4 OREGON HEREFORD ASSOCIATION SPRING SALE RULES ENTRY DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, ENTRY FEE: Open heifers, bred heifers, aged cows, cow/calf pairs and bulls under two years of age are $ per entry. 2. LIMIT OF ENTRY: 45 lots will be offered at the sale, entries received after the first 45 will be included only at the discretion of the sale committee. 3. COMPLETED ENTRY: A completed entry shall consist of the following: Completed entry form, entry fee and signed registration certificates. In addition, you are strongly encouraged to send photographs of entries to be used in the sale catalog. Please consider the quality of those photos as they are a direct representation of your program and are intended to increase interest. Poor quality photos can be a deterrent and diminish marketability immensely. Late entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of the sale committee with an added late fee of $ Consignors will be required to provide supplemental sheets for late entries and substitutions at their own expense. Entries on cattle not at the show and sale will be forfeited-no exceptions. 4. COMMISSIONS AND SALE COSTS: The $ entry fee will be directly applied to sale costs. Sale commission will be based on the overhead and gross sales, including no sales. Additionally, the Oregon Hereford Association may add an additional 2% but not to exceed 2% as a fundraiser for the state association. 5. REQUIREMENTS: Consignors must be members or associate members in good standing with the Oregon Hereford Association membership dues are $35.00 and should be paid directly to the treasurer, Karen Sprague. If dues are sent with your entry, please make separate checks out for the separation of sale and association accounting. Consignors agree to offer a minimum of one-half interest in each lot. For those who are interested in selling flushes, pregnancies, embryos, semen, etc. contact the sale manager. 6. CONSIGNOR LIMITS: Consignors are limited to five lots. Cow/calf pairs constitute one lot. Each consignor can enter three open heifer lots. Consignors agree to offer a minimum of one-half interest in each lot. 7. HEALTH AND BRAND REQUIREMENTS: Each entry/lot will be required to have individual health inspection and certificate provided by a licensed veterinarian with valid dates through the last day of the show and sale, in this case through March 27, 2011 in addition and in compliance with Oregon State Law all heifers either bred or open, cows and pairs nursing heifers calves over two months of age must have calf hood Vaccinated/Brucellosis. Brand inspections must be in compliance with current ordinances. 8. PALPATION REPORT/BREEDING SOUNDNESS: All females over 205 days of age are required to be certified by a licensed veterinarian pregnant or open with no abnormalities that would potentially interfere with breeding soundness of said female. Female palpation report is included with this mailing for your convenience 9. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES: Registration certificates of the animals will be transferred to the buyer at the seller s expense. The seller will register all calves born before the sale. The buyer will register all calves born after the sale. The seller on females carrying the service of non-owned AI sires will not furnish AI certificates.

5 10. MINIMUM SALE REQUIREMENTS: All entry/lots will be required to meet/exceed minimum sale guidelines for frame score and weight. See the attached sheet for more specific guidelines. In addition, ALL BULLS, HEIFERS, AND COWS ENTRIES MUST BE HALTER BROKE AND LEAD WITH MINIMAL RESISTANCE. ALL cattle are required to be double tied while in the stall. Bulls over the age of 8 months will be required to have a nose lead in while being led. 11. SIFTING: A sifting committee will be appointed by the sale committee to evaluate each lot s eligibility to sell. The decision of the sifting committee is final. Sifted cattle are to be removed from the immediate sale pavilion area, and housed in a different location. Entry fees will be forfeited on cattle sifted. Private treaty sales however, are required to pay commission. 12. THE NATIONAL CODE OF ETHICS: The national code of ethics and Oregon State law in regard to auction/sale presentation of cattle will be strictly enforced. The seller and his agents agree that said animals have been consigned to sale for a particular purpose and have not been physically altered to deceive a buyer. In addition, temperament or mobility of said consignment animals may not be altered. The seller agrees to release the Oregon Hereford Association, its agents, employees, officers, directors and affiliates from any such claims made for breach of above. 13. STALL ASSIGNMENTS: The sale manager will assign stall assignments and in the order in which completed entry packets were received. 14. BULL CONSIGNMENT/DISPLAY RULES: The Oregon Hereford association encourages breeders to display their Hereford bulls for exhibition. Bulls are eligible for inclusion in the sale or for display purposes. Those bulls that are on display are allowed to sell private treaty. All bulls must be broke to lead and be stalled together with other consignor s cattle. The same rules and deadlines apply as with the females with the exception of the following: 15. Bulls may be either polled, horned or scurred must be declared so on entry form. 16. Bulls must be two years of age or younger on March 27 th, Bulls must be guaranteed virgin unless a negative trichomoiasis accompanies health papers. Bulls over twelve months of age will be semen tested and examined for breeding soundness by a licensed veterinarian within thirty days of the sale. The seller will guarantee bulls under the age of twelve months. Copies of the breeding soundness report will be required at the time of sifting and weighing. Bulls are required to have a 6.0 frame score or better and a WDA of 2.75for those less than twelve month of age and a WDA of 2.5 for those who are twelve to twenty four months old. 18. SHOW RULES: All heifers bred and open will be grouped together and divided into divisions: Junior, intermediate, senior and cow/calf division. A champion and reserve champion will be selected from each division and a champion and a reserve champion will be selected from the division winners. All haltered cow/calf pairs will be shown in the cow/calf division regardless of age. Sale management will determine sale order.
