Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted in 1.9 the material of construction that reference is made to European Standard EN for inner tank, outer tank and baffles. However, from doc we understand that mechanical properties are taken from ASME. Please clarify the standard. N LINE N P&ID PLATE Line J : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) Tank outlet to the pressure relief valves should remain in the vapour phase at the 98% liquid level and IGF Code specified list and trim. According to IGF Code PRVs shall be connected to the highest part of the fuel tank. PRVs shall be positioned on the fuel tank so that will remain in the vapour phase at the maximum filling limit under the conditions of 15 list and 0.015L trim. The distance between the inclined liquid surface due to trim and list and the inlet of the pipe going to the pressure relief valves is to be calculated and submitted to the Society to make sure that the inlet is above the liquid level at all conditions. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted that when calculating the cylindrical shell thickness, the design stress of the shell material has been taken as 270MPa (Value S in page 9/22). According to IGF Code For austenitic steels, the allowable stress shall be the minimum between Rm/A and Re/B, where values A and B shall have at least the minimum following values: A=3.5 and B=1.5. As SA states mechanical properties: Re0.2%=205MPa and Rm=515MPa, the allowable stress will be 136,66MPa. It means, that you will obtain a required value of cylindrical shell thickness higher than before. Please update the calculation. N OUTER TANK ASSEMBLY Accidental conditions : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) According to IGF Code the tanks and tank support shall be designed for the accidental loads: collision and flooded compartment causing buoyancy on tank (if tank fitted in fuel storage hold space). - It is understood that 2g has been taken as collision load. Please confirm our understanding or clarify. - Clarify how buoyancy has been considered? or the tank container will be fitted only on open deck? Dished ends : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted that when calculating the dished end thickness, the design stress of the head material has been taken as 270MPa (Value S in page 9/22). According to IGF Code For austenitic steels, the allowable stress shall be the minimum between Rm/A and Re/B, where values A and B shall have at least the minimum following values: A=3.5 and B=1.5. According to NR529 rev.02 C the relieving capacity of the PRVs is to be sufficient to discharge the vapours generated by the PBU heat exchanger at its maximum capacity. We can not identify how this has been taken into account in the calculation. Please clarify. Clarification : (C. To be clarified. 1 - It is noted that wind loads have not been taken into account in the calculation. These loads shall be taken into account for fuel tanks installed on open deck unless justifed (e.g: confirmation of no relevant wind loads in the operating area of the ship). 2 - Green sea loads to be considered unless wave slap is practically impossible (e.g: free height from the ship waterline until the LNG tank or protecting superstructure around the tank). 3 - Snow and ice loads to be also considered for fuel tanks located onboard ships operating in low air temperature.
