2 Dear participants and guests of the Schools World Championship! On behalf of the organizers of the event in Poznan, i.e. the Polish School Sports Association, the City of Poznan, the Wielkopolska Provincial Government, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the "Termy Maltańskie" sports and recreation complex in Poznan, I would like to thank you warmly for coming to Poland and participating in this year's championship. I hope that you have experienced some exciting moments during your stay, have achieved great success and that the impressions of us you take away with you will be positive and long remembered. I wish that young people from around the world could meet up as often as possible, and through competitive sports be united in good fun enjoyed together. Proof that this is possible was yesterday's "Evening of friendship", which confirmed that for young people, boundaries do not exist and that they are able to integrate with each other despite differences in language and culture. At the same time I would like to apologise for any inconveniences that you may have experienced in the five days of the Championship. We have done everything possible to make you feel at home but, as the saying goes, he who does nothing makes no mistakes. Preparing such a large event with the participation of approximately 400 people from 17 countries, beside the organization of the sporting events themselves, is a great challenge in terms of logistics, transportation, catering and accommodation. We hope you have been satisfied with the conditions of your stay and the attractions we prepared for you, and will remember us warmly. I wish you all a safe and happy return to your families and homes in your respective homelands, and I hope we will meet again sometime at some other sports event, not necessarily swimming. Feel free to visit Poland as often as possible, and in particular Poznan the capital of the Wielkopolska Province. You will remain forever in our memories as fine young people and charming guests. The organizers of the 2015 ISF World Schools Swimming Championship would like to thank all the Volunteers that helped make this year's event in Poznan a great success. Your selfless help was for us, and especially the foreign teams - priceless! Your care for the participants and guests of the Championship made their stay in Poland and Poznan easier and more enjoyable. 3 DRAGON BOATS RACE The morning's main attraction on the 5th day of the Championship in Poznan was a Friendship Relay Race in dragon boats. This was held in sunny but windy weather on the "Malta" regatta causeway. Each dragon boat held 10 participants (guests) of the Poznan Championship and 1 drummer sitting in as the coxswains in each of the 4 boats were professionals from Poznan's "Stomil" sports club. In accordance with Friendship Relay tradition, the composition of the teams was decided by the drawing of lots and so it happened that we saw people from 12 different countries manning a boat together! The dragon boats covered the course altogether some 29 times and more than 300 participants in the 2015 ISF World Schools Swimming Championship rowed across the lake. An unexpected additional "highlight" of the relay was the capsizing of one of the boats - fortunately, thanks to the rapid intervention of 4 motorboats with lifeguards on hand to ensure the safety of the regatta, all members of this upset were quickly pulled from the water and transported to shore. So, as it turned out, it was well worth bringing a spare set of dry clothes... 3
