Katrina Ham 26 year old Australian, based in Lorient France After discovering her passion for sailing at high school, Katrina s done everything she can to be involved in the sport.

Armed with a Sports Management degree, Katrina has travelled the world to gain skills and experience to help her reach her goal.

2 Katrina Ham 26 year old Australian, based in Lorient France After discovering her passion for sailing at high school, Katrina s done everything she can to be involved in the sport. Ever since her first offshore race, she has had a goal - solo ocean racing! Armed with a Sports Management degree, Katrina has travelled the world to gain skills and experience to help her reach her goal. She has worked on Americas Cup yachts in Mexico, delivered yachts in Europe and across the Atlantic, completed yacht refits as well as working as a charter race skipper in the UK. Over the past two years, Katrina has worked for professional short handed IMOCA 60 and Class 40 teams, to learn more about high performance racing and campaign management. Having identified the Mini Transat as a gateway to solo ocean racing, Katrina competed on the Classe Mini Circuit double handed in 2012 before setting her sights on the 2013 Mini Transat. After a busy year of qualification and a lot of hard work Katrina made it to the start line. Unfortunately Katrina s dream was shattered in a heart breaking incident while she was undertow from an official race. Even after swimming for her life in 2013, Katrina s determination to complete the Mini Transat hasn t faded a bit..for her it is unfinished business!!!

From moving to France with no money, job or French to lessons learnt from swimming for her life the topics can be varied and entertaining for non-sailors.
