2 Hello, BC Rugby is excited to announce that it will once again host the Vancouver Sevens Invitational in The event will take place from 7-8th of March at the University of British Columbia (UBC), providing the perfect build-up to the year s biggest weekend of Rugby in Vancouver, the HSBC Canada Sevens, part of the World Rugby Sevens Series. Headlining the Festival, the Elite Sevens divisions have the opportunity to play against world-class teams and compete for CAD$5,000 winner-takes-all prize money. After a successful introduction last year, the NextGen divisions are back again, specifically designed for U23/college age players. The U18 and U16 divisions continue this trend, providing a platform for the very best in age grade Rugby Sevens to prove themselves and learn from the best. Continuing to build on the success of 2018, we would be delighted if you would join us and be a part of making the 2019 Vancouver Sevens Invitational bigger and better than ever. 3 1. Elite - Men s & Women s Elite competitions at the VSI have been a huge success. International men s & women s teams such as Canada Maple Leafs, USA Falcons, Fiji Blonde, France and South Africa have travelled to the event, with some lucky enough to play their final match at BC Place Stadium, in front of 35,000+ rugby fans. Once again, the tournament is expected to host a number of top-level sides from around the world in this division, all competing for the $5,000 prize for the winners. 2. NextGen - Men s & Women s After the successful introduction of the NextGen division for developing young adult teams, it is back to provide plenty more action and excitement. Once again, we recommend players in NextGen teams to be born 2000 or before, creating a platform between the Age-Grade and Elite divisions where developing young adult players can thrive. We re calling on college, university and development squads looking to battle it out and prove that they are the aspiring stars for tomorrow. 3. Age-Grade - Boys & Girls (U18 & U16) The Vancouver Sevens Invitational is about teams with ambition, and this division is no different. Not only will your youth players find a high level of competition on the field, but they will have a unique chance to observe and learn from some of the top athletes in the sport. Give your players something to aim for and let s inspire them to become the very best Rugby Sevens stars. For U18 players must be born 2001 or earlier and for U16 players must be born 2003 or earlier.

4 Registration To register for the 2019 Vancouver Sevens Invitational, use this link on the right or visit Registration deadline is 5pm January 31st, Spaces are limited in each division so don t delay, click the button on the right to get your team entered. Cost: The price of a team entry in the Elite divisions this year is $500. All other divisions are $350. Canada Sevens Ticket Deal: We are delighted to confirm that all teams entering the Vancouver Rugby Festival are eligible for a discount code for passes to the HSBC Canada Sevens. These tickets will provide access to the General Admissions area of BC Place Stadium and cover both days of competition. Once you have registered your team for the tournament, you will be sent a discount code you can then use through Ticketmaster. BC Rugby has secured a block of tickets specifically for the teams taking part in the 2019 Vancouver Sevens Invitational, but they will be available on a first come first serve basis. To avoid disappointment, register your team ASAP!

5 Accommodation Options: We are delighted to announce that once again we have partnered with the Sandman Hotel Group to arrange discounted rooms for all teams taking part in the Vancouver Sevens Invitational. They have two locations, ideally placed to give you maximum flexibility during your stay. Both offer a wealth of facilities including onsite restaurants, swimming pool, gym area and parking, as well as being close to convenient public transport options. Their City Centre Hotel is located at 180 West Georgia, Vancouver. This is just one block from BC Place Stadium, the venue for the HSBC Canada Sevens, and approximately a min drive to the UBC where the Vancouver Rugby Festival matches will be staged. If you are looking to save on cost, the Sandman Vancouver Airport Hotel is an ideal option. This hotel is only a short walk to the Canada Line train, which will take you straight to downtown in about 20mins. To drive to UBC for Vancouver Rugby Festival matches, the journey is approximately 20-30mins. No matter which accommodation option you select, the process is the same. After you register your team, you will be put in touch with a key contact at Sandman Hotels who will help you secure exclusive discount rates. Accommodation in Vancouver will be in high demand that week as a result of the HSBC Canada Sevens. To keep team costs low and avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage you to secure your team s accommodation at the earliest possible opportunity.

6 Transit to Hotel from YVR Airport: If your team is staying at Sandman Hotel City Centre and arriving by plane, take the Canada Line train service to Vancouver City Centre. From here, it is a short 5-minute walk to the hotel, eastbound on West Georgia Street, towards BC Place stadium. If your team is staying at the Sandman Hotel Vancouver Airport location there is a shuttle bus service to the hotel. There is an interactive map highlighting key locations available here, as well as a static version at the end of this pack. Private Transport Options: If you need transport solutions for your team while you are in Vancouver, we recommend Charter Bus Lines & Lynch Bus Lines. Tournament Site Food Options Food trucks will be available at the UBC fields and close by throughout the tournament. In addition, UBC Catering has an array of options for catering while you attend the two-day tournament on their campus. They can provide options for all meals, suiting various budgets and these can be delivered to the fields timed around your itinerary. Many of the traveling teams used these services last year and the feedback was very positive. Once you register, your team we will put you in touch with UBC Catering about any other requirements you have. Traveling Officials: Do you have any qualified officials in your region that would like to be part of our festival and are willing to travel? 7 Tour Sanctioning Forms: All teams coming from outside of BC and Canada must submit a Tour Sanctioning Application form and relevant fees to Rugby Canada. Unsure if you need to complete an application? Here is a guide: Teams from BC - No sanctioning needed Teams from outside of BC - All teams wishing to travel to another province within Canada need to be sanctioned by the home Provincial Union and the destination Provincial Union. Teams from outside of Canada - All tours traveling to Canada must be sanctioned by Rugby Canada and the destination province and subsequent Provincial Union(s). Furthermore, World Rugby requires that all teams must have Home National Union Sanctioning Approval prior to touring. Application Process: Please ensure to submit a sanctioning application at least two weeks in advance of any event seeking approval and insurance coverage. A completed application will meet the following criteria: Completed Online Sanctioning Application Completed tour roster form for touring side. All finalized rosters must be submitted to members@rugbycanada.ca 48hours prior to the departure date. Applications are entered into processing upon submission. All changes to the listing of participating clubs or players need be communicated to Rugby Canada staff by . An expedite fee will be assessed to late applications that do not meet the two-week submission deadline.
