4 SECTION 1: National Squad Selection Guidelines (HPP & PHPP) This National Squad Selection Guidelines sets out the criteria by which Table Tennis Australia ( TTA ) will select High Performance Program (HPP) & Para High Performance Program (PHPP) athletes. This document comes into effect from 1 January, 2017 and supersedes/replaces any prior selection criteria in respect of such squads. 1. Squad Selection Philosophy 1.1. TTA selects athletes to its squads who it believes have the potential to achieve international success at major benchmark events in the short, medium and longer terms; 2. The National Selection Panel (NSP) 2.1. The TTA Board appoints a National Selection Panel (NSP), who operate in accordance with the National Selection Panel Terms of Reference The NSP use the criteria contained in these National Squad Selection Guidelines to assist in their deliberations The approach taken by the NSPs may vary between squads depending on what is considered to be in the interests of TTA and the Australia s Winning Edge Targets The TTA Board retains complete and absolute discretion when selecting athletes to its Squads. However, the TTA Board will be informed by the NSP when making their decision. 3. General Principles 3.1. It is a condition of selection to and membership of any Squad that the selected athlete sign and abide by TTA s Athlete Agreement TTA will review these National Squad Selection Guidelines annually Selections to the HPP & PHPP squads will normally be announced by direct to eligible athletes by 31 December in the year preceding the year for which the squad is named. However, there is no requirement that the selection be made or announced at that time. TTA will normally review and make selections to squads once per year; this does not however limit the ability of the NSP to request the TTA Board to ratify additions to or removals from the squad as identified below at any time; 3.4. Selections for the HPP & PHPP Squads will be for the period of January to December, unless otherwise specified. Athletes selected to Squads will need to enter into an athlete agreement with TTA for the specified period; 3.5. TTA is under no obligation to select a maximum or minimum number (or any at all) of squad members in each of the athlete categories; 3.6. Athletes within the same category may not necessarily receive the same level of support (for example: future dais schemes may not directly align with the Winning Edge Athlete Categories); 4. Squad Selection Criteria 4.1. be an Australian Permanent Resident or an Australian Citizen; if an Australian citizen, be available to represent Australia in international competition, and be actively training towards the next major benchmark event; Page 4 of 21

5 4.2. Without in any way limiting the discretion of the NSP and TTA Board, the NSP may consider the following (based off the Future Success Indicators table contained in this document): the athlete s current playing level (recent performances and results, WR positions, regularity of participation, etc.); the athlete's training environment (weekly training hours, level of training partners, level of coaching received, etc.); the athlete's physical abilities (athleticism, fitness, hand-eye and other coordinative skills, table tennis talent, etc.); the athlete's attitude and conduct (work ethic, dedication towards success, team spirit, sportsmanship, pride in representing Australia, etc.); the athlete's mental preparedness ( high-achiever mindset, ability to cope with pressure, level of resilience, fighting spirit, tactical awareness, etc.); the athlete s personal environment (commitments at school, university or work; parental or partner support, present and future residential status, etc.); the athlete s future success potential (playing style, prioritisation level of table tennis, progression rate towards world class performances): HPP only stage of playing career; PHPP only numbers of athletes competing in that class worldwide, etc.; PHPP only - the athlete s class characteristics (type of condition, age of athlete, where the athlete is placed within the specific class, physical characteristics relating to the athlete s specific class); 5. Requirements to Maintain Squad Selection 5.1. To be eligible to be nominated for the HPP & PHPP Squads all athletes must: strictly abide by the terms and conditions of the HPP & PHPP Athlete Squad Agreement; comply with all reasonable directions of relevant TTA National Coach, assistant coaches, and manager of the Australian HPP & PHPP Squad and/or Australian Team and TTA High Performance Director in a co-operative manner; be a participant member and agree to recognise and abide by Table Tennis Australia s constitution, selection criteria and policies; agree to an annual individual athlete performance plan designed in consultation with my personal coach, the relevant TTA National Coach/es, TTA Program Sports Science, Sports Medicine (SSSM) Specialists attached to the TTA National HPP & PHPP as well as SIS / SAS SSSM specialists where relevant; agree to work towards the performance and process goals as outlined in the annual individual athlete performance plan; agree to report on the AIS Athlete Monitoring System; agree to abide by the Social Media Guidelines of TTA contained in this document; Page 5 of 21

