Morris (11.27). It was also the fourth-straight season that Detroit Mercy had a player in the top six in the nation in caused turnovers as senior Jamie Hebden was second in the nation in caused turnovers at 2.53 per game trailing only Villanova s John LoCascio s 3.79 while senior Jordan Houtby was sixth in the nation at 2.33.

7 September 16, Make it two straight years that a Titan was drafted to play professional lacrosse as former University of Detroit Mercy standout and three-time MAAC LSM of the Year Jordan Houtby was drafted by the Minnesota Swarm in the fourth round (29th overall) of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) draft, held at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario. October 22, Detroit Mercy had both its men s and women s lacrosse teams featured in the November issue of Lacrosse Magazine as senior Troy Dennis of the men s lacrosse team graced the cover while working out at Detroit Mercy. Inside the magazine, a feature on Detroit Mercy lacrosse called Motor City Moxie talks about the strength and conditioning of the Titans and the work done off the field in addition to the championship runs from both teams in the 2013 season. Junior Mike Birney of the men s team and sophomore Kylie Birney of the women s lacrosse team, Mike s sister, were also featured in the November issue. January 31, It was a special night in historic Calihan Hall as the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team raised its 2013 MAAC Championship banner and received its championship rings on Friday night during halftime of the men s basketball game against Cleveland State, which was televised by ESPNU. Members of last year s squad were back along with family and friends as they gathered for a pre-game reception in the Titan Club. At halftime, the Titans took center stage with the banner raising and the presentation of the MAAC Championship rings. February 19, The University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team came back from an early deficit and then forced overtime with a late rally, but Michigan was able to net the game winner as the Titans fell to the Wolverines, 14-13, in overtime in front of a record crowd of 1,909 at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. The 1,909 is also believed to be the largest crowd for any Olympic sport at Detroit Mercy. February 20, Senior Troy Dennis of the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team received a great honor as he was one of 20 NCAA lacrosse student-athletes who excel both on and off the field and were selected as candidates for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate men s lacrosse. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence community, classroom, character and competition. Troy Dennis takes part in the 73rd Annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I/II North-South Game in April 5, Junior Shayne Adams had six goals and seven points and freshman Jason Weber set a school record with 23 saves as the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team roared back to a victory at home in a late Saturday morning MAAC showdown.the six goals was a season high for Adams who tied his career best with seven points as the all-time leading goal scorer in Titan history reached the 100-goal plateau and now has 105 in his career. Detroit Mercy trailed 5-1 in the first marking the second biggest margin overcome by the Titans behind the 9-4 score against Siena in the 2013 MAAC Championship, while Detroit Mercy also tied a school record with 10 assists. April 14, Junior Troy Dennis was named the male Reverend Nobert Heutter Award winner, presented to a male and female student-athlete who has demonstrated leadership, dedication, cooperation with teammates and coaches, pride in team achievements, determination to excel, and graciousness in victory or defeat, while junior Shayne Adams earned the Dad Butler award - presented to a student-athletes who showed dedication to practice and having the ability to rehabilitate an injury to his or her fullest capabilities at the Annual Academic & Athletic Awards Dinner. April 26, Junior Shayne Adams tied his season high with six goals and his career-high with seven points and the Titans did what it needed to do with an 11-6 road victory at Monmouth on Saturday afternoon, which helped Detroit Mercy clinch a playoff spot. The win was the sixth of the year for the Titans, tying a school record for the third time, while Adams also had six goals and an assist against Marist earlier in the year and seven points versus Mercer in 2011.

