1 SUMMER GUIDE 2018 Welcome to In Motion Fitness. There s a reason we are voted Best Club every year, and a big part of that is our pools! We will not hide the fact that our pools are busy, but there is plenty of time and space for everyone. We have highlighted some areas that we feel will help you with the proper utilization of your club, and more importantly, your pool areas. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the front desk or any manager, and thank you for choosing In Motion Fitness.

2 YOUR POOLS AT IN MOTION We are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen, so please act accordingly. SAFETY IS TOP PRIORITY. If you witness any misbehavior, please contact the Lifeguard, Front Desk or Management immediately. An emergency phone is located on the wall near the Spas. Lifeguards and In Motion Fitness Staff have full authority over their members and guests using IMF s pool area and may enforce rules not listed if a situation warrants such action. Management reserves the right to deny use of pools and spas to anyone, at anytime. Important Pool Rules: Yes, like all pools, there are a million rules dealing with your health and safety. Please be sure to read all the rules that are posted in the pool area. Listed below are some of the most important (and unfortunately, the most frequently abused) rules to adhere to. The Lap Pool is for lap swimming only. Lap swimmers must be 14 yrs. or older, unless you have completed our Swim Fit program (see flyer for details, restricted times apply) All swimmers must shower before entering any of the pools. All persons on the pool deck and/or swimming in the pool must have on proper swim attire. The use of pull buoys or kickboards are prohibited in all pools (except the lap pool). No dangerous horseplay in the pools. All Pools/Spas close at 10pm sharp! The City of Chico Ordinance mandates that all members must vacate the pools, spas and outside area by 10pm. No running anywhere... No diving in the pools or spas. No glass containers, gum, alcohol, food (in pools), smoking, chewing tobacco, spitting, foul language, or inappropriate behavior. Sorry, NO arm flotation devices (water wings) or other PFD (personal flotation device) or float toys allowed. Coast Guard approved life jackets and puddle jumpers are allowed. Acceptable swim attire must be worn by members and their guests on the deck and in the water. Clean cotton t-shirts and sarongs are allowed on the pool deck, however patrons must have on proper swim attire underneath. The following attire is not allowed at In Motion Fitness Pools: Street clothes, Brazil/French-cut, thong style and/or revealing swim wear, cut-off jeans, jeans, skirts, shorts, sport bras, leotards, leggings, dri-fit wear, compression shorts and compression shirts are prohibited. Underwear and undergarments are not allowed to be worn under swimsuits. 2

3 CHILDREN SWIM POLICIES All infants/toddlers that require a diaper must wear swimmer diapers and proper swimwear. Under 7 years: A parent or guardian over 18yrs in a swim suit must be in attendance with all children under 7 years of age, at all times, whether the child is in the water, on the deck or in the restroom. When a child is in the water, the parent or guardian must remain within reach of the child. 7 to 14: Children may be left unsupervised only if a lifeguard is on duty. Parents must remain on IMF property and are responsible for their child(ren) s behavior. Any child misbehaving will be required to exit the facility. A second offense will result in a suspension a third offense is grounds for IMF to terminate one s membership. LAP POOL The Lap Pool is for lap swimming only. Lap swimmers must be 14 yrs. or older, unless you have completed our Swim Fit program (see flyer for details, restricted times apply) No recreational swimming permitted in the Lap Pool. Lap swimmers are not allowed to swim under, sit on, or climb over lane lines. Lap lanes are available on a first come, first serve basis. SWIMFIT SwimFit Youth Lap Pool Certification (for kids ages 8 through 13) Each child signs up at the front desk for a 30 minute orientation. $5 fee due upon completion. Free refresher course during May. Regular Scheduled Orientations (beginning May 16th). Wednesdays 6:00pm, Saturdays 1:30pm. Orientation includes: Certification info., review of pool rules and a 50 yard swim test. Hours for SwimFit swimmers: Monday-Friday: 1pm to 3:30pm, 8pm to 10pm. Weekends: 12:30pm 7:30pm. 4 SPA ETIQUETTE Spa #1 (closest to the locker rooms) is for members 14 years of age or older. Persons with heart disease or pregnant women should not use this spa. Spas are for quiet time and relaxation. Neither horseplay nor toys are allowed in the spas. POOL SCHEDULES AND BEST TIMES TO SWIM Our pools are busy with swim lessons, aquatic classes, the AquaJet swim team, the Masters, Senior walking and more. It s important to know the best times for you and your family to utilize our pools. It s best to review our pool schedules (available on line or at the club) or check out the condensed versions and schedules included: LAP POOL Please see attached schedule (Pages 6 & 7). Lap pool is for Lap Swimming Only. Lap swimmers must be 14 years or older,, unless you have completed our Swim Fit program (see flyer for details, restricted times apply). No Recreational swimming allowed in the Lap Pool. LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY Mon - Sun 12:30pm to 7:30pm (Excluding Holidays) LAP SWIMMING ETIQUETTE If a lane is open, you may jump into that lane. When all the lanes have at least one swimmer, select the lane with the person swimming approximately your speed. Notify swimmer before jumping into that lane that you would like to share the lane. With two (2) swimmers in one lane, the swimmers may opt to keep to one side or circle swim (swim counterclockwise). Keep to the right at all times when circle swimming. With two or more swimmers per lane, it is recommended to circle swim. If a swimmer behind you looks as though she or he may overtake you on the next lap, stop and wait at the wall for the swimmer to pass you. The lap pool is for lap swimming. It is not a pool to play in. Lap swimmers must be 14 years or older. 4

5 TOWELS FOR THE POOL AREA We limit one (1) towel per person and to be honest, these are not the best towels for the pool area (we recommend your big, soft beach towel that you bring from home!). If not, you are welcome to our towels provided for free at the front desk. BRINGING YOUR GUESTS TO IN MOTION FITNESS You are more than welcome to bring guests to your club. Your discounted rate is as follows: Members Non-Members Adults $15 Adults $30 Seniors $10 Seniors $20 Kids $10 Kids $20 (under the age of 14) All Guests under the age of 18 must have a consent form from their parent(s) AND must be with an adult while at In Motion (sorry, no exceptions to this rule). NEW TO THE CLUB AND WANT TO KNOW HOW TO USE THE EQUIPMENT? We have a very successful FitStart Program designed just for you. For only $15 (more than a $50 value), you receive an orientation to circuit training and cardio equipment within your club. These orientations take about an hour, and you work one-on-one with our certified personal trainers. Once completed, you will leave with an actual program designed for you and newly gained knowledge of the equipment within your new club.