6 not have breached the TTA Anti-Doping Policy or have had a sanction imposed which has not been completed; abide by TTA s Anti-Doping Regulation including not engaging in any doping practices and to cooperate with sample collection; undertake online Anti-Doping education via the ASADA Anti-Doping e-learning portal for squad members joining the squad for the first time you are expected to complete the Level 1 online Anti- Doping course and provide TTA with a copy of the certificate on completion; for squad members who are remaining in the squad you are expected to complete the annually updated Level 2 online Anti-Doping course and provide TTA with a copy of the certificate on completion; abide by TTA s Match Fixing Policy including not engaging in any match fixing practices; undertake online education via the Australian Government National Integrity of Sport Unit e- learning portal squad members are expected to complete the match fixing online course and provide TTA with a copy of the certificate on completion; maintain a lifestyle conducive to sporting excellence; maintain the high standard of personal behavior expected of an athlete representing Australia; abide by both the rules and the spirit of the game; not bring the game, Table Tennis Australia, the Australian Sports Commission or the reputation of another TTA partner into disrepute; Be currently financially un-incumbent with TTA; attend all training camps and activities designated by TTA as a requirement of Australian HPP & PHPP Squad and/or Australian Team membership except in extraordinary circumstances; inform the relevant TTA National Coach in the event that any injury or illness the athlete has sustained is such that the athlete is unable to physically and/or psychologically attend any TTA designated training camp or activity; if exemption is sought on this ground, the athlete will agree to undergo a medical and/or psychological and/or physiotherapy examination (at the athlete s expense) by an endorsed TTA Medical Practitioner, Sports Psychologist or Physiotherapist prior to the designated training camp or activity; provide in writing to the relevant TTA National Coach a detailed and written description of any physical or psychological needs that the athlete requires to be addressed if that athlete is to attend any TTA designated training camp, activity or international competition and agree that TTA will seek advice from the TTA Program SSSM Specialists relating to the athlete s request who in turn will provide recommendations to the Team Personnel as to how best to meet these needs; agree, if returning from an injury, to be assessed by a TTA endorsed physiotherapist (at TTA s expense) to determine the athlete s fitness and ability to compete in the respective competition for which the athlete is being considered for Australian Team selection; agree that the commercial exploitation of the athlete s name and images taken at events where the athlete represents Australia unconditionally lie with TTA; Participate in promotional activities at TTA events or at events that I am selected for by TTA, such as PR, media or sponsor events or photo shootings; agree to exclusively wear & utilise the TTA National Sponsored uniforms and equipment when selected to represent Australia at all identified international competitions and training camps; If an Page 6 of 21

7 athlete is participating in domestic or international events outside of Australian Team selection he/she is not required under this agreement to wear the Australian uniform. If the athlete chooses to wear the Australian Uniform at these events he/she must wear the complete uniform; The following applies to PHPP only: nominate to TTA s PHPP National Head Coach prior to the event, the name of the athlete s carer in the event that the athlete requires additional assistance at designated TTA training camps, activities and international competitions (with the understanding that any associated costs for a carer is the responsibility of the athlete / carer), noting that it is at the discretion and decision of TTA as to whether the athlete s preferred carer is approved and that TTA will have the final say as to whom will take on the carer s role taking into account the athlete s individual needs. On nomination of the carer, the athlete will provide written evidence of the carer s relevant State / Territory police check or working with children check. For the purpose of the Athlete Squad Agreement the definition of a carer is as follows: A carer is someone who provides assistance with an athlete s activity of daily living where an athlete would otherwise be unable to complete the task independently. At times a carer may also provide assistance while an athlete is training or competing, but this should only be manual assistance such as equipment placement and transfer assistance, this does not extend to athlete coaching ; hold either an International or National classification confirmed or review status, or at a minimum a provisional classification status and in this case, agree to being classified by an appointed Classification Panel at the next attending National or International event and; if an athlete with an intellectual disability, at a minimum be a member of the INAS Masterlist and meet the eligibility status of athletes with intellectual disability and agree to undergo sport specific classification testing by an appointed Classification Panel at the next attending International Para event. 