2 Greetings fellow Limousin seedstock producers! What an exciting and rewarding 12 months we have experienced in the beef industry! It has been a great 12 months here at Red Oak too as we have watched our set of 2016 drop calves grow and develop and our 2017 drop calves arrive. It has been very rewarding to see our powerful and carefully selected cow families perform in a manner consistent with our expectations. We were drawn to JYF Chunk as a result of his muscle mass, extreme docility, foot structure, massive scrotal size, and excellent carcase traits. It is rare to find a bull that combines these big five traits in such a phenotypically appealing package! JYF Chunk is currently in the Top 10% of the breed for IMF and we were really pleased to partner with B Bar Cattle to purchase an interest in this very exciting sire prospect at the JYF bull sale earlier this year. JYF Chunk is the real deal and a true industry focused sire! We were also very pleased to be a major sponsor of the 2017 Red Oak National Limousin Youth Show in July. It was a very enjoyable weekend of fun, collaboration, and skill development! In this flyer we offer the following exciting genetic opportunities. Semen packages in Ivy s Bubba Watson who has bred beyond our high expectations here in Australia and also in Canada. Sons of Ivy s Bubba Watson sold earlier this year to $32,000 from the B Bar Cattle draft in the ABC Limousin bull and female sale. Semen packages in Cottage Lake Big Star, the very exciting Homo Polled and Homo Black Limousin sire who was the 2016 Canadian Show Bull of the Year. A bull that will add performance and scrotal size. Semen packages in TMF Redwood, a bull that is really proving his worth through his very impressive progeny. He offers the same breeding potency as his sire TMF Westwood with some extra softness and maternal strength. Semen packages in Birubi Kaiser, the 2016 National Show and Sale Champion Bull that we own in partnership with the Raven and Maryvale herds. He is really clicking with our TMF Westwood daughters to produce some very stout bulls and stylish heifers! Photographs of some of It has certainly been very rewarding to export Australian genetics to Canada, South Africa, and New Zealand in the last 12 months. We have some very exciting genetics and cow families in Australia and it is great to see some of these excellent genetics gaining momentum and attracting attention across the global landscape. We look forward to many more transactions on this front moving forward. We are also very excited about our two new semen sires for 2017, Greenwood Canadian Ways and JYF Chunk. Greenwood Canadian Ways appealed to us as a result of combining the cow power of Greenwood Wisteria Lane with the outcross, performance sire Cole Architect. We were also impressed with the docility and consistency of Greenwood Canadian Ways and his two ET flush sisters that were presented for sale in the Bragg Creek Cattle Call sale in August JYF CHUNK at 15 months of age our Red Oak cow power and a number of our 2017 donors from which we have embryos currently available for sale or on the way. We watched Ivy s Bubba Watson develop as a calf from a young age and were very pleased to be able to bring him to Australia. Ivy s Bubba Watson progeny have certainly impressed in both Canada and Australia. Below is a picture of an Ivy s Bubba Watson daughter, Red Oak Miss Holly, that we are particularly impressed with. Ivy s Bubba Watson progeny have also impressed and performed very well at B Bar Cattle. Sons recently offered at auction by B Bar Cattle sold to $32,000 and averaged $13,450. The semen packages being offered this Autumn and Winter represent the last of our stocks in Ivy s Bubba Watson. He achieves the goal we had for him in regard to moderating birth weight CL Big Star -1.7 COMMENT: Cottage Lake Big Star had an exceptional show season in 2016 and was the 2016 Canadian Show Bull of the Year. An outcross Homo Polled and Homo Black breeding bull that has impressed a number of judges and breeders upon inspection for his soundness and muscle mass. In addition to his 2016 show success he was also the 2015 Canadian Show Bull of the Year in 2015 in a tie with TMF Redwood. Cottage Lake Big Star has been used by a small selection of elite herds in We have Cottage Lake Big Star semen currently available in packages of 6 or 10 straws. Semen is priced at $100 + GST per straw. Big Star s first progeny were also shown alongside him at Agribition in 2016 and impressed those that viewed them. We are using TMF Redwood to continue to get the Birubi Kaiser $39 very positive influence of his sire TMF Westwood. We have a 2017 drop bull calf Red Oak North Bound sired by Birubi Kaiser that is one to watch. He is thick, stout, and stylish! His first progeny are just starting to arrive in Australia and I have already seen a very impressive heifer calf by him.
