2 Special Announcements This year marks one with numerous standards changes. While many changes were made to simply fix typos or to change language for consistency throughout the standards, there are also some major changes to the standards that we want to highlight: Accident Reporting: All agency standards now include updated text for In the event of an Accident which guides members on reporting procedures of accidents in and out of training. RESA: The Rebreather Education & Safety Association published universal standards in There are a number of TDI CCR standard updates that bring TDI in compliance with these standards. More information on RESA can be found at rebreather.org. Non-Scuba Liability Form: A non-scuba liability form has been added. CPROX: References to the CPROX suite of certifications have been updated to prepare for the launch of a new suite of CPR, 1 st aid and AED materials. Below you will find all 2019 Standards changes. Either download the current standards from the members area of (preferred method) or use the section numbers below to locate and update paper standards. SDI Standards and Procedures Part 1 Introduction Risk Management Renumber to and add new section In the Event of an Accident If an accident were to occur, your primary concern is to care for the victim. Additional concerns include: Secure the victim's equipment - in a serious accident, local authorities may take custody of the equipment Gather all relevant information, using the International Training accident/incident report form Be sympathetic to victim's family and friends Do not speculate about the facts of the incident Make no comments regarding anyone's potential liability Take photographs of everything As soon as possible, or fax the completed accident/incident report to International Training or your local regional office. Include a copy of any applicable liability release. If the accident occurred during training, also include copies of the medical statement and all student training records. Every accident should be reported (even relatively minor ones). If your insurance company requires certain reporting procedures, those should be followed as well. If the incident occurred during a training program conducted through another agency, the

3 instructor should follow the procedures of that agency. Whenever possible, submit the same report to all parties (avoid multiple versions of the report). Cooperate with any subsequent official investigation. This may be conducted by International Training, local authorities, and other training agencies. Refrain from making statements to the news media or to anyone else. Prudent dive professionals will have established emergency procedures and have established emergency plans for all training locations used. Staying current with CPR and first aid certifications demonstrates prudence. Verify that you have proper contact information for emergency services for each location. Be ready to control the scene, assign tasks, and evaluate the equipment used and surroundings. Take copious notes, establish a timeline for the report, and photograph equipment and the surrounding area. Interview witnesses and get observations from numerous witnesses if possible to help with the report. Be sure to complete the accident report in a timely manner, submit it to the proper entities or individuals, and do not share with third parties. HQ Quality Assurance Steps Step 4 remove last sentence. Now reads HQ will send course surveys to former students. Updated TDI Instructor Registration form to clarify instructor candidate versus instructor trainer, added courses to form. References to CPROX, CPR1st and CPROX1stAED removed from member update form and replaced with First Response Training International ratings. Updated form names. ERDI Standards and Procedures Part 1 Introduction Clarified that medical form is not required for non-diving courses Added new Diver registration form to forms that must be retained. Replace entire section 3.2 with 3.2 In the Event of an Accident If an accident were to occur, your primary concern is to care for the victim. Additional concerns include: Secure the victim's equipment - in a serious accident, local authorities may take custody of the equipment Gather all relevant information, using the International Training accident/incident report form Be sympathetic to victim's family and friends Do not speculate about the facts of the incident Make no comments regarding anyone's potential liability Take photographs of everything

16 As soon as possible, or fax the completed accident/incident report to International Training or your local regional office. Include a copy of any applicable liability release. If the accident occurred during training, also include copies of the medical statement and all student training records. Every accident should be reported (even relatively minor ones). If your insurance company requires certain reporting procedures, those should be followed as well. If the incident occurred during a training program conducted through another agency, the instructor should follow the procedures of that agency. Be sure to complete the accident report in a timely manner, submit it to the proper entities or individuals, and do not share with third parties Step 4 Now reads Headquarters will send course surveys to former students. Part 2 Diver Standards Clarified CPR, 1 st aid and oxygen administration certification requirements throughout; removed references to specific CPROX, CPR1st and/or CPROX1st AED programs. Part 3 Ops Standards Add elearning to all applicable courses Clarified CPR, first aid and oxygen provider certification requirements in all applicable courses; remove references to specific CPROX, CPR1st and/or CPROX1st AED programs. Clarified some ops with who may teach to also include the ERDI Non-Diving Specialty Instructor. Affects Sections 8.4, 9.4, 11.4 Small Boat Operations Add or Non-Diving Specialty Instructor Tender Ops 11.6 Add new 1. ERDI Tender student manual and Knowledge Quest or elearning, 2. ERDI Line Tender slates, 3. ERDI Tender Instructor Guide, and renumbered old item 1 to item 4. Part 4 Leadership Standards Clarified CPR, First aid and oxygen administration certification requirements throughout; remove references to specific CPROX, CPR1st and/or CPROX1st AED programs.

17 Non-Diving Specialty Instructor Change to read Other non-diving ops components or specialties Part 5 Forms Download new forms once 2019 Standards are published.