6. Competition Requirements 6.1. Competition: For Para Athletes: have participated at the most recently held Australian National Para Championships; For HP Junior Athletes: have competed in the boys or girls singles event within their age category or an older age category at the most recently held Australian National Junior Championships; have made themselves available for selection, in one of the player s resident State or Territory junior boys or girls team and if selected had represented the State or Territory in one of the junior boys or girl s teams event of the most recently held Australian National Junior Championships; and have made themselves available for selection, in the Presidents team if they had not been selected in one of the players resident State or Territory junior boys or girls team, and if selected had represented the Presidents team in one of the boys or girls teams event of the most recently held Australian National Junior Championships For HP Senior Athletes: have competed in the men s or women s singles event at the most recently held Australian National Championships; and Page 7 of 21

8 have made themselves available for selection, in the player s resident State or Territory men s or women s team and if selected had represented the State or Territory in the men s or women s team event of the most recently held Australian National Teams Championships; 7. Extraordinary Circumstances 7.1. Where the Board considers that extraordinary circumstances exist in relation to any athlete and it is in the best interests of TTA and the Australia s Winning Edge Targets, the Board may determine that an athlete is eligible for selection to a squad despite that athlete s failure to otherwise meet any eligibility requirement In the circumstance of an athlete being unable to meet the requirement to compete in the relevant National Senior or Junior Championships as outlined in Competition Requirements, or attend a program activity, an application for exemption must be submitted in writing to TTA before the commencement of that event or activity for all reasons other than for medical/illness reasons In the case of illness and or other medical reasons an exemption request application, along with a supporting medical certificate, must be submitted to TTA prior to the commencement of the activity or competition. 8. Selection for Teams 8.1. In order to be eligible for selection as a playing member of a National Senior or Junior Team & National Para Team ( the National Senior or Junior Team and the National Para Team ), an athlete ( the athlete ) must satisfy the relevant requirements for eligibility for national HPP & PHPP Squad selection; 8.2. In selecting players to represent Australia in an international tournament ( the international tournament ) other than the Paralympic Games or the Commonwealth Games, the NSPs shall consider only those athletes who are current members of the HPP & PHPP Squad. 9. Appeals 9.1. All appeals concerning the squad selections or non-selections of athletes by TTA will follow the process set out in the TTA Appeals Policy (copy attached to this document and available on the TTA website). 10. Power to Amend This policy can be amended at any time by TTA if the TTA Board is of the opinion that such an amendment is necessary as a result of any change in the ITTF guidelines, to give effect to the policy following discovery of a drafting error or oversight or for any other reason determined to be in the best interests of TTA. TTA shall not be responsible or liable in any way to anyone as a result of any such amendment. Page 8 of 21

