1 12U Practice 12 Time: 60 Minutes Number of Players: 30+ Equipment Required: 5 Nets, 25 ones or Tires, 3 Dividers, 75 Pucks, 8 Ringettes Warm Up: 10 minutes 1) 4 lines as shown Players skates up ice forward pumping arms front to back, good pivot backwards with shoulders level and facing up ice then skate backwards using c-cuts with top hand on stick and bottom hand in front of body 2) 2 lines on same end of ice in corners Players skate a crossover course up the ice skating thru turns When turning to backhand keep 2 hands on stick and when turning to forehand side keep top hand only on stick (oalies skate or individual work) oalies Stations: 5 Stations 8 minutes (40 mins) n the whistle to change station, players will do 3 jump squats oaches distribute water at each station as the players arrive Station 1: 2 v 2 with Shooter 2 on 2 game in small area with a Shooter stationary above the dot who is on offense for both teams All players can score Encourage creating passing lanes, going to net with stick down and shooting to score! oach spots new puck in play as necessary hange every 45 seconds Station 2: AB s bstacle ourse Race Set up a loose puck race that has the players turn, stop & start, pivot, and jump obstacles Whoever gets to the puck first has a chance to score on the goalie Start the net two players when group in front is half way through the course : 3 Shot Drill 1) Stationary catch and shoot a pass from your partner 2) o to net for redirect/1-time from partner 3) Push off/unjam from front of net and catch and shoot a 3 rd pass from your partner Work on good passes and quick release : Shuttle Passing Player skates with puck and makes a good pass to player in opposite line and then races to back of that line Player catches pass and repeats Progress to forehand only passes, sauce, escape, cross body backhand passes Station 5: Stickhandling 4 minutes with ringettes then 4 minutes with pucks Wide fake, double fake, spin, player choice (creative) Encourage eaggerated fakes and good head and shoulder fakes Station 1 S Station 5 Station 2 Last 10 minutes: 3 Zone ame Must move pucks 1 zone at a time to teammates in net zone Encourage communication, making plays and scoring goals! Keep 3-4 pucks in play

2 12 U Practice 34 Number of Players: 30+ Equipment: 4 Dividers and 2 ones Time: 60 minutes Warm Up: Free Play - 3 minutes Let player move and freely handle pucks on their own Encourage eperimentation with different moves Transition Skating with Pucks 7 minutes Players face the far end on the ice while skating forwards to backwards around the circles and dots Players also must do a 360 degree spin between each circle or dot Attack Patterns with Agility 10 minutes Players perform several different agility maneuvers down the ice until they get to the offensive blue line Then they run through a series of different attack patterns before shooting on goal A) Fake coach inside out B) Fake coach outside in ) Fake and escape/delay D) Fake, escape/delay and cycle puck for give & go D B Stations: 2 Stations 10 minutes 2 n the whistle to change station, players do two forward roles before moving on to the net activity oaches distribute water at each station Station 1: 1v1 ap Up (Body ontact) Player begins by skating down the boards and passing to Player skates around the face-off dot and receives a return pass from then skates back into NZ and around the cone Player gaps up to play 1v1 back As the 1v1 crosses the blue line the net players start Station 1 A Station 2 Station 2: Tight Space 1v1 (Body ontact) oach passes to one of the players who immediately attacks the net with player reacting to defend uses good stick and body position to close on player and attempts to deny scoring chance Play to whistle n whistle coach passes to the net to start a new 1v1 Players switch positions each time they go Station 2: 2v1 Transition ame 10 mn Two players begin a 2v1 against player When player steals the puck he pass it over the center line to his teammate and then joins him in the attack n this transition the closest, must backcheck and defend 2v1 until he can steal the puck and pass it back over the center line to his teammate Work on 2v1 attack and defending skills Defensively, head on a swivel to know where the opponents are; read play and level of control; when to pressure and when to hold ground and contain (stick on the ice) 30 second shifts Station 1 DDD Station 1: 2v1 with Back hecker 10mn The defensive player begins with the puck and gaps up before passing to one of the offensive players As soon as an offensive player gains the puck all the players are activated The additional player backchecks Drill encourages communication between the backchecker and the D Play until a goal is scored, the goalie covers the puck or the two defending players skate the puck out over the blue line Alternate sides with the drill Station 2

9 12U Practice 1718 Players:30+ Equipment: Boarder, 4 Nets, 2 ones, 75 Pucks Warm-Up-Puck, Passing & Skating Skills (6/6) s start by carrying a puck and skating forward from the boards to inside the face-off dots; players pivot to skating backwards, back towards the boards; then again pivot to skating forward again towards a position inside the face-off dots Repeat the sequence down the ice Pass 2 on 0 Skating backwards, turn to forward at far blue-line for shot with partner going to net for rebound Station 1: Pivots 1-Players start on the goal line, skate backwards, pivot towards the boards pening hip and turning skate to the outside Do not allow the players to cross over on their pivots Players perform 3 pivots from goal line to far blue line 2-Have players perform pivots with puck maintaining the same technique Station 2: Passing/Shooting, who becomes after pass, passes to who is skating backwards makes a quick reverse and skates hard to the net for a shot A tire may be added so can fake before shot sprints back to line and becomes Alternate sides so players aren t on top of each other : 1v1 w/support Players challenge each other 1v1 to get possession of puck Player with puck must make pass to oach before they can shoot If puck is turned over than Def becomes ff second shifts : Shooting Bow Tie Three players start at the same time ne player skates around top of circle and takes a shot The second player skates a completely around the circle and takes a shot The third player skates a bowtie route power turning around cones heads down the slot for a shot Players rotate in lines after their shots hange up where shot is taken from Players get chance to shoot all type of shots Station 1 Station 2 S t a t i o n 3 SA: Power Play 2 v 1 Draw a center line to divide the zone and play 3v3 for 40 second shifts ne player from each team (predetermined) must always stay on the offensive side of the line, thus one team will always have a 3v2 advantage