8 April 30, Freshman goalie Jason Weber was named the MAAC s Rookie of the Year and the Defensive Player of the Year and for the third-straight season, the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team led the league in All-Academic selections as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference held its championship banquet at Marist College, the site of the 2014 MAAC Championship. Weber also named to the All-Rookie squad - was MAAC First Team as was junior Shayne Adams at attack and sophomore Paul Bitetti at defense, while juniors Mike Birney and Scott Drummond were tabbed Second Team at midfield. The five All-League Titans mark the most in one year in school history. The MAAC also announced that a total of 58 athletes comprised the All-Academic Team with Detroit Mercy leading the way with 19 selections. May 20, For the second-straight year, a Titan will be on display in one of the longest traditions in college lacrosse as senior Troy Dennis was selected to play in the 73rd Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld North-South Games. The all-star game for Division I/II was held on Championship Monday, May 26, at 10:00 a.m., at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, just prior to the 2014 national championship. The full event featured 128 seniors from all three levels of NCAA collegiate lacrosse as the student athletes officially close out their college career. Playing for the South, Dennis was one of just two players from the MAAC in the all-star game as Quinnipiac goalie Gill Conners was on the North team. He recorded a ground ball and a caused turnover as the South won Tom Schreiber. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.to be eligible for the award, a studentathlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence community, classroom, character and competition. May 27, It was a record-setting year for the Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team as the Titans officially set a new standard for man-up offense with the release of the final 2014 NCAA statistics. Detroit Mercy broke North Carolina s 29-year old record in man-up offense efficiency (.586) as the red, white and blue completely dominated the mark scoring at a.708 clip, converting on 34-of-48 opportunities. Back in 1985 when the Tar Heels claimed the record, they were 41-of-70 in 13 games. In conference play alone, Detroit Mercy was 12-of-16 (.750) and that didn t include its 2-for-2 total in the MAAC Championship Semifinals. Six players contributed to the 34 manup goals led by junior Shayne Adams school-record 14, while senior Alex Maini had seven, junior Mike Birney netted six, juniors Brandon Beauregard and Scott Drummond had three apiece and senior Tom Masterson came away with one. May 24, The end of the year accolades keep rolling in as 2014 graduate Troy Dennis of the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team earned Senior CLASS Award First Team All-American on Saturday. The first and second teams were announced today along with the 2014 Senior CLASS Award winner in Princeton s All-American midfielder Brandon Beauregard helped Detroit Mercy set an NCAA record in man-up offense with three goals with the extra-man attack.

9 The extra-man unit wasn t the only Titan on top as freshman Jason Weber the MAAC s Rookie and Defensive Player of the Year led the nation with a pair of school records finishing with saves per game and a.642 save percentage. The netminder made 179 total saves tying a team record and was 16th in the country and first in the MAAC with a 9.07 goals against average. He posted double digit saves in all 11 games he saw action in with at least 15 in eight games and a school record 23 in a win over Marist in the regular season, which was the second most stops on the year in Division I. As a team, Detroit Mercy was also No. 1 in the NCAA in saves per game (16.07), while ending 17th in assists per game (6.50), 19th in caused turnovers per game (7.79) and 20th in man-down defense (.673). Adams finished the year fifth in Division I and leading the MAAC with 3.00 goals per game. He poured in a MAAC-best 42 goals to go along with 49 points both school records and his 3.50 points per game was 30th in the nation. Sophomore Paul Bitetti ended the year 12th in DI and leading the conference with 1.85 caused turnovers per game, while senior Alex Maini was 20th in the country tallying 1.86 assists per game as he set a Detroit Mercy record with 26 total helpers on the year. May 30, The first coaching change in Titan history occurred as Matt Holtz announced his resignation after six seasons. Holtz compiled a overall record and a mark in MAAC play during his tenure. Assistant coach Chris Kolon took over as interim head coach just a few days later. July 14, University of Detroit Mercy Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. removed the interim tag and announced that Chris Kolon as the new men s lacrosse head coach. Before serving as the interim head coach for two months, Kolon spent the previous six seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Detroit Mercy, helping transform a start-up program that was winless in its inaugural campaign to a MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance just five years later. July 15, For the third-straight year, the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team swept both academic categories as the Titans had 26 student athletes named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll. The Titans led the seven-team lacrosse league in selections with 26. Canisius had the second most at 18, while Manhattan had 16 and Monmouth 14. Chris Kolon took over as head coach in the summer of 2014 after serving as assistant coach for six seasons. Back in May, Detroit Mercy topped the MAAC with 19 student athletes earning their way onto the MAAC All- Academic Team. February 7, Seven Titans scored goals and a fourth quarter run was just enough as the Titans defeated Ohio State, 9-8, in front of 1,363 fans at Ultimate Soccer Arenas. The game marked the head coaching debut for first-year head coach Chris Kolon. The win was the first by the Titans over Ohio State in six career meetings as the Buckeyes - who were receiving votes in both the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the USILA Coaches Poll - came to the Great Lakes State for the first time. It was also a win for a program in just its seventh year and one that has just 16 upperclassmen on its 47-man roster. The game was tied at 6-6 with under seven minutes left when Detroit Mercy ran off three-straight goals. February 24, For just the second time in program history, Detroit Mercy received votes in a national poll as the Titans were listed in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coach s Poll. The only other time that has seen Detroit Mercy in a national poll was on May 6, 2013, after it won the MAAC Championship and received votes in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. February 27, Senior Shayne Adams became the school s all-time points leader as Detroit Mercy fell to No. 16/17 Marquette, 12-6, on Friday afternoon at the Midwest Classic at Bellarmine. Adams had two goals on the day giving him 147 career points, passing former teammate and current assistant coach Alex Maini for the school record. He also owns the Titan goal record with 126. He came up with his record breaker with 11:27 on the clock in the fourth to cut the deficit to four, 10-6.