10 TTA HPP & PHPP Squads - Athlete Categories and Criteria In addition to the above athlete nomination guidelines, the below table and the additional information on the next page, outlines the different AWE athlete categories & criteria to be considered for selection into each category. Podium Athlete who had a medal performance at a world championship event (or equivalent - eg: Olympic Games or Paralympic Games) in the previous 24 months and is considered capable of a medal at the next world championship (or equivalent) event. Podium Ready Athlete who placed fourth to eighth at the most recent world championship event (or equivalent - eg: Olympic Games or Paralympic Games) and is considered capable of progressing to Podium in the next two years. No additional criteria No additional criteria 3. Commonwealth Gold Athlete who does not fit into the categories above but is considered capable of a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Not Applicable To be considered capable of delivering a gold medal performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games an athlete needs to rank in the top 8 players in the current ITTF World Ranking which are eligible to compete in the event. The athlete also needs to be a current member of the National HP Squad. 4. Podium Potential Athlete who is considered capable of progressing to at least Podium Ready in the next two years. Athlete considered capable of progressing to at least Podium Ready in the next 2-4 years Athlete considered capable of progressing to at least Podium Ready in the next 2-4 years. 5. Developing Athlete who is considered capable of progressing to at least Podium Potential in the next two years. An athlete who has won a class singles medal at an International Para Event in the last 24 months and is considered capable of progressing to at least Podium Potential in the next 2-4 years Individual athlete or member of a team who does not satisfy the criteria for the above categories but is considered capable of a medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. To be considered capable of delivering a medal performance at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, an athlete needs to rank in the top 30 players in the current ITTF World Ranking which are eligible to compete in the event. The athlete also needs to be a current member of the National HP Squad. 6.Emerging Athlete who is considered capable of progressing to at least Developing in the next two years. Individual athlete who has met the national squad selection guidelines and is capable of progressing to at least Developing in the next 2-4 years Individual athlete who has met the national squad selection guidelines and is capable of progressing to at least Developing in the next 2-4 years (Senior) or 2-8 years (Junior). 7. International Athlete who does not satisfy any of the Podium Pathway category criteria but has earned selection for that national senior team or squad preparing for the NSOs benchmark event. No additional criteria Athlete who does not satisfy any of the Podium Pathway category criteria but has earned selection for that national senior or junior team or squad preparing for the NSOs benchmark event. 11 Additional Information: TTA HPP & PHPP Squads - Athlete Categories and Criteria 1. General factors which may also be considered by the National Selection Panels when assessing an athletes capability of progressing from one category to the next will include: a) Performances at past major benchmark events; b) Tracking against the future success indicators; c) Performances in other international competitions. 2. 12 SECTION 2: National Team Selection Criteria (National Senior, Junior, Cadet, Hopes and Para Representation) 1. Introduction 1.1. This National Team Selection Criteria sets out the criteria by which Table Tennis Australia ( TTA ) will select Teams to represent Australia in International Table Tennis Competitions, as sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation ( ITTF ) These National Team Selection Criteria apply only to events where TTA is responsible for entering and sending the Australian Team. Separate Criteria will be developed for events where TTA is not ultimately responsible for the entry and delivery of the Team (for example the Commonwealth Games, the Paralympic Games or the Olympic Games); 1.3. This document comes into effect from 1 January, 2017 and supersedes/replaces any prior selection criteria. 2. Selection Philosophy 2.1. TTA will select athletes to represent Australia in International Table Tennis Competitions, who in their opinion and at their sole discretion believe to have the greatest potential for success at that competition and for future competitions; 3. Eligibility for Selection 3.1. These National Team Selection Criteria apply to both the HPP and PHPP athletes. Athletes must be a member of a recognised TTA Squad in order to be considered for selection; 3.2. Only athletes who are an Australian Citizen and are able to represent Australia in International Table Tennis Competitions (as per the ITTF rules and regulations) will be considered for selection; 4. National Selection Panel ( NSP ) 4.1. The TTA Board will receive recommendations from the NSP when making selection decisions. The NSP will follow the criteria set out in this document, but is given flexibility in the application of their assessment to ensure the Team most likely to achieve success is selected; 4.2. The NSP shall: consider only those players who satisfy the relevant requirements for eligibility for HPP and PHPP Squad as outlined in the National Squad Selection Guidelines, and have entered into an Athlete Agreement with TTA; take into consideration the player s likely degree of success in international competition. 5. Criteria considered by the NSP 5.1. Without in any way limiting the discretion of the NSP and TTA Board, the NSP may consider the following (based off the Future Success Indicators table contained in National Squad Selection Guidelines): the athlete s current playing level (recent performances and results, WR positions, regularity of participation, etc.); Page 12 of 21

