2 Dublin Green Gator Swim-A-Thon FAQ's What is the Swim-A-Thon? The Dublin Green Gator Swim-A-Thon is the team s primary (and only) organized fundraiser each year. The funds raised will help to support the team s needs covering everything from swimming and training equipment to food, parties and awards. Swimmers earn money by swimming lengths of the pool. Swimmers will have 2 hours to swim a maximum of 200 laps. (That's 2.84 miles in case you were wondering!) Swimmers collect pledges per lap or flat donations from family, friends, neighbors, etc. prior to swimming. When and where is the Swim-A-Thon? The Dublin Green Gator Swim-A-thon will be held Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 at the team pool. We will announce the specific times by age group once we are closer to the event. What will we do at the Swim-A-Thon? Swimmers will swim and eat! We will have refreshments for our all our athletes to enjoy after (and while!) they swim their laps. Parents are encouraged to cheer and volunteer! We will need lap counters, food donations, set-up crews, clean-up crews, etc. Look for volunteer opportunities as we get closer to the event. How do we raise money for Swim-A-Thon? Pledge Forms Start right away, and reach out to everyone you know! Relatives and friends are great for support of your activities. A sample of the pledge form letter for purposes is attached in the back of this packet. Collections Ask everyone you know to sponsor you! You can get pledges per lap, or flat donations. Be sure to include neighbors, classmates, and co-workers of Mom and Dad when asking for donations! Cash, check and electronic forms of payment are accepted (see details on pledge sheet). How can my Swimmer earn Prizes? Each swimmer will have the opportunity to seek donations individually to earn prizes. Individual prizes will be awarded at different levels, starting at $50. The deadline for turning in ALL donations is at our home meet vs DBAC on Sat, July 1 st. Prizes are awarded as follows: o Bronze medal: $50 in donations = Yogurtland gift card o Silver Medal: $100 in donations = Dublin Green Gator baseball or swim cap o Gold Medal: $250 in donations = Dublin Green Gator personalized swim towel o Top money earner: Dublin Gator swim parka or payment of dues for 2018! 2

You can copy these letters and should add your own personal touch. Remember that after you send a letter it s a great idea to follow up with a phone call to make sure they received it and tell them more about the Swim-A-Thon and the Gators. Good Luck! Each day in the summer I train with my swim team, the Dublin Green Gators. I work hard to learn all four competitive strokes from my coaches. On Thursday, June 22, I will be participating in my team s fundraiser, the swim-a-thon, raising money by swimming as much as I can for two hours or a maximum of 200 laps (which is almost 3 miles or 50 football fields!).
