3 On behalf of the Board of Governors of the NSSAF, I am pleased to extend a welcome to the Track and Field Championship being held at Beazley Field in Dartmouth. This championship is the largest event hosted by the NSSAF during the school year with over 800 student-athletes from 180 schools taking part. Student-athletes have trained very hard in all types of weather for the opportunity to represent their schools. It takes dedication and commitment to balance school work with athletics, especially as we enter into June. For the coaches and parents, a big thank you for all of time and hard work you have invested in your teams to reach this, the 86 th and final NSSAF championship of the school year. A special thank you goes out to Darrell Dempster and Donna Duggan, Co-Meet Directors and the Metro High School Athletic Association for spending countless hours organizing an event of this magnitude. We would also like to thank the 100+ volunteers who give freely of their time year after year to make this meet a success. As we draw to an end of our athletic calendar, the NSSAF would like to take this opportunity to extend congratulations to all of our member schools who constantly strive to uphold our motto, Education Through Sport. False Starts One false start is permitted per student athlete. A student athlete who false starts twice, in a specific event. will be disqualified from that event. 4. Regional Representation A) A competitor must compete in his/her event at the Regional Level in order to qualify for the NSSAF Championships. B) If NSSAF meet is on an 8 lane track: 1. The first four placing in track events and the first four in field events will advance to the provincial meet. Fifth place finishers shall be listed as alternates. 2. Four relay teams from each region in each relay will qualify. 5. Awards A) A Championship Banner will be presented to the overall winner in each classification. (Division 1, 2, 3, 4, Jr. High). 8

10 B) Championship Banner to winning schools in each classification as follows: (Total 6 teams). Senior Girls, Intermediate Girls, Junior Girls, Senior Boys, Intermediate Boys, Junior Boys C) NSSAF Gold Medallions will be presented to members of championship team and coach. D) NSSAF Silver Medallions will be presented to members of runners-up team and coach. E) NSSAF Bronze Medallions will be presented to members of third place team and coach. F) NSSAF Gold, Silver and Bronze medallions to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each event. 6. Rules A) The International Amateur Athletic Federation Official Handbook. However, where these rules conflict with NSSAF regulations, the latter regulations will apply.
