3 SUMMARY CONTINENTAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER DEBRIEF The period reviewed by this report has been marked by a multitude of activities and manifested by very important consultations that fall within the framework of the agreement signed between ITTF and ATTF with regard to development, and settlements resulting from various discussions between the staff of the ITTF and representatives of the African National Associations during the last World championships in Halmstad, Sweden. During this period, emphasis was placed on the successful completion and culmination of a significant portion of the programs and activities spread across the five regions, to plan those which amiss, and executing those scheduled in the last year, in this case concerning the dispatch of the equipment packages allocated to different African countries in At different scales, it is undeniable to say that the pace of accomplishment of planned activities for this year begins to accelerate, without forgetting the world Table Tennis Day on April 6, 2018 with more than 60 events in 21 African countries that welcomed more than 2000 participants. All these activities precede a third quarter that will be very busy and very ornate. Finally, I would like to thank our partners who have supported us in our activities to the experts and instructors who have devoted their time and skills to the realization of our projects. 4 HIGHLIGHTS During this second quarter, a number of very significant and significant activities were carried out. Maybe one of them was the ITTF Level 2 Coaching Course + Training Camp in Liberia from May 02 nd to 09 th, This activity was conducted in close collaboration with Liberia National Association and the West Africa Region. This cooperation included the participation of a Nigerian coach (Mr. Ajayi Samson Kolawole) and the Rwandese National Technical Director (Mr. Yves Ndizeye), and who was conducted by Mr. Dawlatly (EGY). Mr. Larmie Freeman, Secretary General of the Liberian Federation, also took part in this course. During the preparations, he said: "We are ready and eager to welcome our African brothers for the Coaching Education and we will offer them all the necessary hospitality". Coaches in action during ITTF Level 2 coaching course (Liberia 2018) It's good also to highlight great moments during this second quarter: The first Olympic Solidarity activity for this year was organized in Madagascar and was an ITTF Level 2 + Training Camp as part of a "Technical Training Course for Coaches" from May 01 st to 10 th, 2018 and conducted by Mr. Kaka Lawson (TOG). 5 The organization of an ITTF-PTT Level 1 coaching training course in Mauritania followed directly by a training camp led by Ramzi BH Mabrouk, on April 19-26, This was the first ITTF Development Program that which benefit the Mauritanian Table Tennis Federation since its creation in Chad hosted for the first time an Olympic Solidarity activity. It was an ITTF- PTT Level 1 Coach Education + Training Camp as part of a "Technical Training Course for Coaches" under the direction of Mr. Nicolas Guigon (FRA) from 04 to 14 June Page 5

7 CONTINENTAL DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION Dates April Expert: Ramzi B.H MABROUK (TUN) Budget 6000 US$ Funding: Development Program Coach Education Officials Education Athlete Development Para Table Tennis Males Females Males Females Males Females Males Females Full article Since its creation in 1973, the Mauritanian Table Tennis Federation has been hosting for the very first time a table tennis coaching course on the occasion of the course offered by the ITTF as part of the Development Program and on the principle of the rotation system under the guidance of Tunisian instructor Ramzi BEN HADJ MABROUK. We felt that there was a real enthusiasm on the part of the members of the National Association especially from its President Mr. Mohamed OUELD EL HACEN and the National Technical Director (former good player) Mr. Isselkou OUELD MOHAMED AHMED, the officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, participants, who, it should be noted, are, most of them, also executives and teachers of sports, with a large presence of females. The training took place in a very friendly atmosphere. The trainees were all very serious, very attentive and with a fierce willingness to learn and eager to change the current state of Mauritanian sport in general and Table Tennis particularly. A Table Tennis that lacks a lot of coaches, administrative executives, equipment and popularity. In the wake of the ITTF-PTT level 1 coaching course, a training camp was held for the few local table tennis players and the apprentice coaches, which was an opportunity for them to do a significant part of the practical coaching hours and the 5 hours of supervision. 8 CONTINENTAL DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION Dates: May Expert: Ahmed DAWLATLY (EGY) Budget: 6000 US$ Funding: Development Program Coach Education Officials Education Athlete Development Para Table Tennis Males Females Males Females Males Females Males Females Full article As evoked during the establishment of Africa's new structure and the division of countries in five regions of the continent, this will serve as a pragmatic and effective way to align our efforts and programs with the needs, expectations and requests from countries and regions. The activity hosted by Liberia was the perfect embodiment of the foregoing. The Liberian Table Tennis Association, in close collaboration with the ITTF and the Western Region, organized a Level 2 ITTF Coaching Course under the guidance of Mr. Ahmed DAWLATLY, a highly recommended expert and a regular ITTF instructor. This course was attended not only by Liberian technical staff, but also by one Nigerian coach Mr. Ajayi Samson KOLAWOLE and the Rwandese National Technical Director Mr. Yves NDIZEYE. Also, in the wake of the level 2 course, a training camp for young table tennis players was organized for 03 days giving the opportunity to the young to train under the orders of an instructor with an exceptional experience and to learn a lot from him. Mr. DAWLATLY was very good with the trainees throughout the course and the training camp. He taught them very well and led a perfect training camp that the LNTTA had been waiting for a long time. Interestingly, he accompanied representatives of the Liberian National Association to the Chinese Embassy in Liberia. He pleaded for support and had a fruitful discussion with the Chinese Ambassador in Liberia. Page 8

