7 LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS: FSQA Food Safety and Quality Assurance ****4-H/FFA members showing livestock at the Fair are required to either train or test. If you are unsure if you need the training or testing please contact Jill at the Extension Office. ~Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Training or Testing is required to show livestock at the fair. If you intend to show at the fair, you need to have the training or take the test for your age group. The livestock species includes beef, swine, sheep, dairy cattle, goat (meat, breeding, & dairy), rabbits, poultry, and bottle/bucket calf. The species excluded from the FSQA training/testing are horses and pets. What is the certification/recertification process? All youth in grades 4 th, 5 th & 6 th are required to attend a training (no testing) each year. Youth in grades 7 th, 8 th will have the option of attending a training every year or completing an Intermediate Test which will certify them until they 9 th grade. Youth in grades 9 th, 10 th, 11 th & 12 th will have the option of attending a training every year or completing a Senior Test which will certify them until they graduate. Where are the manuals to study for the tests? The manual is available online at the manual is also available at the Extension Office. Training & Test Dates for Lyon County: March 28 6:30 pm Rock Rapids Forster Community Center If you are unable to attend the training on the Lyon County date you will need to attend FSQA Training at a different county. Please contact and pre-register at the Extension Office in the neighboring county you will attend. O Brien - February 4 & April 22, 9-10:30 O brien County Extension in Primghar Osceola - January 12, 4-6 pm Plymouth - April 17, 1:30-3:30pm Sioux - February 16 & 20 in Sioux Center at Dordt College, 7-9pm LAST CHANCE TRAINING!
