Safety Initiatives within DOTD Chris Mcmorris DOTD Program Supervisor (Safety)
Safety Initiatives within DOTD As an employee we encounter the potential for injury from the time we leave our homes until we return there. Please think first and then react SAFE.
Safety Initiatives within DOTD Even though you may not be aware of it, all jobs have the potential for a Confined Space!

Safety Initiatives within DOTD Confined Spaces Why would Roadway Transportation need to train employees on Confined Spaces? What is the likelihood of an incident?
Safety Initiatives within DOTD According to some studies it is said that about 90 deaths involving Confined Spaces occur every year. Some studies show that about 40% of the Confined Space fatalities involve employees attempting to rescue.

What is a Confined Space? A confined space is an enclosed area with limited space and accessibility. These spaces may have the potential for Atmospheric Hazards, Engulfment Hazards, and/or Entrapment Hazards. A confined space allows an employee to bodily enter and perform assigned work, has limited access and egress, and is not designed for continuous occupancy.
Confined Space Program Questions 1. Types of Training Competent Person General Knowledge 2. Types of Confined Spaces Assessments or they Land Based/Maritime 3. Is Rescue Assistance Required Permit or Non-Permit 4. Necessary Equipment Monitor Rescue Equipment
