2 What is Xtreme Bulls? The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour showcases the PRCA s top bull riders and some of the rankest bulls the world has to offer; Xtreme Bulls bull riders include the top bull riders from the WEATHER GUARD PRCA World Standings as well as contestants who advance through Xtreme Bulls qualifying events. In Xtreme Bulls events, every contestant competes in the first round, with the top performers advancing to the final round. The winner of the two-head average after the final round earns the title for that Tour stop. Money won on the PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour counts toward the WEATHER GUARD PRCA World Standings for bull riding, which determine the qualifiers for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, but it does not count toward the all-around standings. There were five Division I Xtreme Bulls events in 2015, all webcast live on and 22 Division II events season highlights Sage Kimzey won the bull riding world championship in 2014, his rookie year but he had an additional aspiration for The Xtreme Bulls year-end title is something I ve always dreamed about winning since I was a little kid, he told the ProRodeo Sports News moments after accomplishing that goal at season s end. Kimzey hadn t won any 2015 Xtreme Bulls Tour events until the Finale in Ellensburg, Wash., in September, but he had accumulated enough money by placing in the final round and the average at both San Antonio and Reno, Nev., to come in as season leader anyway. At Ellensburg, he bumped up his lead from nearly $4,000 over Tanner Learmont, who was at No. 2 before the Finale, to $17,677 over Clayton Foltyn, who ended the 2015 season as year-end reserve champion. Other 2015 Xtreme Bulls Tour event winners included: Two cowboys who won their first Xtreme Bulls Tour titles Learmont and Brennon Eldred. The two firsttime winners also happened to have the two best average scores of the 2015 Tour. Eldred racked up points in Lovington, N.M., closely followed by Learmont, who had 175 points in San Antonio. Two longtime PRCA cowboys Foltyn, who won in Reno, Nev., in 2008 and 2010, and Zack Oakes, who won in Laughlin, Nev., in Finale highlights The Finale paid eight places with a total of $94,000 in prize money. It began with the top 40 riders in the Xtreme Bulls Tour standings. Of the 12 riders who advanced to the Finals round, just three were able to navigate the loaded pen of top bulls: Parker Breding, Joe Frost and Kimzey. In just his second year as a pro, Sage Kimzey became only the fifth cowboy in 13 years of Xtreme Bulls to win both the Finale and the year-end Xtreme Bulls title the same year; the last cowboy to do it was Cody Hancock in In 2014, Kimzey tied Cody Campbell for the Finale win, but this time, he won it outright and was relieved to have padded his cushion going into the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER. Winning (Ellensburg) really gave me a big push for the end of season, said Kimzey. Although he noted before the Wrangler NFR that No lead is safe going into December due to the increased Wrangler NFR payouts that started in 2015, Kimzey emerged a world champion having earned nearly a third of his season total at Xtreme Bulls events. Kimzey was the only cowboy to earn money in both rounds of the Finale and the average. He was sixth in the first round with a score of 85.5 on Flying Five Rodeo s No. 191 and third in the finals round with the same score on Flying Diamond Rodeo s Crown Legend for 171 points on two head, for a total of $18,894. Bryce Barrios led the bull riding rookie standings coming into the Ellensburg Finale, where he linked up with Flying Diamond Rodeo s Moose Jaw for the highest score of not only the 2015 Finale, but the entire 2015 season: 91 points. His Finale earnings of $13,630, added to what he had already earned during the first 11 months of the regular season $29,120 assured him the 2015 Rookie of the Year title.
