2 2017 Vance County 4-H Summer Fun Announced by Turner A. Pride, 4-H Agent NC Cooperative Extension--Vance County 305 Young Street, Henderson, NC Telephone (252) H Summer Fun is a special program of NC Cooperative Extension, Vance County 4-H program. The program will run June-August with exciting, educational and fun opportunities for youth grades K Participation requires completion of a 4-H enrollment packet. You do not have to be a 4-H club member to participate H age is considered to be the age as of January 1, 2017 (except for overnight camp). 3. Registration is on a FIRST PAID -FIRST RESERVED basis. Youth will NOT be placed in classes until completed forms are received. Registrations may not be made by phone or mail. 4. Come by the Vance County Cooperative Extension Center, 305 Young Street, Henderson to register between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Plan to spend minutes filling out forms. Bring your driver's license and complete insurance information including policy number, company address and telephone. 4-H secretary provides free notary service. For your convenience, forms are available online at vance.ces.ncsu.edu (click on 4-H & Youth). To save time, download and bring completed forms to be notarized. 5. Registration will be open to any Vance County youth ages 5-14** beginning April 25. DEADLINE: 1 prior to each event or until class is filled. 6. An annual registration fee of $10 per participant is required in addition to the class fee to cover activity insurance. Payment is required at registration and can be paid with cash/check payable to "Cooperative Extension 4-H". Classes are the regular price for the 1 st child;; price for additional children in the household will be half price. 7. Refunds will not be given unless a class is cancelled. If your child cannot attend, you may call the office and see if anyone is on the waiting list with whom you could transfer enrollment and exchange money. 8. Unless otherwise stated classes will meet at the Vance County Cooperative Extension Office and youth should wear clothing that is comfortable for lots of movement and can get dirty! **4-H generally serves youth 5-18 years of age. For the summer program, youth may attend leadership training and then assist with the summer program at no charge. See schedule for training dates and requirements. Questions? 4 Week 4 July 10- July H Etiquette School Monday- Thursday: Etiquette classes for children are invaluable lessons that will last through their entire lives. Students are taught through fun, interactive lessons the essentials in etiquette that are designed to encourage leadership skills, instruct in positive decision making, and stress the importance of good friendship and citizenship. Activities include; dinner etiquette, public speaking social media etiquette, etc. 9 2:30 pm $15 per Friday: Tea Party Youth may formally dress up if they choose. July Week 5 July H Electric Congress Wilmington, NC Inquire with Turner Pride, Extension 4- H Agent, for more information. Gardening Week Monday: 4- H Budgeting. Youth will learn concepts of budgeting, couponing, and the art of saving while shopping for a meal at the local grocery store. Practices learned can be used when shopping for themselves or the family. 9-2 pm 7-10 $20 per Tuesday- Thursday: Master Gardeners Day Camp Growing a Pizza. Learn about soil, plants, bees, and more. Visit the Farmers Market, bring back locally- grown food and cook it up into something fresh and wonderful. Tour a farm to see area farmer at work raising animals. Friday: Marbles Museum 9-3 pm Week 6 July H Olympic Gymnasts Week Monday: OPEN Tuesday- Thursday: Learn the basics of gymnastics from professional instructors.
