ORGANISING AUTHORITY The Organising Authrity (AO) is The Darwin Sailing Club (DSC) 1. RULES AND REGULATIONS General The races will be gverned by the current versins f: the Racing Rules f Sailing ( RRS ) f the Internatinal Sailing Federatin (ISAF); the ORCc 2017 Rule; the Prescriptins and Special Regulatins f Australian Sailing ( ASSR ); the event is als gverned by the Internatinal Regulatins fr the Preventin f Cllisin at Sea (1972), NT Maritime requirements, and applicable Darwin Prts Crpratin requirements; and this Ntice f Race ( NR ), except as any f these are mdified by the sailing Instructins (SIs). the Special Regulatins: Each bat shall cmply with the nminated Race Categry f each race and carry n bard the specific equipment applicable under the Australian Sailing Special Regulatins Part 1, which will be Categry 4 except that SR (b) will apply. An alternative antenna may be substituted where it can be demnstrated that it prvides identical r superir range t the mast head antenna. All bats are required t submit a Special Regulatins Cmpliance Declaratin Frm applicable fr the categry f race, with their series r race entry. All bats are required t carry a VHF radi and shall maintain a 24 hur listening watch fr the duratin f their race n VHF Channel 16 Changes t the RRS: RRS 41: Whilst racing a bat may retrieve data frm any page f the event websites r dwnsail.cm.au, even if thse pages are nt publicly available. RRS 50.2 & 50.3: Fixed and retractable spinnaker ples and bwsprits will be permitted fr the purpse f setting asymmetrical spinnakers. RRS 61.3: N prtests may be submitted after 1800 hurs (CST) n 11 th September 2017, except when seeking redress. There is n time limit n prtests by the Race Cmmittee r the Prtest Cmmittee. An AIS Transpnder is recmmended fr Categry 3 races Ntices and Amendments Ntices t cmpetitrs will be psted n the Official Ntice Bard lcated n the grund flr f the Sailing Twer and n the event website.

2 2. ADVERTISING Bats may be required t display an event spnsr s name and/r lg in accrdance with WS Regulatin ELIGIBILITY OF BOATS Bats must cmply with AS SR Part 1 fr Categry 3 races. Have a minimum waterline length f 6.0 metres and nt be classified as a DAYBOAT ; and Prvide a current AS SR Equipment Cmpliance Frm fr Categry 3 events (r higher categry), signed and dated by the wner r wner s representative. The OA may require an audit f the bat against the Equipment Cmpliance Frm. Be registered with a Yacht Club affiliated with its Natinal Authrity 4. ELIGIBILITY OF CREW AND QUALIFICATIONS Crew eligibility shall be as per the AS SR fr Categry 3 events. The OA may request evidence f the crew s qualificatins be prvided n later than the clse f entries as listed in the NR The fllwing additinal arrangements shall apply. The minimum number f crew (including the persn in charge) n any bat shall be three. The majrity f crew shuld be a minimum age f 18 years. All crew members must be a member f a Club affiliated with a state r territry yachting authrity (MYA) f Australian Sailing and Australian Sailing Sailr Identificatin Number hlder. A bat s crew list may be changed t crrect errrs, t amend fr late crew changes r after prtest, but shall nt be changed later than ne hur prir t the starting signal. After a change t the crew list, the bat shall still satisfy the requirements f this NR. Determinatin f Eligibility. A decisin f the OA r RC as t any matter under the eligibility sectin f this NR, including as t whether a bat and her crew meet the eligibility criteria fr entry in the race is final and binding and will nt be grunds fr a request fr redress. 5. SUBMISSION OF ENTRY AND DOCMENTATION DETAILS Bat entries and crew details shall be submitted nline thrugh the TES nline entry system at An entry is invalid (refer t RRS 76.1) until the apprpriate cmpleted dcumentatin has been submitted, reviewed and apprved by the Sailing Office. Eligible bats shall ldge their entry t cmpete and update their crew details (per race) at least 72 hurs prir t the start f the applicable race. Refer t the NR Schedule f Events and clse f entries. The OA is nt respnsible fr any failure f, r errrs in the infrmatin prvided t it thrugh the TpYacht entry systems. The wner and the Persn in Charge must prvide the Organising Authrity a:

