The Auction of Champions will be conducted under the management and direction of the National Western Stock Show. 2. The Stock Show will select top placing market steer, market swine, market lambs and market goats to be sold and reserves all rights to designate which animals go into the sale. 3. Animals offered for sale must be regularly entered and shown at the 2017 National Western Stock Show. All animals designated for the sale must sell in the sale and go directly to slaughter. 4. Two (2) calves from the Catch-A-Calf Program will be selected for the Auction of Junior Livestock Champions to be held Friday, January 20, Those calves will be chosen on points using a formula which includes Record Book, Sponsor Relations, Interview, Production, Live Placing and Showmanship. These two (2) calves will be designated following the awards portion of the Catch-A-Calf Show. 5. Seller will be limited to selling one (1) animal per species, unless seller owns both the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion, then both will sell. 6. Official weight at time of processing will be used for sale weight. 7. Show placings will determine the order of sale. 8. Condition of Sale for all species - To provide for entry of market steer that are fed and shown on a practical basis, not being abnormally shrunk nor held off feed. The price paid on ANY market beef in the National Western Stock Show auction which does not grade select or better by USDA standards, will receive the median price for the sale, providing the bid price through the ring is not lower than the median, in which case, the exhibitor will receive the bid price. (Median is the price that falls in the middle with as many market steer selling above it as below it not the average price). 9. National Western Livestock Sale Proceeds. Sale checks for National Western Livestock Sales, including Auction of Junior Livestock Champions, which may be affected by any initial drug testing fees for random tests for any foreign substances will be charged on a prorated basis of animals shown and sold. If there is a charge for a stop test, it will likewise be prorated back to the Participant on a prorated basis. The prorated amount will be deducted from the sale proceeds of each animal after the National Western Stock Show receives the final results and billing of the tests. Proceeds will be issued at this time. This method of prorated deduction and distribution of sale proceeds is approved by the Packers and Stockyards Division. Proceeds from Sales not affected by testing fees will be forwarded to Participants as soon after close of the show as they can be properly processed. 10. If any animal is condemned at slaughter for any reason, the exhibitor will NOT receive payment for that animal and must accept the consequences without recourse against the National Western Stock Show. The National Western Stock Show is not liable for any breaches of contract between the seller and buyer. 11. A commission charge of five (5%) percent of the gross sale price will be levied against all stock sold in the Junior Sale. Please refer to Junior Livestock Show Rules and Regulations item: Sale Proceeds, Commissions, and/or Deductions. 12. Junior Market Participants, which qualify for sale will be responsible for the care, custody, control, feeding of their animals, and removal of all foreign material until loaded for slaughter. Any exhibitor failing to appear for sale after being accepted and included in the sale order will be barred from selling in any future National Western Sales, the animal will be pulled from the sale order and the exhibitor will receive the buy back price for their animal. 13. Sale Proceeds, Commissions, and/or Deductions a. Stock Show will in no way be liable or responsible for condition of carcass or sale of animal. If prohibited substance(s) are found in blood, urine, tissue, hide or carcasses of animals at time of testing or following slaughter or if there is any evidence of unethical fitting, sabatoge and/or tampering, the Participant forfeits all rights and is subject to all sanctions, including, but not limited to disqualification, and barred from future participation in the National Western Stock Show. 14.
