Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) This document/drawing has been reviewed according to IGF Code (MSC.391(95)) and NR529 rev.02 dated Standard : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted in 1.9 the material of construction that reference is made to European Standard EN for inner tank, outer tank and baffles. However, from doc we understand that mechanical properties are taken from ASME. Please clarify the standard. N LINE N P&ID PLATE Line J : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted that line J is a single wall pipe connected below the highest liquid level of the tank and this lines goes up to the PBU (in the P&ID). According to IGF Code if piping is connected below the liquid level of the tank, it has to be protected by a secondary barrier up to the first valve. Please update. Page 2/8

Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) Tank outlet to the pressure relief valves should remain in the vapour phase at the 98% liquid level and IGF Code specified list and trim. According to IGF Code PRVs shall be connected to the highest part of the fuel tank. PRVs shall be positioned on the fuel tank so that will remain in the vapour phase at the maximum filling limit under the conditions of 15 list and 0.015L trim. The distance between the inclined liquid surface due to trim and list and the inlet of the pipe going to the pressure relief valves is to be calculated and submitted to the Society to make sure that the inlet is above the liquid level at all conditions. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted that 1,0 barg has been taken as external design pressure (page 1/6). According to IGF Code the design external pressure Pe in MPa, used for verifying the buckling of pressure vessels shall not be less than P1+P2+P3+P4. Please define the values of P1, P2, P3 and P4 considered to obtain only 1barg as external design pressure. Page 3/8

Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted that when calculating the cylindrical shell thickness, the design stress of the shell material has been taken as 270MPa (Value S in page 9/22). According to IGF Code For austenitic steels, the allowable stress shall be the minimum between Rm/A and Re/B, where values A and B shall have at least the minimum following values: A=3.5 and B=1.5. As SA states mechanical properties: Re0.2%=205MPa and Rm=515MPa, the allowable stress will be 136,66MPa. It means, that you will obtain a required value of cylindrical shell thickness higher than before. Please update the calculation. N OUTER TANK ASSEMBLY Accidental conditions : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) According to IGF Code the tanks and tank support shall be designed for the accidental loads: collision and flooded compartment causing buoyancy on tank (if tank fitted in fuel storage hold space). - It is understood that 2g has been taken as collision load. Please confirm our understanding or clarify. - Clarify how buoyancy has been considered? or the tank container will be fitted only on open deck? Dished ends : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) It is noted that when calculating the dished end thickness, the design stress of the head material has been taken as 270MPa (Value S in page 9/22). According to IGF Code For austenitic steels, the allowable stress shall be the minimum between Rm/A and Re/B, where values A and B shall have at least the minimum following values: A=3.5 and B=1.5. As SA states mechanical properties: Re0.2%=205MPa and Rm=515MPa, the allowable stress will be 136,66MPa. It means, that you will obtain a required value of heads thickness higher than before. Tank valves whether accessible or not shall be automatically operated when the safety system is activated. Tank valves are V1, V3 and also V8. Please correct or clarify. Tank instrumentation : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) According to IGF 15.4, Each liquefied gas fuel tank shall be fitted with : 1. a liquid level gauging device(s), arranged to ensure a level reading is always obtainable. We understand that this can be achieved by LG1 level gauge. Please confirm. 2. a high liquid level alarm operating independently of other liquid level indicators and giving an audible and visual warning when activated. 3. An additional sensor operating independently of the high liquid level alarm shall automatically actuate a shutoff valve. We understand that the two level transmitters LT1 and LT2 will operate and trigger high alarm and high high level alarm idependently. Please confirm and clarify which one gives the High Alarm and which one gives the High High Alarm. ID : LPO Connection to ship control and safety system : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) According to IGF Control and monitoring systems for portable fuel tanks shall be integrated in the ship's control and monitoring system. Safety system for portable fuel tanks shall be integrated in the ship's safety system (e.g. shutdown systems for tank valves, leak/gas detection systems). PBU vapours : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) A Pressure Build up unit is noted in line J. According to NR529 rev.02 C the relieving capacity of the PRVs is to be sufficient to discharge the vapours generated by the PBU heat exchanger at its maximum capacity. We can not identify how this has been taken into account in the calculation. Please clarify. Clarification : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) 1- It is undersood that PSVs calculation has been performed for pure methane (100%CH4). Please confirm. 2- From which standard/encyclopedia the values of enthalpy, etc have been taken? 3- It is noted that k is taken as According to IGF Code, k value shall be between 1.0 and 2.2. Please correct. 4- Specify the values: Cp and Cv 5- We understand that value C corresponds to value D in IGF Code. 6- Gas factor G shall be indicated in the calculation. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) Determination of stress according to IGF during hydrostatic test to be included to ensure that the calculated primary membrane stress at any point will not exceed 90% of yield strength of the material at the test temperature. However according to IGF Code hydrostatic test shall not be less than 1,5*P0. Please update the value. Environmental loads : (C. Remiro Bellostas (BV PARIS) on 30 Oct 2017 ) At this moment it is not clear if the LNG tank container is foreseen to be fitted on weather deck or in a fuel storage hold space. To be clarified. 1 - It is noted that wind loads have not been taken into account in the calculation. These loads shall be taken into account for fuel tanks installed on open deck unless justifed (e.g: confirmation of no relevant wind loads in the operating area of the ship). 2 - Green sea loads to be considered unless wave slap is practically impossible (e.g: free height from the ship waterline until the LNG tank or protecting superstructure around the tank). 3 - Snow and ice loads to be also considered for fuel tanks located onboard ships operating in low air temperature.