3 Signed cpy f the Declaratin f Cmpliance and Disclaimer and Acknwledgement f Rights Frm (refer t NR Appendix?) A cmpleted current AS SR Equipment Cmpliance Frm fr Categry 3 races Submit nline a cmpleted Crew List, NK cntact detail and qualificatins Submit n line a Clur digital phtgraph f the bat under sail, n lder than 12 mnths and suitable fr search and rescue purpses. The image must have a reslutin f nt less than 400DPI; Persnal infrmatin abut crew members is btained frm the crew lists. That infrmatin is btained fr use in search and rescue peratins. The infrmatin may be prvided t search and rescue authrities and rganisatins, the water plice, vlunteer rescue rganisatins and media representatives and may be passed n t them by ther rganisatins. A cnditin f entry is that the Persn in Charge must infrm all crew members that their persnal infrmatin may be used fr SAR purpses and advise them that they may btain access t their persnal infrmatin by cntacting the OA. Changes t supplied dcumentatin Dcumentatin supplied r held by the OA under this ntice f Race (ther than crew lists) must nt be changed (except t crrect errrs r after prtest) after 24 hurs frm the clse f entry. A bat s crew list may be changed t crrect errrs, t amend fr late crew changes r after prtest, but shall nt be changed later than tw hurs prir t the starting signal. After any change t a crew list the bat shall still satisfy the general requirements f this NR. Changes t the crew r details f any crew member shall be updated in a bat s entry via the TpYacht nline entry system and the OA ntified f the change. The Sailing Office will cnfirm an eligible entry prir t the start f each race via cmmunicatin r telephne. FEES Series entry $300 Casual per race $ 75 Bats n the current DSC bat register Free Entry. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS Fish Reef Start: 1000 hurs 27 th May 2017 Buchanan Island Start: 1000 hurs 24 th June 2017 Rper Rck Start: 1000 hurs 22nd July 2017 Knight s Reef Start: 1000 hurs 26 th August 2017 Marsh Shal Start: 1000 hurs 9 th September HANDICAP

4 Div. 1, 2 & 4: ORC Club Handicaps will be used. DSC Perfrmance Handicap (Offshre) results will als be prvided. Div. 3: DSC Perfrmance Handicap (Offshre) results will be used. The Race Cmmittee in its discretin may allcate bats t divisins within a handicap categry. 8. SCORING Results will be decided by the applicatin f Time Crrectin Factrs (TCFs) as a multiplier f elapsed times. The TCF will be determined by the RC and shall nt be subject t prtest r request fr redress. Changes RRS 60.1(a) and 62.1(a). ORC TCFs will be updated frm the published infrmatin n the ORC website 24 hurs befre the race start. The bat with the lwest crrected time (after applicatin f scring penalties, if any) will be scred first. A bat s series scre shall be the ttal f her race scres discarding her wrst scre. If less than five (5) races are held a bats scre will be the ttal f her race scres. Three races shall cnstitute a series. 9. PROTESTS The Prtest Limit Times shall be 1800hrs n the Mnday immediately after the scheduled race. Prtest frms shall be submitted t the DSC Sailing Office as per RRS 61.2 Prtests may be held at the DSC Clubhuse n the fllwing Thursday evening. Requests t pstpne a hearing must be in writing t the Prtest Cmmittee Chairman. A ntice advising the time f hearing f any prtests will be psted n the Official Ntice Bard after the finish f prtest time. Display f the prtest is the fficial ntificatin t the parties that a prtest hearing is t be held. DSC will, in additin, make reasnable attempts by r telephne t advise parties t the prtest f the time, date and place f the hearing. The utcme f any prtest hearing will be displayed n the DSC Official Ntice Bard and made available n the club s website. 10. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructins will be published n the DSC website http//dwnsail.cm.au/ 11. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY The Organising Authrity, the Race Cmmittee, the event spnsrs and their respective representatives, fficers, members and vlunteers accept n liability whatsever fr any lss f life, prperty, persnal injury r damage caused by r arising ut f the Arafura Shrt Offshre Pint Scre Series. The Owner and r the Persn In Charge and all crew are aware and acknwledge by entering the race that they cmpete entirely at their wn risk. 5 12. