3 **Important Registration Policies and Procedures are available on our website at Registration Dates for Youth Recreation Activities: Summer Registration: April 1st thru April 30th Tournament Date/Time: May 8:30 AM Registration Deadline: May 8:00 AM Location: Turner Middle School Outdoor Courts Ages Groups: 12U 14U 17U 18&Over Divisions: Boys & Girls Early Bird Fee: $25/team registered by May 17 Late Registration Fee: $35/team registered between May 18 - May 20 Details: The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department is proud to present a summer 3v3 basketball tournament for all boys and girls ages 12 and older. The tournament is a straight double elimination tournament played at the outdoor basketball courts at Turner Middle School. There are boys and girls divisions with the age groups being 12U, 14U, 17U & 18 and Up. Winning teams in each age and division will receive a prize. Teams must have at least 3 players and no more than 5 players. Registration Deadline: May 8th Team Fee: $450 per team. Ages: 16 & Over Manager s Meeting: May 6 PM at Berthoud Town Hall Game Nights/Time: Sunday Evenings starting at 4 PM Games Start: May Bein Park Softball Fields (*Subject to change) Details: The Co-ed Softball league consists of an eight game regular season followed by an end of the year double elimination tournament. All games will take place on Sunday s at the Bein Park Baseball Fields. Team rosters must have at least 9 players on them and a maximum of 20 players. There must be an equal number of men and women on the team **Volunteer Coaches needed for all sports. Call Wes or Mackenzie at ** $5 late fee will be applied starting May 1st! Limited scholarships are available for children of qualifying low income families from the Berthoud office of House of Neighborly Service. For details please call The following Parks and Recreation Policies and Procedures are implemented to help the Parks and Recreation staff formulate a well-organized, fair and fun recreational environment for all to enjoy. 1. Registration will be open to the public for a one month period. 2. Documentation for proof of age and grade level may be requested at any time. 3. Deadlines will be strictly enforced to ensure management efficiency, safety and quality of programs. 4. No team registrations! Parks and Recreation only accepts individual registrations on a first come first serve basis. 5. There will be NO Team, Friend or League Requests allowed. 6. If there are not enough numbers for certain age groups or grade levels, the recreation department may choose to combine age groups or grade levels. 7. The Recreation Department cannot guarantee a program will run until registration has ended and participant levels have been determined. 8. After the registration deadline, late registrations will be taken only if there are spots available. If the program is full, a wait list will be started. 9. After the monthly registration period ends, a $5 late fee will be added to all late registrations. 10. Before the activity season starts, all players are encouraged to attend a player evaluation, in which the players participate in a series of drills to determine skill level to evenly distribute onto teams. 11. A coaches meeting will be held after selection night for: team rosters, practice schedules and game rules. 12. Participants must play in their age/grade level, we do not allow participants to play up. (Unless if low registration numbers refer to policy # 6) 13. Coach s kids will automatically be put on their team along with one assistant coach s kid. A. Each coach is allowed one assistant coach. 14. Any late registrations after evaluation day or any participant who does not show up to evaluation day will be placed on teams in a random order. 15. Only Parks and Recreation Department Staff have authority to switch or move players from teams. Coaches do not have the authority to switch a player to a different team, regardless of the reason to do so. 16. Coaches are volunteers and have no authority to guarantee roster positions on team, certain practice days and times or take registration. 17. After teams are selected, coaches will call players to let them know of their team and practice time. 18. Cancelled games due to weather are not guaranteed to be rescheduled. Parks and Recreation will attempt to reschedule games; however this is not a guarantee. 