2 Player Development Player Acquisition: NFL Draft Undrafted Rookie Free Agents Free Agency Trades Waiver Wire Other Leagues Building through the NFL Draft is a key to building a consistent, champion-caliber foundation. Depth is often built through Undrafted Free Agency and the belief in developing players through the Practice Squad. It s not how you are acquired but rather what you can bring when you are acquired! Following the draft, it is imperative to understand where your undrafted client is going to get the best opportunity. Don t let a team s W-L record factor into where to sign. Look deeper into the facts. 2

3 Pre-Season Opportunity Which team is going to give your client the most opportunities to perform in the preseason? If your client doesn t get on the field in the preseason, he'll have a tougher time making that team's roster or any roster at all. Last season, the Seahawks ranked No. 1 in total offensive and defensive playing time by undrafted rookies. 5 Undrafted Free Agents on Roster Which teams have shown an Undrafted Free Agent can make their roster? Fifteen players have earned a roster spot on the 53-man roster with the Seahawks as undrafted rookie free agents since Ranks 11th in the NFL even though the Seahawks have been selective in the number of UFDAs they sign each year. The team has signed 68 of them, which ranks 17th. Percentage of UDFAs earning roster spots (15 of 68, for 22 percent) ranks eighth in the NFL over that span. History has show that the Seahawks keep and develop the Undrafted Free Agents they sign, even at the expense of draft choices.