All appeals concerning the selection or non-selection of athletes by TTA will follow the process set out in the TTA Appeals Policy (copy attached to this document and available on the TTA website). 7. Power to Amend 7.1. This policy can be amended at any time by TTA if the TTA Board is of the opinion that such an amendment is necessary as a result of any change in the ITTF or Event Organiser s guidelines, to give effect to the policy following discovery of a drafting error or oversight or for any other reason determined to be in the best interests of TTA. Selection Process (Please note that the process may vary for each event; this is only meant as a general guide and not as additional criteria to the National Team Selection Criteria) Athletes must meet their squad obligation as per the Squad Criteria and Athlete Agreement; Regular communication between coaches and athletes will be occurring. Athletes are encouraged to regularly discuss their progress with the coaching staff; At the time of making a selection decision, The TTA NSP will assess all athletes in contention for event selection and their progress against each of the selection criteria. This process will rank athletes and provide a recommendation to the TTA Board for selection; Once selections are confirmed by the TTA Board, all athletes will be notified of selection outcomes; Any athlete who wishes will be given the opportunity to discuss his/her selection or non-selection with their respective National Coach and the areas identified for improvement in line with the selection criteria. 14 SECTION 3: TTA Appeals Policy (Selection of Squads and Teams) 1. Appeals 1.1 Any athlete eligible for selection in an Australian team or Australian squad who is not selected in the team / squad may within 2 normal business days of the team / squad being announced, make a request of the selection panel that they provide the athlete reasons for not being selected. Such a request must be in writing and contain detailed reasons as to why the athlete is enquiring about non-selection and be delivered to the CEO of TTA who will pass the request on to the selection panel. Except where it is impractical to do so the selection panel will provide the athlete with those reasons based on the selection/nomination criteria applicable to the event within 2 normal business days and must provide the CEO with a copy of the same within the same timeframe. 1.2 Any athlete who is dissatisfied with the reasons given in accordance with clause 1 ( the Appellant ) may appeal the decision to the Selection Appeals Tribunal: a) solely on the basis that the selection criteria has not been properly followed; b) exclusively in accordance with the following provisions of this Policy; and c) no other right of appeal (including to any court or tribunal) exists except on the basis of this clause The Selection Appeals Tribunal will consist of: a) a barrister or solicitor who will act as chairperson; b) another person of experience and skills suitable to the functions of the tribunal and c) an athlete who has recently retired from international competition; and be appointed by the TTA CEO as soon as practicable to give effect to this Policy. 1.4 An appeal under this Policy must be made by: a) lodging with the CEO a notice of intention to appeal ( Notice of Intention to Appeal ) which must clearly state how the TTA Squad Selection Regulations or TTA Selection Criteria were not properly followed as stated in clause 1.2 (a) within 2 normal business days of receiving the reasons set out in clause 1; and b) lodging with the CEO a notice of appeal ( Notice of Appeal ) within three (3) normal business days of receiving the reasons set out in clause 1, which notice of appeal must set out the Appellant s arguments in conjunction with clause 1.2 (a) and be accompanied with a $1, lodgement fee to TTA for the costs of the appeal, which sum will be dealt with in accordance with clause 1.12 of this Policy. 15 1.5 The CEO may in his or her absolute discretion extend the time within which an athlete may appeal to the Selection Appeals Tribunal provided any request for an extension is made before the relevant time is due to expire and the CEO has first consulted with the President of TTA (where possible) and is satisfied that there are compelling circumstances to grant the extension. 1.6 The CEO upon receiving the Notice of Intention to Appeal will: a) Send a copy of Appeal Tribunal Process document to the appellant within two (2) normal business days of receiving the Notice of Intention to Appeal to ensure the appellant is fully aware of the scope of the Appeal Tribunal. 