Thank you for the support you have shown your child, teacher and the whole North Arm community throughout North Arm never ceases to amaze me in the way you support each other through the good and the not so good times. It is a privilege to be a part of such a community. We are busy in year level planning meetings for 2019 at present. It has been a great year; however, with a new curriculum focus on social and emotional development for 2019 and a renewed look at the Australian Curriculum I feel excited for the opportunities that our students will have in HEART OF NORTH ARM VOLUNTEER MORNING TEA We look forward to seeing many of you at our Volunteer High Tea this Friday 7 December at 10am. This is our chance to thank you for your amazing generosity this year! CHRISTMAS CONCERT The Christmas concert will begin at 5pm on Friday 7 th December in the hall. Please bring along your family members for a fun night out. They will not be disappointed. The children have been asked to dress in Christmas clothing to add to the spirit. STUDENT LEADERS A selected group of students have been nominated through a formal process to present a school leadership speech in the hall on Monday 10 th December at 9am. You are more than welcome to join us. Good luck to each of these children. REPORT CARDS Report cards will be ed home to the parents on Monday 10 th December. If you have any queries about the report card, please do not hesitate to contact your teacher. If you would like a hard copy sent home with your child, please contact the office or us asap CLASS LISTS 2019 Class lists will be on display underneath the Administration block next week. Please note these classes are subject to change on day 8, YEAR 6 GRADUATION The Year 6 Graduation will take place at the Nambour RSL on Tuesday 11 th December from 5pm. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to another cohort of fabulous students. I wish each of them every success in their future education endeavours. SWIMMING CARNIVAL Good luck to all of our swimmers on Wednesday 12 th December at the swimming carnival. DROP OFF ZONE Can I please ask all parents to respect our Drop off Zone area. It is imperative that your child is waiting for you at the Drop off Zone for a quick and immediate pick up or drop off. No one is to park their car and wait for their child in this zone. Thanks for your support in this matter. Kind Regards Carmel
2 BOOKLISTS 2019 Year 2 Booklist 2019 Year 3 Booklist 2019 Year 4 Booklist 2019 Year 5 Booklist 2019 Year 6 Booklist Prep and Year One students do not require parents to supply items for their booklist. Their items will be ordered in bulk through the school as we can purchase them at a much reduced price. Parents will be invoiced for this cost at the beginning of BAND INSTRUMENTS NEEDED The Concert Band members going into year 5 are looking for flutes, clarinets, trumpets, saxophones, trombones and even euphoniums and tubas to play next year. If you have any of these gathering dust in a cupboard that are in good condition and you'd be willing to sell, loan or donate to members of the Instrumental Music program, please see Bec Summers on Wednesdays in the hall or send her an on rjsum0@eq.edu.au. COOLUM COACHES BUS FORMS We have received from Coolum Coaches, bus forms for year 6 students to apply for bus passes for their year 7 schools. Some copies held in the office otherwise children can ask the bus drivers for the form. SPORTS NEWS SWIMMING CARNIVAL Hi All, Next Wednesday 12th is our annual Interhouse Swimming carnival. There will be no finals at our carnival due to time constraints. If students wish to be selected for the school team and receive points towards age champion students need to compete in the 50m Championship. Each 50m Championship Heat will be timed, the 3 fastest swimmers overall for each age group and event will receive points towards age champion. The 2 fastest swimmers for each age group and event will given the opportunity to represent North Arm Sate School at the 2019 District Swim Trails. 25m events are participation events, these events are not timed, and no age champion points are awarded for place getters in these races. The school will provide students with suncream and will encourage students to apply regularly during the day. If students haven't returned their permission letter to class teachers can they please do so as they will not be permitted to attend the carnival without a permission letter. If parents are able to assist on the day as timekeepers that would be fantastic and greatly appreciated. Any questions regarding the day please do not hesitate to me. Thanks Mr Mckie Makenzee Makenzee recently top scored at her ballet school in her Grade 4 Ballet Exam ( 93/100 a Distinction) She also received an Honours Plus in her Grade 3 Jazz Examination (100%). Successfully auditioned for a company place in a new Brisbane Contemporary Company "Riley Baldwin Co" who's written and producing the contemporary piece "The Hive" In the September 2019 school holidays this show will hit the stage. Competed at the Australian Regional in Brisbane of "Youth America Grand Prix. Has received an invitation from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy to attend a Summer Intensive in 2019 in New York. Makenzee maintained her spot with the ABS ITP and went up a level to Level 2. AND she also successfully auditioned with QB and has been offered a placement there. Again congratulations Makenzee and good luck in NASS FACEBOOK PAGE If you have not yet liked North Arm State School s Facebook page (make sure you select the one with the school logo), please remember to do so - it s a convenient and easy way for us to let you know about last minute reminders and updates.
3 P & C News BUNNINGS SAUSAGE SIZZLE Our first ever Bunnings Sausage Sizzle was a massive success on Saturday. I think we raised around $1600, figure to be confirmed later. This is a huge success and represents another aircon unit for a very deserving class. We couldn t have done it without the following amazing volunteers Jason Wilkie, Jodie Black, Mim Beasley, Jolene Olsen, Leonie Gilbertson, Sarah Suell, Kerri Contini, Nellie Noodle, Gerard Kelly, Carmel Gibson and Laura Coster. Special thanks also to Yandina IGA who very, very generously donated all the sausages, onions, bread and sauces. They have been such a great support to our P and C this year and we sincerely thank them. ADOPT A FAMILY APPEAL We are very proud to announce that the school is going to take part in this project in conjunction with the Salvation Army. Instead of supporting one family we hope to collect enough donations to support many families in need. There will be a collection box in each classroom. We ask that all food be non perishable, all gifts unwrapped and no second hand items, please. Donations must be received at school by 7th December so the hampers can be ready and delivered in time for Christmas. Gift ideas: Non Perishable food Clothes Swimwear Towels, both beach and bath. Toys Puzzles Outdoor toys The list is endless. Happy shopping and thanks for joining us in supporting this very worthy cause. CHRISTMAS CONCERT The P & C will be providing food at the North Arm Christmas Concert. We will be serving from two food stations this year. FROM IN FRONT OF THE HALL BBQ Sausage Sizzle Chips Muffins & Slices Drinks & Poppers FROM THE TUCKSHOP Mexican Bean Burrito Bowls Thai Green Vegetable Curry over steamed Rice Drinks & Poppers Looking forward to seeing you all there!!! Thanks Rochelle P & C - ASC NEWS From January 2019 After School Care will have a change in bank details. This means the Commonwealth Bank account currently being used for direct deposits won't be available. All outstanding fees for this year should still be deposited and we will advise you of the new bank account details in Term Please finalise all outstanding accounts as soon as possible for processing.
