On Saturday, December 1, there will be the lighting of the tree ceremony at Veterans Park at 6 PM. SAMI will have a table distributing flyers. Please join us for the festivities.

SAMI mourns the recent passing of Dave Dumas Past Commodore (2012) and Fleet Captain (20092011) on November 11, 2018. Services were private for the family with a full burial at sea. In This Issue.

As I am writing this, I am also preparing Moonbeam to join the Thanksgiving raft up in Smokehouse Bay. On Saturday, December 1, there will be the lighting of the tree ceremony at Veterans Park at 6 PM. SAMI will have a table distributing flyers. Please join us for the festivities. Of course, our SAMI Christmas party on December 9th at the yacht club will be a warm and fun-filled evening for all. Don Mills set the tone by offering a beautiful inspirational prayer of Thanksgiving, reminding us God is both our Provider and Protector and it is to Him we are to offer our thanks not only on Thanksgiving but each and every day for our gift of life here on earth and His many blessings. Stating God is our Captain and He is with us 24/7 on land and sea to guide and lead us as He has so faithfully done for soon to be 50 years of safe sailing as a club where we only need to call upon His name. Thanksgiving weekend wrapped up with a Raft Up in Smoke House Bay where over 40 sailors and guests arrived in five sail boats, one motor boat, one Kayak, and one dinghy. Nine land cruisers were taxied on board by three dinghies. NO ONE was left out to enjoy this fun-filled event of inter-club eating, laughing and celebrating Thanksgiving weekend in Paradise under clear blue skies, sunshine and a gentle Gulf breeze. Just another reminder of how thankful we should be and to whom. Now it is time to celebrate the season of giving by celebrating our greatest gift of all, CHRISTMAS. MIYC will be the venue. A special, all-inclusive steak dinner will be provided by Chef Bob and staff. A table will be set up for Christmas gifts for the children of the Guadalupe Center to be displayed. So mark your calendar for Sunday, December 9th. 69 pm to attend SAMI'S Annual Christmas Dinner Party in the spirit of GIVING! RSVP Confirmation will be when your personal check for $40.00 per person, made out to SAMI and mailed to P. O. Box 61, Marco Island, Florida, is RECEIVED! To ensure Chef Bob and Staff know how many guests to provide for PLEASE MAIL ASAP! However, if you are away, and cannot share this Christmas Holiday celebration with us, enjoy your Holiday in Happiness and Good Health wherever you are.

CRUISIN ABOUT Peter Coggins, Rear Commodore Hello SAMI SAILORS, I apologize for being so delayed in being in Marco and being an active rear commodore.

We currently won t be able to leave NJ until the end of January. Thank you very much for your help.

Southwest Florida. On October 27th the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club hosted the Naples Commodore s Cup. It was an excellent day of racing with good winds and blue skies.

Please save the date for SAMI s signature event, the Bud Light Regatta, which we are hosting the weekend of April 6-7th. We really are hoping to get better club participation in this regatta.

I sincerely appreciate how our fellow Board members and reliable SAMI cruisers have stepped up and filled in for me during this difficult period. We currently won t be able to leave NJ until the end of January. Thank you very much for your help. SAMI Christmas Party Sunday, December 9 Marco Island Yacht Club 6:00 pm Steak Dinner $40 / person inclusive AROUND THE BUOYS Rob Reiley, Fleet Captain The racing season is in full swing here in Southwest Florida. On October 27th the Naples Sailing and Yacht Club hosted the Naples Commodore s Cup. It was an excellent day of racing with good winds and blue skies. They managed to get four races in that day. On December 8th the Gulf Coast Sailing Club is hosting the Ft. Meyers to Naples Offshore race. GCSC always manages to turn this into a fun event. Please save the date for SAMI s signature event, the Bud Light Regatta, which we are hosting the weekend of April 6-7th. We really are hoping to get better club participation in this regatta.
