3 American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification 15 yrs and older Teaches the duties and responsibilities of lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies and procedures to carry them out in a professional manner. Certifi es participant as an American Red Cross Lifeguard, includes certifi cations in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Automated External Defi brillation. Prerequisites: Must swim 300 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order: 100 yards/front crawl; 100 yards/breaststroke; and 100 yards, either front crawl or breaststroke or a combination. All 300 yards must use rhythmic breathing with your face in the water and a stabilizing, propellant kick. Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a minimum depth of seven feet, retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to surface, and swim back to starting point with the object within one minute and 40 seconds. When returning to the starting point, you must hold the 10 lb. object with both hands and keep your face above water. Notes: Must attend all four classes in a given session for certifi cation. No refunds on cancellations made less than seven (7) days prior to the start of class. Participants who do not pass the prerequisite will receive a refund minus a fee of $25. The J Splash Academy is an all-encompassing, learn-to-swim program, designed to create confi dent, strong, lifelong swimmers of all ages, starting at six months. Instructors are trained to offer compassion-based instruction, positive reinforcement and encouragement each step of the way. There are three broad areas of J Splash Academy: 1. Introduction to Water & Water Safety Skills 2. Basic Swimming Skills 3. Competitive Swimming Techniques As children progress, they will swim their way through fun development tiers: Splash Babies, Starfi sh, Pufferfi sh, Lionfi sh, Angelfi sh, Stingrays and Hammerheads (see next page). The program provides more opportunity for skill/level progression, regular feedback and accomplishment awards as swimmers progress through fi shy levels. This class will have your child moving nonstop, guaranteeing an awesome workout. While using strength swimming, this program will focus on dance, ballet, lifts, and techniques of synchronized swimming. Jr. Jaws Swim Club 4-10 yrs Be a part of this exciting swim team transition program for swimmers who have graduated J Splash Academy and are interested in the J Sharks Swim Team. Swimmers will continue to develop skills through instruction on stroke technique, endurance and sprint drills. They will also be introduced to legal racing techniques including turns, starts and finishes. Splash Babies 6 mos-3yrs Classes introduce basic skills and safety to parents and children, while comforting parents as they teach their infants about putting their face in the water, blowing bubbles and being relaxed in a pool. Parent is required to be in the water with his/her child.
