2 summer camps & sailing programs d Summer Day Camps (ages 4-16) Monday, June 23-Friday, August 22 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Extended daycare provided Monday Thursday, 3-5 p.m., $75 per child, except for Junior Explorers, Shared Earth, Water, and Skies, and Mythical Mystic. 4- and 5-year-olds Junior Explorers June 23-26, June 30-July 3 morning session: 9 a.m. 12 p.m. (drop off starts 8:30 a.m.) or afternoon session: 1 4 p.m. (drop off starts 12:30 p.m.) This high-energy, fast-paced program features hands-on activities in exhibits and ships, unique games and fantastic craft projects. Travel the universe on Star Day, explore the ocean deep and the Mystic River on Sea Critter Day, and discover the secret lives of sailors aboard ships on Jack Tar day. Members: $130 Non-members: $155 Girls of Long Ago July Discover what opportunities girls in the 1800s had and what their daily lives were like. Step back in time as you try your hand at 19th-century cooking and housekeeping. Learn to hand sew and make old-fashioned accessories for the home, and explore the medicinal nature of our gardens. Discover real stories of young women who lived aboard sailing ships. 6- and 7-year-olds Seaport Sampler July 7-11, July Boys and girls get a kids-eye-view of Mystic Seaport while sampling many different hands-on activities in exhibits, and do games, crafts, and music. From riding on the steamboat Sabino to rolling a cask, the children absorb maritime history through active learning. 7- and 8-year-olds Arts from Around the World July 28-August 1, August This is a hands-on arts program for children to learn about countries and cultures around the world. Each day, the children will travel to a different area of the world and make fantastic art projects as well as explore the Museum s unique exhibits. Serpents, Secrets and Sailors Superstitions August 4-8 Examine secrets, sea monsters, and superstitions of the sea. Explore the facts and fiction of mermaids, ghosts, and shipwrecks based on survivors sightings and scientific research. Make fabulous art projects and do hands-on activities.
3 Shared Earth, Water, and Skies with the Nature Center August Learn how life on land and life at sea are interconnected. Find your way through the woods and across the oceans using compasses and by following the stars. At the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center campers test their orienteering skills, meet live animals and investigate the food webs that link the land and sea. At Mystic Seaport you explore navigation, life in a coastal town, and how the marine world connects with the terrestrial world. Mythical Mystic: Fact vs. Fiction August This joint camp with the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center investigates local legends and fact versus fiction surrounding the strange creatures that live in our area. Campers explore the folklore of sea monsters, fairies and other legendary beings. This camp splits its days between exploring the hiking trails and woods of the Nature Center and discovering the secrets of the waterfront village at Mystic Seaport. 11- to 13-year-olds Growing Up in Greenmanville July If you want to learn about the past by living it, then this camp is for you is an exciting year full of nostalgia for America s colonial past as well as visions of the future. You investigate the families, manners, and pastimes of the girls who called Mystic home in Members: $340 Non-members: $ to 16-year-olds Living the History: The Girls of Greenmanville July In this program you learn about firstperson interpretation by researching and adopting personas of young women living in Mystic From exploring 19th-century documents to donning an outfit in our character's wardrobe, you will understand how girls at that time became women and how little difference there is between young women now and then. Members: $340 Non-members: $380 Joseph Conrad Overnight Summer Sailing Camp (ages 10-15) Sunday 4 p.m.-friday 1 p.m. Whether your child has sailing experience or never set foot in a boat before, each of the overnight summer camp programs is designed to teach basic sailing skills through more advanced techniques depending on each camper s individual needs. Choose the camp based on your child s age as of the start of the camp week. In addition to sailing, campers have the unique opportunity to explore all that Mystic Seaport has to offer. Beginner (ages 10-12) June 22-27, July 6-11, July 27-August 1 Beginner/Intermediate (ages 13-15) July 13-18, August 3-8 Intermediate (ages 13-15) June 29-July 4, July 20-25, August Members: $635 Non-members: $690 Mystic River Adventure with Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium (ages 9-12) Monday-Friday, June 23-27, July 28-August 1, August :30 a.m.-4 p.m. Join us for a joint Mystic Seaport/Mystic Aquarium summer program. At the Aquarium (8:30 a.m. 12 p.m.) your child will learn about the animals and habitats of the Mystic River and Long Island Sound. After lunch (12 1 p.m.), we will travel to Mystic Seaport for a sailing adventure (1 4 p.m.). No matter what your child s knowledge level is, they will find the sailing at Mystic Seaport an incredible experience. Your child must be able to swim. 4 Brilliant for Teens Monday, June 16-Wednesday, August 13 All voyages start 9 a.m. in Mystic and finish 4 p.m. in Mystic Experience the adventure and challenge of sailing while visiting New England harbors and towns aboard schooner Brilliant. Nine teenagers, on either five- or ten-day voyages, work together under the guidance of the professional crew to safely sail hundreds of miles and learn traditional seamanship skills. The Brilliant program focuses on educating participants about sail handling and theory, teamwork, being a good shipmate, stewardship, navigation, and proper seamanship. All teens are expected to fully participate in all aspects of daily vessel operations from hauling on lines and steering to helping in the galley. No previous sailing experience is necessary. Five-Day Programs (ages 15-18) June 16-20, 23-27, June 30-July 4, July 21-25, July 28-August 1 Members: $920 Non-members: $970 Ten-Day Programs (ages 15 18) July 7-16, August 4-13 Members: $1,870 Non-members: $1,920 Community Sailing Programs There s no better place to get out on the water than Mystic Seaport. No matter what your skill level, it s easy to find the right class for you. Our junior and family programs are for beginner and intermediate sailors using JY15s. Competent swimmers ages 15 and older may enroll in adult classes. Classes are taught by experienced sailors who have been certified by the U.S. Sailing Association. Sundays, April 6-June 8 (no classes April 20 & May 25) September 21-November 9 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays, June 28-29, July 26-27, August 16-17,9 a.m.-5 p.m. Intermediate If you are comfortable sailing a small boat alone and have mastered the basic beginner skills, this course is for you. Sundays, April 6-June 8 (no classes April 20 & May 25) September 21-November 9, 1:30-4:30 p.m. July12-13, August 2-3, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Youth Sailing Beginner These classes build confidence in boat handling through repeated on-thewater practice. Taught by experienced, certified instructors. Mondays-Fridays, June 23-27, June 30-July4 July 7-11, 14-18, 21-25, July 28-August 1, August 4-8, 11-15, :30-11:30 a.m. Intermediate These classes refine the basic sailing skills by learning more about how a sailboat reacts to wind and water currents. Mondays-Fridays June 30-July 4, July 7-11, 14-18, 21-25, August 4-8, :30-3:30 p.m. Family Sailing These classes are designed for children and their parents or grandparents to learn the basics of sailing together. Saturdays-Sundays July 5-6, 19-20, August :30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Homeschool Sailing (ages 8-14) Homeschool community sailing programs at Mystic Seaport build confidence in boat handling through on-the-water practice. Fridays, April 25-June 13 September 12-October 31 9:30 a.m-12:30 p.m.

Then take off another 10% when you register siblings or sign up for multiple camp sessions this discount does not apply to the Brilliant program. Please note: the early registration discount expires after March 31, but the sibling/multiple camp session discount does not expire.