19. All coaches must get a background check & concussion training done before coaching. It is designed for 4 year olds to learn the very basic fundamentals and skills of baseball and softball in a fun, active environment. Kids will learn how to catch, throw, hit, field and run the bases. Equipment players will need to bring is a glove and rubber soled cleats or tennis shoes; all other equipment will be provided by the Parks and Recreation Department. Players can bring their own bats if they choose to. Baseball pants and a hat are recommended but not required and participants will receive a T-shirt. Parent participation is highly encouraged. Ages: 5-6 year olds Limited Space Available. Register Today!!! It is a 4 week program consisting of practices and games throughout the season. You can sign up for either the 9:00 AM or 10:15 AM session and the days it is ran is Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Along with practices and games, the kids will enjoy fun activities like Slip/Slide Day and Big League Day. Equipment players will need to bring is a glove and rubber soled cleats or tennis shoes. Players can bring their own bats if they choose to. Baseball pants and a hat are recommended but not required. The time slot you choose will be your designated time slot throughout the entire season. Interested participants can register online by visiting the Challenger Camp Sessions: Session 1: July Session 2: July 31-August 4 Registration Deadline: Session 1: July 10 Session 2: July 24 Ages: 4-12 Location: Bein & Town Park Time: 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM Session Fee: $75 ($65/session if sign up for both sessions & must signup in office to get rate) Details: The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department will host a multi-sport camp during two weeks this summer. The camp will emphasize the basic fundamentals of certain sports in a fun, safe environment. Kids will go through numerous drills and play games with skilled instructors. The camp will be a 3 hour camp for one week long. Sports included will be Baseball/Softball, Soccer, Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Kickball, Whiffle Ball, Basketball, Volleyball, Capture the Flag, and Obstacle Course. The max participants for each session is 40. The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Northern Colorado is the only LPGA program in Northern Colorado. The program is for girls of all skill levels ages Sign ups start in April and the program runs two days a week from June and July. Program Details: The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department, Windsor Parks and Recreation Department and Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation Department have teamed up to form a youth baseball league. The recreational baseball league provides a fun, instructional environment for kids ages 7 to 12 years of age. All practices will be during the week and games will be played during the weeknights in Berthoud, Johnstown or Windsor. Berthoud Recreation will provide all equipment except for baseball cleats, pants and gloves. In order to ensure equal team competition, all players registered need to participate in selection day. After selection day is held, your coach will call you with days and times of your practices that are selected by the coach. Registration Deadline: June 5th Camp Dates: June 19th - June 21st (Mon/Tues/Wed) Ages: Boys & Girls ages 8-18 Camp Times: Participants ages 8-13 will be 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM Participants ages will be 11 AM - 2 PM Location: Turner Middle School Cost: $50 for participants ages 8-13; $70 for participants ages Details: The Berthoud Parks and Recreation is proud to be teaming up with Midwest Volleyball Performance to offer a high quality, low cost three day volleyball camp. Midwest Volleyball Performance is a group of current and former professional volleyball players who will cover basic volleyball skills through numerous individual and team drills. Campers ages 8-13 will go from 8:30 AM-10:30 AM and campers ages will go from 11 AM-2PM. Registration Deadline: June 10, 9:30 AM Who: Boys & Girls ages 6-13 When: June 10 Time: 10:00 AM (Registration will end at 9:30 AM) Where: Bein Baseball Complex Details: The Rockies Skills Challenge is a FREE event for all boys and girls ages 6-13 that tests participants skills in base-running, hitting and throwing. Participants will practice twice a week and play matches on Friday. Matches will be played around the Northern Colorado area. Participants will need to provide their own tennis racket. Cost: Residents $85 Non Residents $95 A $5 late fee will be charged starting on May 1st (Space Limited register early! Join our waitlist if team becomes full) Season: June 5th - July 28th ( 4 meets scheduled for the summer) Swim Practice: Mon/Wed/Fr i Practice Times: 7:15am - 9:15am (swimmers divided into practice A or B based on age, experience, and ability) Requirement: ALL FIRST YEAR PARTICIPANTS MUST PASS A SWIM TEST BEFORE STARTING PRACTICES. MUST REGISTER FOR THE TEAM BEFORE TAKING SWIM TEST. To participate, swimmers must be able to complete front crawl stroke and backstroke for 25 yards each without stopping. Program Details: Ber thoud Swim Team par ticipates in the CARA swim pr ogr am. The program introduces young swimmers to competitive swimming. Emphasis is placed on FUN, DEVELOPMENT, AND SPORTSMANSHIP. Ribbons are given to each child finishing their respective events at meets. Team workouts are structured to the swimmer s conditioning level. Optional team swimsuits available for purchase.
