Villanova tied with Old Dominion with a 2-3 conference record, but earned the third seed in the tournament since Villanova won the regular season meeting, 2-1, in late October at home. WELCOME BACK: Villanova is returning to the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since the 2011 season. That year the Wildcats fell in the semi-finals to Syracuse by a score of 3-1. This is Villanova s 11th appearance in the. They have four wins in their previous ten tries including the BIG EAST Championship in SENIOR LEADERSHIP: The Wildcats have six seniors; both seniors Taylor Kidwell and Carolynn Clark will return for a 5th year. Kayla Kenney was named to the BIG EAST Preseason Team this season. ROOKIE SUCCESS: This season the Wildcats have seven freshmen in total on their roster, with three in the starting lineup. Emily Cliggett and Allison Sayia have scored three goals apiece, while Erika Miller has started in goal for the Wildcats 15 games this season. Miller has been credited with the five wins in net for Villanova, she also has 86 saves this season, with a save percentage of.717. Cliggett has started in 14 games this season and has seen action in all 15; she has six points this season. Sayia has started 13 games this season; she also has one assist to her three goals to give her seven points. Catie Ward has also started seven games for the Wildcats coming in off the bench during another seven games; she has scored one goal this season. MILLER IN GOAL: Freshman goalkeeper Erika Miller has been the starting goalie for the Wildcats this season. She finished the regular season with 88 saves and a save percentage of.704. Miller is third in the BIG EAST in both saves and save percentage. BELLO LEADS THE WILDCATS: Sophomore Francesca Bello leads Villanova in goals with 10 this season, she also has five assists which gives her a team high 25 points. She is tied for 5th in the BIG EAST Conference with goals this season. During the game vs. Siena this season Bello finished with a hat trick, leading the Wildcats to a 5-0 victory. CLIPSTONE PLAYS FOR ZIMBABWE NATIONAL TEAM: Midway through the season sophomore goalkeeper Jordyn Clipstone was named to the Zimbabwe National Field Hockey team. She missed the last to regular season games to fly back home to Zimbabwe and train and play for her country in the Olympic Qualifier in Johannesburg, South Africa. BIG EAST HONORS: The Wildcats have had six players earn weekly conference honors this season.