Weber s 28 saves broke his mark of 23 he had in a win over Marist in 2014 and appears to tie a MAAC single-game record with 28 that Dan Morrissey of St. Joseph s had against Delaware on Feb. 14, March 12, The lacrosse world fans spoke and a Titan was at the top of their list as University of Detroit Mercy sophomore goalie Jason Weber was voted Inside Lacrosse s Player of the Week on Wednesday, March 11. Weber received more than 27.0 percent of the fan voting in becoming the first Titan in school history to earn the honor. April 11, Freshman Mark Anstead capped a huge comeback victory for Detroit Mercy as the Titans ended the game on a 5-0 run to upend Monmouth, 9-8, at Titan Field. The win was the biggest fourth quarter comeback victory in Titan history. The Titans found themselves down 5-2 at the half and 8-4 heading into the third when the red, white and blue began the thrilling win. Detroit Mercy got within 8-7 and then the defense held off Monmouth as the Hawks went on offense for nearly four minutes, and after firing numerous shots, junior Jordan Yono was able to get the ball back with a caused turnover. Senior Scott Drummond knotted it up with 4:55 on the clock and Anstead put in the game winner with 2:18 left. The Titan defense had to hold off Monmouth s charge again and even killed a one-minute man-up situation for the Hawks with under two minutes to go. teams in the nation unblemished at home. April 29, Six Titans earned All-Conference honors and for the fourth-straight year, Detroit Mercy led the MAAC in All-Academic selections. Seniors Shayne Adams and junior Paul Bitetti were selected All-MAAC First Team, while seniors Mike Birney and Scott Drummond, sophomore Jason Weber and freshman Mark Anstead were tabbed All-MAAC Second Team. Anstead was also named the Rookie of the Year and to the All-Rookie Team along with redshirt freshman Pat Masterson. The Titans had 16 members on the All-Academic Team leading the conference once again. Canisius followed with 15 student-athletes, while Monmouth had 12 studentathletes. Brandon Beauregard, Kyle Beauregard, Mike Birney, Paul Bitetti, Lucas Ducharme, Connor Flynn, Joe Gifford, Andy Hebden, Seth Horwat, Pat Masterson, Chris Perry, Chris Shevins, Thomas Sible, Brian Smith, Mike Spuller and Alex Wilson all earned the academic distinctionthe accolade was the fourth time Sible has been an All-MAAC Academic selection, while Beauregard, Birney, Gifford and Shevins were three-time All-MAAC academic selections in their career. April 18, Sophomore Brad Harris s strike with 33 seconds left was the golden goal as Detroit Mercy shocked the Siena Saints, 14-13, on the road. Detroit Mercy erased a number of deficits on the day, including to start the fourth and a 5-0 run by Siena to begin the contest. The seventh victory on the season set a new school record for the Titans as they had posted six wins three times. It also assured the red, white and blue of its first non-losing season in the program s seven-year history. It was also the thirdstraight game that Detroit Mercy has pitched a shutout in the final period outscoring Marist (1-0), Monmouth (5-0) and now Siena (4-0). April 25, The Titans needed a win to make the MAAC Championship and Detroit Mercy took care of business early scoring seven-straight goals en route to an 11-6 victory over Canisius at home. The win moved Detroit Mercy to 8-5 on the season with the eight wins assurring its first winning campaign in the program s seven-year history as well as kept the Titans undefeated at home at 6-0, one of only eight Thomas Sible earned MAAC All-Academic Team honors four time in his career.

