1 0 2nd 8 Kadoka Rodeo Grounds 1/2 mile east of Kadoka, SD Dear Friends, Badlands Cowboys for Christ is holding a Rodeo Bible Camp this summer. Why not come and join us? Bring a friend. This is for teenagers, ages We welcome all interested parents and friends to our chapel services and rodeo performances. The rodeo performances begin on Wednesday and Thursday. A potluck supper is served Thursday evening following the awards presentation. We welcome all interested persons and especially parents coming to pick up campers. There are buckles and plaques awarded to the top four places in each event and saddles to the all-around cowboy and cowgirl. Registration is on Monday morning and camp begins at 10:00 a.m. It closes Thursday evening after the awards presentation. The fee for camp expenses is $ Make checks payable to: Badlands Cowboys for Christ. You must have your application and fee in no later than seven days before the date camp starts. Entries will be limited to the first 90 boys and 54 girls. No one will be allowed to leave the grounds unless it is a group activity. There will be a Trading Post for snacks, books, etc., on the grounds. All campers must sleep in cabins with a counselor and must attend devotions and Chapel services to be eligible to compete for prizes. You cannot compete in any event that you did not receive instruction in. No telephone entries will be accepted. On a first-come basis, 144 entries will be taken. Postmark dates will be used. If you are unable to attend, after entering, please notify us as soon as possible. Rodeo Bible Camp consists of two days of rodeo instruction, two days of rodeo competition, daily chapel services, games and fellowship with friends, with encouragment of building a personal relationship with Christ. 2 What is the Badlands Cowboys for Christ organization? In the spring of 1976, several ranchers from the Kadoka, Belvidere and Norris areas became excited about the possibility of helping young people develop spiritually and morally, along with improving their rodeo skills. The ranchers formed an organization and began trying to help young people who were competing in high school rodeos. They also sponsored prayer breakfasts and brought in special speakers for the Wall High School Rodeo and the Kadoka Little Britches Rodeo. Several members helped with the Rodeo Bible Camps that had been started by Gary Walker in neighboring states. In 1977, the Badlands Cowboys for Christ helped build an arena on the Don Word ranch. About 65 young people attended the first Rodeo Bible Camp there in August. We are a sub-chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys. Professional rodeo cowboys helped with the instruction and plan to help us every year. We are a non-denominational organization. We emphasize the basics: salvation through faith in Christ and living a Christhonoring life. We are a faith organization and appreciate the gifts of food, labor, rodeo stock, financial, and other donations that enable us to do this work. CONTESTANTS BRING: Bedroll or Sleeping Bag Cot or Foam Pad (no cots furnished) Towel & Washcloth Soap & Shampoo Personal Belongings Warm Coat & Rain Gear Bible Notebook & Pen for Taking Notes HORSES: Tack, gear, hay, feed and water bucket. Panels if needed. DRESS CODE: Hats and long sleeved western shirts must be worn in competition. Please do not bring clothing with suggestive content or advertising alcohol or tobacco. GIRLS: Dresses are not necessary. No shorts, halters or short tops, please. NO PETS PLEASE: Except horses. Please limit the time on your cell phone. No controlled substance (alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs) will be allowed at camp. Anyone in violation will be turned over to law enforcement and parents will be notified. Due to legal issues and liabilities, NO camping will be allowed at the rodeo grounds on Sunday night prior to the start of camp. The rodeo grounds will be opened on Monday morning. Insurance is the responsibility of the camper. In case of an accident, please have your policy number available. The camp policy is minimal coverage.
