3 Zodiac s New Learn to Swim Program Endorsed by the Lifesaving Society We are very excited to announce Zodiac s new Learn to Swim Program that is endorsed by the Lifesaving Society. This program includes learn to swim progressions, fitness, water safety as well as first aid. We believe this program will set the stage for your swimmer to learn about and enjoy swimming for life. Although the program has been modified and enhanced, our high-quality low-ratio lessons, top-notch swim instruction and excellent customer service remain unchanged. The Zodiac Learn to Swim consists of 12 levels. Levels 1, 2, and 3 are organized based on the child s age and thus the student to teacher ratio will be different: Zodiac Preschool Levels 1, 2, 3 (2:1 student: teacher ratio) are for students between the ages of years old Zodiac Swim Levels 1, 2, 3 (3:1 student: teacher ratio) are for students 4.5 years old +. Some other changes include: 1. The Zodiac Tot Program is now broken up into three age groups; Zodiac Baby Tot (for swimmers 3 to 12 months), Zodiac Tweener Tot (for swimmers 12 to 24 months), and Zodiac Senior Tot (for swimmers 2 to 3.5 years old); 2. Elimination of Repeat levels, as we have created Stroke Levels; 3. The Stroke Levels do not have any water safety components, swimmers will be focusing on stroke technique and fitness items; and 4. The Tadpole class has been renamed Mini Private. On the following pages, you will find a conversion chart, which will clearly indicate which Zodiac Swim Level your child will be in (based on his/her most recent level under the previous system). There will also be descriptions of the new levels as well as the days, times and fees of the classes organized by level and then location. If you have questions or require any additional information, please feel free to contact us either by (info@zodiacswim.on.ca) or phone ext 151. 11 Mini Private Swim Lesson (for 2 years old +) 1:1 Ratio, 15 minute class Pre-requisite: Minimum 2 years of age. Prior participation in Zodiac Tot is highly recommended, if the child is between the ages of 2 and 3 years old. If the child is not toilet trained, the child must wear a reusable water diaper. These are available for purchase at the pool. Our Mini Private Lesson is a 15-minute, one-to-one (private) lesson that can be used one of two ways: 1) The first way is a wonderful transitional class from Parent and Tot to group lessons without a caregiver. Toddlers who have been introduced to the aquatic environment through Zodiac Tot's program and who are ready to be independent of his/her caregiver, are able to continue developing skills, building trust with his/her instructor in preparation for group lessons. Swimmers will work on Zodiac Preschool 1 (and higher) standards in the class and receive a Zodiac Progress card at the end of the session. 2) The second way the Mini Private can be used is as a way to extend the student s regular weekly lesson by 15 minutes either before or after the lesson. The 15-minutes allows the student to focus on one skill or stroke to assist overcoming a challenge. If the schedule allows, you could book the mini private from the beginning as before or after extension. An alternative is to book the 15-minute mini private randomly without a set number to again focus on a specific skill, stroke or challenge. If is it mid-session, and you would like to add a few Mini-Private Lessons please call/ the Zodiac office to check availability. SUMMER