11 May 26, For the secondstraight season, a Titan was atop the national statistics as sophomore goalie Jason Weber led the nation in saves per game. Weber topped the country with a mark as he posted a school record 202 stops on the year. He also had the Division I single game high in 2015 as he made 28 saves against Mercer on March 4, tying a MAAC record that was set in Weber was also third in the nation and second in the MAAC with a.589 save percentage. Last season as a true freshman, Weber led the nation with saves per game and a.642 save percentage. He is still the only Titan to lead the nation in a national statistic. May 11, The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) announced that men s lacrosse junior Greg Marzec as a 2016 All-American Athlete Award recipient. The award recognizes Marzec s athletic accomplishments and his dedication to strength and conditioning. June 10, Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse junior Ben Gjokaj (had a dominating season in the conference at the faceoff X as he ended up leading the MAAC in faceoff winning percentage with a career-high and school record 56.6 percent (74-of- 133), which included an astounding 68-of-108 (62.9%) mark in MAAC play.

12 June 13, Senior Paul Bitetti was named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). Bitetti was one of just three MAAC studentathletes to receive the prestigious accolade and just the second Titan to ever earn the honor joining Jordan Houtby back in Oct. 22, Senior Jason Weber played with Team Canada at the first stage of developing the Canadian National Team for the 2018 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships. Weber was part of the Canadian National Team s exhibition games against the University of Denver on Oct. 22 and the Air Force Academy on Oct. 23. The event was part of a process that will help form Team Canada for the FIL World Championships, which will be held in England. Canada is the defending champion after defeating Team USA, 8-5, in Dec. 14, Two Titans who helped the University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse team capture a MAAC Championship and set a school record for wins had the opportunity to continue their careers professionally as Mike Birney and Paul Bitetti were both chosen in Major League Lacrosse s Supplemental Draft. Birney was selected in the 11th round, 98th overall, by the Ohio Machine, while Bitetti was tabbed in the 13th round, 109th overall, by the Atlanta Blaze. Feb. 11, Sophomore Matthew Vangalen tallied five points as the Titans fell, 14-8, at RV/No. 17 Ohio State in its season opener at the Woody Hayes Complex.Vangalen posted two goals and three assists in the game and the five points were the most ever by a Titan in their debut and the most ever by a Titan in a season opener. Feb. 15, Nine different Titans found the back of the net and Detroit Mercy scored the last five goals, but it wasn t enough as the men s lacrosse team dropped a decision to Michigan in front of 1,537 fans at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. It was the fourth largest crowd in Titan history following the 1,909 and 1,800 against Michigan in 2014 and 2012, respectively, and the 1,565 fans when the Titans took on Bellarmine in Mar. 3, Freshman attacker Seth Mendell tied a single-game record with six goals as Detroit Mercy used a strong start and finish in a victory over Bellarmine at the Midwest Classic.Mendell tied the single-game record with six goals, set by former Titan standout Shayne Adams. Aug. 19, Three former University of Detroit Mercy men s lacrosse players won a professional championship as Mike Birney 15, Brandon Davenport 13 and Chris Shevins 15 were part of the MLL champion Ohio Machine. The Machine defeated the Denver Outlaws in Frisco, Texas, to capture the Steinfeld Trophy. Feb. 18, The Titans found themselves in a 5-0 hole in the second and a 7-2 deficit in the third, but staged an epic comeback with three goals in the final 4:23 before the game-winner in overtime as Detroit Mercy surged past Mercer, 8-7. The five-goal deficit is tied for the biggest rally in school history. Feb. 18, Fresh off a come-from-behind victory at Mercer and scoring not only the game-tying goal, but also the winning score, freshman Brett Erskine was tabbed the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday. Twenty of the top NCAA men s lacrosse student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates today for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate lacrosse. Mar. 24, Freshman Brennan Kamish posted two goals but they were the biggest scores of the game as the rookie tied the contest and then netted the game-winner in overtime as Detroit Mercy men s went on the road and knocked off the defending MAAC champion Monmouth Hawks, 9-8. Apr. 14, Junior Matthew Vangalen broke a Titan record with 11 points and tied another pair of school records with seven goals and four assists as the Titans cruised past Manhattan, 18-8, at Gaelic Park. He took just nine shots in the game with eight on goal and had his sixth career hat trick just midway through the first. His 11 points and seven goals were the most by any player in the MAAC this year and tied for the fifth most in the NCAA on the season.
