3 Group Swim Lessons Registration Information: Fees: Resident with a Pass $24 Resident without a Pass $44 Non-Resident with a pass $30 Non-Resident without a Pass $54 Registration Dates Session one Friday December 14, 2018 Session Two Friday Feb Session Three Friday March 1, 2019 Class Availability: Space availability limits each child to signing up for one class only. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Classes are limited to 6 swimmers with one instructor. Helpful Hints Beginner classes fill quickly, it is recommended to sign up on registration day Arrive early so class may begin on time Waiting List: If a class is filled you will be added to a wait list. If an opening in that class occurs you will be contacted. If there are enough to create a second class, you will be notified of the additional class. *Wait list is dependent on staff availability. How to choose the Correct Level of Swimming Lessons First Children enrolling in Pre-School lesson must be ages 3-6. Younger children not ready for lessons may be interested in our Aqua Tots swim class. Ages 7 and older need to register for the Level classes. Second Review the skills listed for each class. The skills needed in order to pass the class. Can your child complete all the skills listed? YES = advance to the next level NO = enroll in that class. Registration: Registration for session 2 and 3 will begins the Friday before classes start at 5:45 am at the Indoor Pool located at 602 E 8th St. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. *We DO NOT take over the phone registrations. *We take cash, check or credit cards. 4 Swim Lessons Aqua-Tots The Aqua-tots class is designed to familiarize 6 months to 36 months in water with help from a parent or guardian. The sessions are not intended to teach how to swim, but rather to get the child acquainted with the water. Guppies 1 (Age 3-6) The skills taught in Guppies I consist of: exiting the water safely, submerging the face, blowing bubbles, picking up a submerged object, maintain a front float position, swim on front and back. Each child must be at least 3 years old before the first class to register. Guppies 2 (Age 3-6) The skills taught in Guppies II consist of: exiting the water from the side, submerging entire head, blowing bubbles, picking up a submerged object, front and back float, front and back glide, front and back crawl. Child must be certified in Guppies I to register. Tadpoles (Age 3-6) The skills taught in Tadpoles consist of: jumping into deep water, head first entry, bobbing with the head submerged, rotary breathing, front and back glide, front and back crawl, and breast stroke. Child must be certified in Guppies II to register. Moonfish (Age 3-6) The skills taught in Moonfish consist of: diving, swimming underwater, treading water, front and back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly kick with body motion, sidestroke, and rotary breathing, Child must be certified in Tadpoles to register. Starfish (Age 3-6) The skills taught in Starfish consist of: diving, swimming underwater, treading water, front and back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and rotary breathing, Child must be certified in Moonfish to register. Level 1 (Age 7 & Up) The skills taught in Level I consist of: exiting the water safely, submerging entire head, bobbing, front and back float, front and back crawl. Each child must be at least 7 years old before the first class in order to register Level 2 (Age 7 & Up) The skills taught in Level II consist of: front and back float, front and back glide, change direction while swimming, front and back crawl, and elementary back stroke. Child must be certified in Level I to register. Level 3 (Age 7 & Up) The skills taught in Level III consist of: jumping into deep water, head first entry, submerge and retrieve an object, rotary breathing, front and back glide, tread water, front and back crawl. Child must be certified in Level II to register. Level 4 (Age 7 & Up) The skills taught in Level IV consist of: diving, surface diving, treading water, front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly kick with body motion, sidestroke, and rotary breathing, Child must be certified in Level III to register. Level 5 (Age 7 & Up) The skills taught in Level V consist of: diving, surface diving, swimming underwater, treading water, front and back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and rotary breathing, Child must be certified in Level IV to register. Level 6 (Age 7 & Up) The skills taught in Level VI consist of: refinement of the stokes so participants swim them with ease, efficient, power, and smoothness over greater distances. Child must be certified in Level V to register.

Cancellation and Refund Policy There will be no rescheduling or refunds for classes or passes If the facility cancels classes due to weather staff will try and reschedule, if no time is available then a credit will be given to the participant to be used at a later date If a child is voluntarily removed from lessons a credit will not be given. 7 Water Aerobics Class Description: This deep water workout includes calisthenics style movements with variations of upper and lower body resistive moves. You will march, jog, kick, jacks and jump through the water to create resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and flexibility. As the participant, you determine your own intensity by deciding how hard to manipulate the water. (45 minutes) Registration dates are the Thursday before the class starts. This class is appropriate for individual who have moderate to good fitness levels. *This class will be held in the deep end DATES DAYS TIME FEE Jan 8 - Jan 31 Tues/Thurs 5:45 6:30 pm Resident w/ Pass $24 Feb 5 - Feb 28 Tues/Thurs 5:45 6:30 pm Resident w/o Pass $44 Mar 5- Apr 4 Tues/Thurs 5:45 6:30 pm Non-Resident w/ Pass $30 (No class the week of Spring Break March 11-15) * must have a least 3 participants to have class Non-Resident w/o Pass $54 Drop In Fee (one class) $8 Drop ins are only accepted if there if enough registered for the class and if space is available. Registration: There is no registration needed. Class is held Monday Through Friday From 8:00 am to 8:45 am. Fees for residents is $2.50 and Non-Resident $3.00. Free to Members. Class Description: This recreational program includes exercises to improve the participant's overall function and performance of daily task, mobility, independence, flexibility, balance and coordination. (45 minutes)
8 Rentals Splish Splash Host a Birthday Bash! Have your next birthday at the Pella Aquatic Center where all the planning is done and you can have all the fun! Must be booked through the Aquatic Manager or Asst. Aquatic Manager. Private room on the deck for 2 hours 10 youth and 2 supervising individual admissions; $3 for each additional child, $4 for each additional individual Cake from Vander Ploeg Bakery in Pella; Serves 16 (white or chocolate cake) Plates, silverware, table cloths, and cups provided Must make reservation with 30% non-refundable deposit 2 weeks in advance Cost Residents $80 Non-resident $100 Available Fridays: 3:30pm-5:30pm or 4:00pm-6:00pm Available Saturdays: 11:00am-1:00pm or 12:00pm-2:00pm * Must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. Rent the Whole Facility Looking for a fun church group activity, fundraiser, or office party? Rent the entire Indoor pool after hours for a taste of summer during the winter. Available Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Please call for more information. Rentals must be booked through the Aquatic Manager or Asst. 9 Lifeguarding Lifeguards Wanted: Being a lifeguard may be the perfect job for you! The City of Pella is in need of more lifeguards this season. In order to become a lifeguard you are required to take the Ellis and Associates training course. The training course is a 4 session course dates and times listed below, which includes a written test. Before taking a job at the Pella Aquatic Center lifeguards must be an Ellis and Associates licensed guard. The Outdoor Aquatic Center is open Memorial Day to Mid August. For an application stop by the Indoor Pool at 602 E 8th St, or online at For any additional questions please contact the Aquatic Manager Alex Meyers at Lifeguard Class Dates and Times Course One: Feb. 18 3:45pm-7:00pm Feb. 20 2:00pm-6:00pm Feb. 22 3:45pm-6:00pm Feb. 25 3:45pm-6:00pm *Must Attend ALL Classes* *Cost of class is $130. Reimbursement for the class is possible if employee works the entire summer (end of May mid August) at the Pella Aquatic Center. Scholarships available. March, April, and May classes TBD *Class will meet in meeting room on the pool deck at the Aquatic Center. Please bring a swim suit and a towel to classes, as well as any note taking materials.