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY & RESPONSIBILITIES By submitting an entry, the Owner and r Persn in charge agrees t be bund by all the rules and cnditins f the race and acknwledges and accepts: a. That fr the Arafura Shrt Offshre Pint Scre Series the Organising Authrity and r Race Cmmittee reserve the right t alter r vary any part f the race, including its curse shuld cnditins prevent the safe cnduct f a race; b. They and the crew are familiar with and understand the Racing Rules f Sailing (RRS) and the bat cmplies (where applicable) with all the Yachting Australia Special Regulatins; c. They and the crew are familiar with and understand Rule 4 Decisin t Race, Addendum A (Safety Equipment) and Rule 1.02 Owners Respnsibility f the Yachting Australia Special Regulatins; d. They and the crew are familiar with and understand the Declaratin f Cmpliance and Disclaimer and Acknwledgement f Rights. The Owner and r Persn in Charge acknwledge that all their crew are satisfied as t the experience f the skipper and the adequacy f the bat, all safety equipment abard the bat and insurance arrangements. The entry f the bat is acknwledgment that the Owner and r Persn in Charge and all crew are individually aware f and cnversant with the risks invlved in the sprt f ffshre racing and that the participatin in this event is entirely at the risk f the Owner and r Persn in Charge and crew; The wner and r Persn in Charge warrant the suitability f the bat fr the race; The safety f a bat and her entire management including insurance shall be the sle respnsibility f the Owner and r Persn in Charge wh must ensure that the bat is fully fund, thrughly seawrthy, and managed by a crew f sufficient number and experience wh are physically fit. The Owner and r Persn in Charge must be satisfied as t the sundness f the hull, spars, rigging, sails and all gear. They must ensure that all safety equipment is prperly maintained, stwed and in date and that the crew knw where it is kept and hw it is t be used; Neither the existence f these cnditins, and their use by the race rganisers, r the inspectin f the bat pursuant t these cnditins in any way limits the abslute respnsibility f the Owner and r Persn in Charge and crew; Neither The Darwin sailing Club nr its fficers, emplyees nr agents shall be respnsible r liable fr any lss, damage, death r persnal injury hwever caused t the wner/charterer, his r her skipper r crew r their prperty as a result f their taking part in the Arafura Shrt Offshre Pint Scre Series and their related activities, including pre start and pst finish peratins and related shre activities; Neither The Darwin Sailing Club nr its fficers, emplyees r agents will be liable fr any csts r expenses that may be incurred as a result f special assistance at sea being arranged fr any reasn whatsever; 13. INSURANCE All bats shall have a current marine legal pubic liability insurance plicy fr the duratin f race, with a sum insured f nt less than AUD$10 millin (r its equivalent in anther currency). The plicy must state that the bat is insured fr the

6 race (r racing) in which it is participating in and that it is cvered fr a length greater than the length f the race in which it is participating. 14. CHARTS Charts shall be carried n bard, in accrdance t AS SR Part It is the respnsibility f the persn in charge t ensure the bat carries suitably updated cpies f all charts necessary fr the safe navigatin f the yacht at all times. Where electrnic charts are being used in additin t paper charts it is the respnsibility f the persn in charge f the vessel t ensure the electrnic charts have been suitably updated. 15. DECLARATION FORMS All bats shall cmplete a Race Declaratin Frm at the cmpletin f each scheduled race. Declaratins shall be submitted t the Race Cmmittee r Sailing Office n later than 1800hrs n the Mnday immediately after each scheduled race. Failure t d s shall scre the bat as a Did Nt Finish (DNF) unless the Race Cmmittee decides therwise. 16. RESULTS AND PRIZES Final race results will be published n the Tuesday preceding the next scheduled race. Series Pint Scre prizes may be awarded at the Annual Presentatin. Additinal prizes may be awarded at the discretin f the Race Cmmittee. 17. MEDIA RIGHTS AND RESTRICTIONS The Owner and r Persn in Charge f the bat and all crew members acknwledge that the OA wns all media rights and may exercise thse rights. 18.