9 HIGH PERFORMANCE MAURITIUS BEAU BASSIN 2018 ITTF-Africa Hopes Week & Challenge Dates: March Expert: Ahmed Dawlatly (EGY) Budget: 6000 US$ Funding: Development Program Coach Education Officials Education Athlete Development Para Table Tennis Males Females Males Females Males Females Males Females Full article The Mauritius Table Tennis Federation hosted the second edition of the ITTF-Africa Hopes Week & Challenge, the only qualifying event on the African continent for the 2018 ITTF-World Hopes Week & Challenge scheduled in Alicante, Spain from July 30th to August 07th, The training camp was led by ITTF expert Mr. Joze URH, an internationally renowned coach, who was assisted by Mr. Cédric ROULEAU (FRA) as Africa expert, who also officiates as Technical National Director of Mauritius. This Hopes Week recorded the participation of Mauritius, host country, with 02 coaches and 06 players (03 males and 03 females), Egypt with a coach and 04 table tennis players (02 males and 02 females), Algeria with 02 coaches and 04 table tennis players (02 males and 02 females), as well as the Democratic Congo with 02 coaches and 04 table tennis players (02 males and 02 females). The training sessions were held in the sports complex of Beau Bassin, in a specific hall for Table Tennis with more than 20 tables. Before each session, the expert debriefed all the coaches present giving them the general purpose of the sessions and the methods of accomplishment. The coaches were very attentive and the players very applied throughout the week. On the Challenge, the 18 players (09 boys and 09 girls) faced each other to have the 04 qualifiers from Africa to join the "2018 ITTF World Hopes Week and Challenge" and who are: Boys: OMAR Ehab (EGY) & RYAN Sahajasein (MRI) Girls: GODA Hana (EGY) & FARHI Asma Lina (ALG) Page 9

10 OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY EDUCATION Dates: May Expert: Kaka LAWSON (TOG) Budget: $ Funding: Olympic Solidarity Coach Education Officials Education Athlete Development Para Table Tennis Males Females Males Females Males Females Males Females Full article The Malagasy Table Tennis Federation, in collaboration with its National Olympic Committee, hosted an ITTF level 2 coaching course, nearly two years after the "Development National Sports Structure" program also funded by Olympic Solidarity and two courses ITTF-PTT level 1. This activity is part of the continuity of the federal strategy to support Malagasy coaches. The expert who ensured this mission is Mr. Kaka LAWSON, the instructor who trained the same group of coaches. The course took place in very good conditions. Mr. LAWSON was very satisfied with the technical level of the coaches who took the first steps to learn, and to pass the evaluations so that they could continue in the ITTF program. A 03-day training camp for young players between 07 and 14 was organized just after the end of the coaching education, in a province not far from the capital, where there were around 40 table tennis players very motivated and with a good general level, most of them being young girls. 11 OLYMPIC SOLIDARITY EDUCATION Dates: June Expert: Nicolas GUIGON (FRA) Budget: $ Funding: Olympic Solidarity Coach Education Officials Education Athlete Development Para Table Tennis Males Females Males Females Males Females Males Females Full article In a new dynamic of sport restructuring in Chad, the Chadian Table Tennis Federation has organized, in collaboration with the Chadian Olympic and Sports Committee, an ITTF-PTT level 1 coaching course for coaches and a training camp for young table tennis players aged between 11 and 17 years under the direction of the ITTF expert Mr. Nicolas GUIGON. These activities are funded by Olympic Solidarity as part of the programs. Twenty coaches took part in the various training sessions held at the National Institute of Youth and Sports. Despite the intense heat and fasting of the month of Ramadan for many Muslim trainees, the participants were serious, motivated, and willing to learn. Thirteen new technical staff, including six women, have reached the required level and should spend 30 hours of practical supervision, including 05 under supervision, to obtain ITTF certification. A three-day training camp began just after the completion of the coaching education. In total, 12 players participated. We would like to acknowledge the very generous and beneficial contribution of the association "Ping Sans Frontières" which donated Table Tennis equipment to encourage trainees, clubs and their regions. 12 EQUIPMENT ASSISTANCE EQUIPMENT PACKAGES At the end of this quarter, we have finalized the distribution of equipment allocated by the ITTF to the African countries selected for the year 2017 on the principle of the rotation system. After selecting the 10 countries for the year 2018, we hope to proceed with the allocation of donations at the beginning of the second half of this year. 13 SPECIFIC PROJECTS WORLD TABLE TENNIS DAY On April 6th, the international community celebrated the 2018 World Table Tennis Day. The main motto of all those celebrations was that: the Table Tennis is undoubtedly popular, universal & inclusive. This is so true. 525 events was organized with great zeal and enthusiasm in 96 countries to making it a true sport for everyone, everywhere! Simply, FOR ALL. It is often the most awaited event not only for the ITTF and National Associations, but also for the every member of the Table Tennis family across the globe. The exponential growth of festivities in Africa has been remarkable. There were 60 events in 21 countries which catered for over than 2000 participants, made possible by the selfless efforts many sympathetic and committed volunteers and partisans of NAs, regions and league. I pay a tribute to our African brothers and sisters who placed very considerable pressure on the few resources they have to celebrate this day so dear to our hearts, and during which we made our activity known to everyone, without distinction as to race or ethnic origin, beliefs, sex, sexual orientation and age, to promote table tennis all over the world but especially in Africa.