1.7 Upon receipt of a Notice of Appeal the CEO will: a) appoint the Selection Appeals Tribunal; b) as soon as practicable set the date, time and place for a hearing of the appeal; and c) advise all particulars in writing to all parties interested in the appeal and in particular, any athlete whose interest may be directly and adversely affected by the decision of the Selection Appeals Tribunal. 1.8 The Selection Appeals Tribunal may: a) vary the date, time or place specified under clause 1.7(b) and upon doing so will immediately provide all parties interested in the appeal notice in writing of any such variation; b) adjourn a hearing on its own motion or following application by a party to the appeal where it is considered by the Selection Appeals Tribunal appropriate to do so; or c) Upon receipt of the selection panel s reasons and the Notice of Appeal decide that the papers show that there is no reasonable prospect of success by the Appellant and determine the appeal without a hearing. 1.9 Subject to an extension of time granted by the CEO under clause 1.5, where an Appellant lodges a notice of intention to appeal but fails to lodge a notice of appeal within the prescribed time the Appellant will be deemed to have abandoned his or her appeal and all rights of appeal are extinguished An appellant must attend and appear before the Selection Appeals Tribunal at the date, time and place fixed for the hearing of the appeal. Unless there are extraordinary circumstances acceptable to the Selection Appeals Tribunal, where an appellant fails to attend before the Selection Appeals Tribunal his or her appeal will be deemed to have been abandoned At a hearing of the appeal: a) the Appellant, a representative of the selection panel and any interested person may present submissions (or any person not legally trained may do so on their behalf); b) proceedings shall be conducted as the Chairperson of the Selection Appeals Tribunal determines with the intent of providing an informal environment and the rules of evidence shall not apply; and Page 15 of 21

16 c) the Selection Appeals Tribunal may act in an inquisitorial manner and will provide written reasons for their decision as soon as is practicable; 1.12 Where the Selection Appeals Tribunal: a) upholds an appeal the $1,500 lodgement fee referred to in clause 1.4(b) will be refunded to the Appellant; or b) dismisses the appeal the Selection Appeals Tribunal may in its absolute discretion determine that none or part of the $1,500 lodgment fee referred to in clause 1.4(b) will be refunded to the Appellant. c) dismisses the appeal the Selection Appeals Tribunal may at its absolute discretion determine that none or part of the legal fees of TTA will be charged to the Appellant If the Selection Appeals Tribunal upholds the appeal the matter must be referred back to the selection panel to reconsider the relevant selection in accordance with the selection criteria, including any direction of the Selection Appeals Tribunal The decision of the Selection Appeals Tribunal is final and no right of further or another appeal or action lies to any court or tribunal whatsoever. 17 TTA Appeal Tribunal Process Document This appendix has been prepared to further explain the purpose of an appeal against non-selection into a squad and or team. As set out in the TTA Appeals Policy, any player can request reasons as to why they have not been selected into a Table Tennis Squad or Team by writing to the CEO and requesting that the National Selection Panel provide the player with reasons as to their non-selection. The National Selection Panel s response will contain the clauses of the selection criteria or nomination criteria which have not been met in a sufficient manner to warrant selection. The National Selection Panel will not provide information about why other players have been selected only the clauses under which the player has not been selected. In accordance with Clause 1.2 of the TTA Appeals Policy any athlete who is dissatisfied with the reasons may then appeal the decision of the National Selection Panel. Please note that as per clause 1.2 the Appeals Tribunal will only rule on the following; Did the National Selection Panel correctly follow the selection criteria The Appeals Tribunal will not rule or review the merits of the decision of the National Selection Panel only whether there is evidence that the National Selection Panel did not follow the selection criteria correctly. Should the Appeals Tribunal uphold the Appeal then it can only refer the matter back to the National Selection Panel to reconsider its original selection. Appeals are a lengthy expensive exercise for all parties involved; please ensure that you fully understand the role of the Appeal Tribunal before lodging your Appeal and Appeal Lodgment fee. 19 1. Composition of National Selection Panels 1.1. The TTA National HP Selection Panel for Senior, Junior and Cadet Selections shall consist of six people: TTA Board Representative