11 12U Practice 1920 Number of Players: 30+ Equipment Required: 3 Nets, 4 Tires, Dividers, Ringettes, Pucks Time: 60 Minutes AILITY- 4 Heiden Jumps Station 1: Skating Fundamentals/sprints Power skating drills to work on stride technique and mechanics -Forward knee touches -Forward power touches on circle with high hold for 2 seconds -Two foot slalom forward & backwards -Forward inside edges Station 2: Puck Skills (7min) (7min) oach gives the player a pass, catch and shoots without stickhandling Pounce on rebound, player picks up a puck in the corner and stickhandles through the tires with a power turn towards the boards, pass puck to player and becomes passes to coach and goes back into line Be sure to switch sides so players receive pucks from both sides of their bodies : Ringette Keep Away (7min) Players play keep away with Ringettes in odd numbered situations You can play 1v1, 1v1v1, 2v1, etcwork on stick strength and a strong bottom hand Encourage them to stay in a tight area so body contact occurs Station 1 Station 2 : Small Area ame (7min) Always 2v1 Players play a 2v2 small area game with the parameter that when they are on offense it is always a 2v1 ne player from each team is designated be stay on offensive side of the half line When teams have puck possession on offense it should always be a 2v1 Players work on odd man situations n the defensive side, player not allowed back into the defensive zone is ready to get open for a clearing pass Body contact is allowed and encouraged in tight areas Y ame 1: 3 Zone Scrimmage (10 minutes) Teams are split into 3 zones by color The black team (B) is attacking one direction while the white team (W) is attacking the other direction Teams advance the puck, zone by zone to their teammates trying to get as many pucks to their teammates in the offensive zone to score nly players in the offensive zone are allowed to score The players in the neutral zone and defensive zone must maintain possession of the puck until they can pass to a player in the offensive zone Encourage communicating and calling for pucks Discourage dumping pucks out and in and just getting rid of it MAKE PLAYS!!!!! Players will rotate zones every couple of minutes so they play in each zone B W ame 1 B W W B ame 2: 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 w/rover The Rover is always on offense Whichever team has the puck, the rover plays with them n any transition, the rover switches to the other team always creating a 3v2 or 4v3 opportunity Works on transition, puck possession, power play/penalty kill, communication, and team play B W B W W B B W B W B W

12 12U Practice 2324 Number of Players: 30+ Equipment Required: 3 Nets, 4 Tires, Dividers, Ringettes, Pucks Time: 60 Minutes Station 1 Moving Body ontact- 8mn Players move in pairs along the wall at moderate speed Player uses good technique to engage in body contact with player Player has his stick down and plays stick blade to stick blade as he closes on player Body position is even slightly ahead so that the future potential for to cut inside is eliminated Player must angle and maintain his skating lane as body contact is used to gain puck After contact, player separates from and repeats the contact several times as the pair move up the boards Repeat back in the opposite direction having the players change positions Station 1 Station 2 Station 2: 1v1 Around ircle Forward-8mn The defensive player mirrors offensive player around the circle with good body and stick position must play stick on puck with peripheral vision while maintaining body position on Not too far ahead or behind nce around the circle player can attack the net and player can close with body contact and defend Station 6 : Thrust of War Side -8mn Have players pair up Players begin shoulder to shoulder n signal from the coach the players push against each other Keep the stick and arms down while attempting to use the legs to push against your partner Knee bend is important for balance and stability : 1v1 out of corner-8mn oach throws puck along the wall in the corner and leave at the same time battling for the puck They should make contact then battle for the loose puck Whoever comes out with the puck attacks the net for a chance to score Works on angling, loose puck battles, stick strength, balance, and body contact Station 5: Ringette Keep Away- 8mn Have 2 less rings in play than players The players without rings try to steal a ring from someone who has one After 60 second stop the activity and have the players without a ring do some type of quick agility eercise such as drop to their knees and get up 5 times Use a confined space on the ice Encourage puck protection skills and stick strength Body contact and battles for the rings are encouraged Station 5 Station 6: Thrust of War Front-8mn Have players pair up Players face each other starting with the front of the shoulders in contact n the signal from the coach, players push against each other Keep the stick and arms down while attempting to use the legs to push against your partner Again, knee bend is important Loose puck races and pit game- 12mn At each faceoff circle players line up as shown oach throws a puck to the boards and players battle for it Whomever get possession attacks the net while the other defends In the neutral zone, players play 1v1 and score by skating the puck and touching it to the tire across from them
