She retains her stability with the centreboard up, thus enabling superb broach-proof tracking downwind in heavy conditions sufficiently long and shaped to move well under engine or sail, she is also predictable and stable in the rough. Crew can sleep and move well and safely below or on deck. The ability to operate with the board up is an invaluable design feature not just for shallow water operation but for heavy weather at sea. She can dry out flat on her flat bottom. With extremely heavy bottom plate, a strong rudder and protected prop, she can be beached in all sorts of conditions whether for convenience (scrub down in a far-flung harbour), fun, or safety (hurricane avoidance etc.).