with High Performance expertise - Chairperson TTA High Performance Director TTA National Senior Mens Coach TTA National Senior Womens Coach TTA National Junior Boys Coach TTA National Junior Girls Coach 1.2. The TTA National Para HP Selection Panel shall consist of four people: TTA Board Representative with High Performance expertise Chairperson TTA High Performance Director TTA National Para Head Coach TTA National Para Assistant Coach 2. Role of the Chair 2.1. The role of the TTA Board High Performance Expert, as the Chair, is to: Ensure correct processes are adhered to as per the approved Board regulations; Ensure selectors are provided with sufficient training in all relevant processes and regulations; As necessary, convene meetings either face to face, via teleconference or skype or through correspondence to best effectuate the Selection Panel s functions; Ensure selectors have access to detailed results from all relevant events, including overseas results, which may be required by the selectors to carry out their functions; Ensure selection recommendations are provided to the TTA board for ratification. 3. Functions 3.1. The functions of the National HP and Para HP Selection Panels shall be to: Recommend athletes for Australian Squads and Teams to the TTA Board in accordance with the approved selection criteria, or as otherwise instructed by the TTA Board of Directors; Determine the TTA athlete seedings in accordance with the relevant regulation; Determine the TTA Annual Rankings List in accordance with the relevant regulation; Provide, upon reasonable request, reasons for non-selection of an athlete as per the TTA Appeals Policy; Act as the Player of the Year Committee for the relevant age category and Para category, as per the relevant Australian Player of the Year Award Regulation; Perform other duties as requested by the TTA Board from time to time. 4. Powers National Selection Panel Terms of Reference 4.1. The National HP and Para HP Selection Panel have been delegated authority by the TTA Board of Directors to select athletes for Australian squads and teams Any selection of Squads or Teams by the NSP must be ratified by the TTA Board of Directors before they become official. 20 5. Conflict of Interest 5.1. Conflict of interest is defined as a situation where a selector has a personal interest in any athlete under consideration for selection; 5.2. Where a selector has a potential or actual conflict of interest, the selector must immediately notify the chair of selectors; 5.3. Where a disclosure about a potential or actual conflict of interest is made to the chair of selectors, the Chair may: in the case of a potential conflict of interest, authorise the selector to continue involvement in the selection process as long as an actual conflict does not materialise require the selector to cease taking part in the selection process, or authorise the selector to continue involvement in the selection process but not take part in any exercise of discretion with respect to the relevant athlete. 6. Voting 6.1. A quorum of three voting members is required for any selection vote; 6.2. Each selector shall have one vote with a majority of votes needed for selection of an athlete Selectors shall not refrain from voting without giving a reason acceptable to the Chair (for example due to a conflict of interest). 7. Responsibilities 7.1. Selectors have a responsibility to act in a fair, equitable and confidential manner A selector shall not provide advice relating to selection matters to athletes at events that are considered for selection purposes Selectors shall not communicate or announce any team or squad selections to any person other than to the TTA CEO prior to those same selections being ratified by the TTA Board of Directors. Further guidance can be sourced from the Australian Government guidelines on staying safe online Protect yourself - do not use social media to share any of your personal information. Information including your addresses, private addresses, phone numbers, or financial information should be protected. Protect others - do not post or discuss any personal information about others through social media Do not invade the privacy of fans engage with fans, but do not invade their privacy by engaging beyond an acceptable online response Protect reputations - do not make any statement that might bring yourself, Table Tennis Australia (TTA), the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC), Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA), Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) or the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) into disrepute CONTENT CONSIDERATIONS You are legally liable anybody can pursue legal action against you and your postings Be mindful anything you like on Facebook and Instagram, or retweet and favourite on Twitter is an endorsement of the subject matter and is the same as if you posted it yourself Be accurate and informative - do not make any misleading or false statements.
