Patrick Khodorenko picked up the puck and passed it through the legs of the remaining Blue Devil s backchecker to Gutierrez. Gutierrez, who Shortly after Jackson s third goal, the Blackhawks killed off a four minute penalty to take the wind out of the Blue Devils skates. The Blackhawks almost made it a 5-1 game when Connor Downing obtained a breakaway chance in the third. Downing cut from side to side, but Munn made an athletic kick save with his left leg pad. started the rush from the defensive zone, one-timed the puck top shelf to give the Blackhawks a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Calvin Borneman, Robby Jackson, Tyler Logan and Corey Semmelmayer all finished the afternoon at plus two. Hawks Ignore Don t Mess With Texas Signs in Opener November 26, 2010 If there was any concern that the Blackhawks would experience a Thanksgiving hangover in their opening game of the Dallas Fall Round-Up, it was quickly dismissed as the Blackhawks scored five first period goals en route to a 9-0 shellacking of the Texas Aces. Jackson netted his second goal of the game in the first minute of the second period. However, the second period had its moments of mediocrity as the Blackhawks were unable to get the puck out of the defensive zone for three straight shifts. The Blue Devils got on the scoreboard late in the second period. The fluke goal (dump in at the blue line from the right side) ended Grimm s shutout bid. However, Grimm finished the afternoon with strong statistics, stopping 36 of 37 shots for a save percentage of.973. Unlike the prior two games in Oakland, there would be no Blue Devils comeback. Instead, midway through the third period, Jackson nailed the door shut. Jackson secured the hat-trick by speeding down the right wing and blowing by Tri-Valley s defense to bury his third goal of the afternoon. The goals came fast and furious in the first period. Corey Semmelmayer got the game winner in the first two and one-half minutes of the game on an assist from Corey Gutierrez. Patrick Khodorenko then buried a shorthanded opportunity. Aidan Ward then capitalized on the power play to make it 3-0 after eight minutes of play. Tyler Logan then scored on an assist from Calvin Borneman. Connor Downing made it 5-0 late in the first, on Khodorenko s third point of the period. In addition to the scoring, the penalty kill went three for three in the first period. The second period was tamer by comparison. Robby Jackson converted on the power play for the lone Blackhawks goal, with the assist coming from Gutierrez (his third point). The Blackhawks also managed to stay out of the penalty box. The third period was more productive than the period. Game 20 Recap (pg. 6)
2 Game 20 Recap (cont.) Connor Downing notched the Hawks third power play goal of the morning, with an assist credited to Jared Lee. Trevor Chapin scored six minutes later on an assist from Malthe Helt. With less than two minutes remaining, David Adams got on the score sheet, with an assist from Jackson. Overall, the penalty kill was three for three, the power play went three for four, Grimm stopped all eleven shots on goal, and twelve Blackhawks registered at least one point for the match. Logan finished +3 for the morning. With the Texas Aces grounded, the Dallas Stars Selects were next on the chopping block. Hawks Score Nine Goals in Consecutive Games November 26, 2010 Proving that their morning performance was no fluke, the Blackhawks lit-up the Dallas Stars Selects for nine more goals to start the Thanksgiving weekend tournament at 2-0. Despite the final score, the first period was quite competitive. Robby Jackson gave the Hawks an early lead when he scored off of an assist from Corey Semmelmayer. The Blackhawks took a 2-0 lead at the start of the second period when Connor Downing scored on the power play (with assists from David Adams and Jackson). The Blackhawks shut-out streak for the tournament ended during the 66 th minute when the Stars scored a short-handed goal. Shortly thereafter, however, the Hawks extended the lead to 3-1 when Tyler Logan scored off of an assist from Jackson. Downing then scored his second power play goal of the period, with assists coming from Semmelmayer and Logan. Malthe Helt then got into the scoring act, extending the Blackhawks lead to 5-1 on assists from Khodorenko and Logan. The Hawks looked to extend their lead when the Stars took their fifth straight penalty of the game. Game 21 Recap (pg. 7) Profile: Trevor Chapin Why did you start playing hockey? 3 Page 7 Game 21 Recap (cont.) However, the Stars struck with their second shorthanded goal of the period, ending the second period down 5-2. Any thoughts at a comeback by the Stars were quickly erased. Semmelmayer struck at the 4:08 mark of the third period to extend the Blackhawks lead to four, with Jackson and Adams getting the assists. Logan scored his second goal of the game (and fourth point of the afternoon) four minutes later on an assist from Jackson. Matthew Ebertin made the score 8-2 when he knocked one in on an assist from Trevor Chapin. Twenty seconds later, Jackson got his sixth point of the game when he scored off of an assist from Evan McGraw. Nicholas Checklenis secured the victory for the Blackhawks, stopping 14 of 16 shots. Ten Blackhawks made the score sheet. Corey Semmelmayer led the plus/minus category, finishing plus 4 for the contest. Jets Grounded as Hawks Capture Second Shut-Out After spending the night out at the American Airlines Center watching the Dallas Stars play the St. Louis Blues, the Blackhawks picked up right where they left off and blanked the Ice Jets 6-0. The Hawks nearly scored five minutes into the contest when Connor Downing blocked a clearing attempt by diving towards the blue line and deflecting the puck with his stick. Matthew Ebertin passed the puck to Patrick Khodorenko, who drove to the right side of the net. Khodorenko s backhand skimmed over the crossbar to keep the score even at 0-0. However, Aidan Ward would collect the gamewinning goal five and one-half minutes into the first period when he scored off of an assist from Malthe Helt. Connor Downing added to the lead with one second left in the first period when he scored off an end-to-end rush, slinging the puck past the goalie with a short-side wrist shot from the left face-off circle. Khodorenko was credited with the assist. The second period was rather uneventful. With the exception of a successful penalty kill midway through the period for the Blackhawks, the score remained 2-0 heading into the third period. Roughly four minutes into the third, Aidan Ward extended the Blackhawks lead to 3-0 on an unassisted goal. Robby Jackson scored roughly ninety seconds later, with assists credited to James Lazette and Corey Semmelmayer. Shortly thereafter, Jackson added a second goal (unassisted) to increase the lead to five. The morning game was capped off when Tyler Logan scored in the last four minutes of the game with an assist credited to Jackson. Geoffrey Grimm captured his second shut-out of the tournament. Eight Blackhawks registered points during the game. The penalty kill units were perfect at two for two, while the Hawks other specialty teams did not make an appearance as the Hawks were not awarded any power plays during the game. James Lazette led all skaters with a plus four rating.

This time it was statistic that the Blackhawks did not dominate in the the Houston Wild who felt the sting of the Blackhawks tournament swarming defense and potent offense. The Blackhawks took the early lead when Robby Jackson scored in the first three minutes off of an assist from David Adams. The score would remain 10 at the conclusion of the first period. As a result, the Blackhawks took a 3-0 lead into the final period. The third period continued where the second period left off the Scots spending time in the penalty box for not so minor penalties (2 head contact penalties, 2 cross-checking penalties, and a bench penalty for a coach who lost his cool). Unphased, the Blackhawks buried another power play goal. Jackson carried the off when they scored their first goal at the 11:23 puck down the left boards. His play was impeded as mark of the first period. Jackson entered the zone on the right side and drop-passed the puck to Patrick Khodorenko. As the defenseman stepped up to meet the puck, Khodorenko passed it back to Jackson.
