Schedule: 9U & 10U Sundays 3:45pm 5:00pm 12U, 14U & 18U Sundays 5:00pm 6:15pm 7 Weeks Practice schedule: 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 11/02, 11/09, 11/16 & 11/23 (NO PRACTICE ON 10/26) Fee per practice - Members $ and Guest $ (NO drop in available for practices) *We need a minimum amount of registered players for each practice level to run this class. Your child will need to have a current USTA junior membership. Then you ll need to roster for the team (through the USTA) each season that your child will play. See links below. Team practices at TCSP are an additional registration and can be found on our website or by calling the front desk. 2 T C S P Junior Team Tennis (JTT) It s time to register for the Fall JTT Season! (10/10/ /07/2014). *Your child will need to have a current membership with the USTA before rostering on our team. Below you ll find a link to register on the USTA website: 1 st step: (Need to have a usta number before you can roster on a team) First time registering with USTA (Link to register with USTA for membership number): 2 nd step: Rostering Link: Team Numbers: 9 & Under (Red Ball league) foot red ball courts 10 & Under (Orange Ball League) foot orange ball courts 12 & Under Intermediate A Varsity clinic players/challenger tournament level 12 & Under Intermediate B Beginners/Rookie tournament level Green Dot 14 & Under Intermediate Challenger/Rookie tournament level 18 & Under Intermediate Roster Fees (Paid to the USTA): 9u $ u, 12u & 14u $ team matches per team 3 home and 3 away. Schedule is general posted by the USTA 2 weeks prior to first match of each season. *TSCP team practices are an additional fee Practice registration is done by TCSP.

3 Team Managers Responsibilities 10 and Under A Parent/Coach team manager is required for each USTA Junior Team Tennis 10 and Under team. As Club pros are usually in high demand at their facility, the league strongly recommends that each team have the aforementioned adult leadership. Recruit Players: Work with the pros and instructors at your facility to recruit and register players for your team. Teams should carry 6-9 players on their roster in the event some players are not available for a match. Boys and girls may play on the same team. Who Schedules Matches? Schedules will be made by the League Coordinator. Each team will play a maximum of 6 matches. If a match needs to be rescheduled, the opposing parent manager, home facility, and League Coordinator all need to be notified and agree to the reschedule date. How Do I Find the Schedule? Obtain the match schedule for your team via TennisLink. The schedule will be posted on TennisLink. See attached How to View Schedule instruction sheet. This information can be passed along to player parents as well. Check on Player Availability: At the beginning of the season, check player availability for all matches and plan a lineup for the entire season. Planning up front will allow all players to have a more equitable amount of match play and coaches will know if they can field a complete team for all matches. This will also help make sure a team does not have any defaults. The USTA/PNW suggests only scheduling 5 players per match so that players receive the maximum amount of playing time and are not sitting around waiting to play. Five Players Per Match: You will need 5 players for each match. With a team of 5 players, this helps maximize the amount of time your players will play and insures the players are not sitting around waiting to play. Additional players can be fit in but then some players will only play once (instead of twice) Parents/Volunteers Needed: Actively recruit parents to help at each match. They are not there to call the ball in or out but this age group often needs to basic assistance at times. Set-Up for a Match: At least 10 minutes before each match, both kids and parents can help setup the courts. Match Format: Start with two doubles and one singles match. Then repeat with two more doubles matches and one more singles match (for a total of four doubles and two singles matches). There are no gender restrictions for 10 and Under (any combination for boys and girls can play with or against each other). Ideally, teammates should split up after the first round of

4 matches and play with a different partner or play singles, though this is not required. Record scores after each match on the score sheet. Continue to have kids play matches until the reserved court time expires. However, only the first six matches will be recorded. Exchange Line-Ups: Prior to the match, exchange line-up cards with the opposing team manager. The goal is to have match play that is as even as possible. Work with the opposing coach to have evenly matched players play each other. Remember, the 10 and Under League is all about playing, having fun, and gaining experience, (i.e. it is not all about winning). Once the line-up is made, introduce the players. What is the Scoring Format?: Scoring will be two out of three no-ad short sets (a short set plays to 4 games (win by 1 okay)). If players split sets, play a 7 point tiebreaker for the third set. Kids may need help managing their score. Remember, parent managers are there to create a fun experience for the kids, so please be patient. If there is a player who can t remember to call the score, SMILE and say Call the score. Players should change sides every odd game. Starting a Point: Overhand, out of the hand and drop hit are all legal serve. Always Shake Hands: At the conclusion of the match, have players to shake hands with the other team. Smile and Have Fun!: Always remember to SMILE and have fun with all the kids from all of the teams. USTA Jr. Team Tennis owes its existence to the volunteer parents and coaches who manage the teams. Play, play, play: If the match is over and extra court time remains, players and parents are encouraged to continue playing. Parents may lead games or on-court activities or kids can continue to play on their own. One suggestion is to mix-up teams and have one player play with a player from the other team. Be a Good Sport: Strongly encourage your players and parents to keep a positive sportsmanlike atmosphere on and off the court at all times. Keep the energy positive. Praise effort over winning.

5 12U, 14U and 18U Team Information Team Coach/Manager Responsibilities Coach/managers are required for each USTA Jr. Team Tennis team. The league requires that each team be assigned a parent or adult to act as team manager and assume the duties outlined below. 1) Attend conf. call for Coach/Managers to be held March 10 th at 7:00pm all age levels (10U will have additional discussion at 7:30pm) 2) Register as a coach/manager with the league coordinator Travis Roach twiz97@hotmail.com. You will need to provide: name, address, phone, address, DOB and USTA # (if you have one). is our primary means of communication with all team managers. a. If this is your first time as parent manager coach, you will need to complete online background check. Also online safety video is now a requirement to complete as new first step in process. See separate handouts from league coordinator on this process. 3) Each team will be assigned a team number. Provide your juniors the team number. Assist them in registering online with Tennislink. Provide the attached How to Register instruction sheet to players as an aid. Coach/Managers please follow up with families until the minimum requirement of 3 boys and 3 girls is reached by June 5 th. 4) Each team will be scheduled to play 3 home matches and 3 away matches. You will be responsible to reserve courts for your home matches. When you have found a club or tennis facility to host your home matches, please submit to me the three dates and times of your home matches. It s best if you provide 5 or 6 dates to choose from. We recommend three courts for 2 hours. 5) Please note: Only teams with registered juniors meeting the minimum of at least (3 boys and 3 girls) will be considered valid teams and scheduled for match play. ***Teams not meeting the requirements by March 12th will not be valid and will be listed in the system as incomplete. Incomplete teams will not be eligible for scheduling. The League Coordinator will place players from incomplete teams on other teams if possible. Please read the policies regarding refunds. Valid teams may continue to add players to their roster, beyond the original 3 girls/ 3 boys minimum after the deadline. See rules about minimum match requirements for eligibility for Sectional Championships. 6) Have assistant team manager perform duties in your absence.

6 7) Obtain the match schedule for your team via Tennislink. The schedules is posted to Tennislink See How to View Schedule, view a roster & print a scorecard instruction sheet on the pnw.usta.com website under USTA Jr. Team Tennis page. This information should be passed along to player parents as well. 8) Check regularly for schedule updates in the Tennislink system. 9) At the beginning of the season, check player availability for all matches and plan a lineup for the entire season. Planning up front will allow all players to get a more equitable amount of match play. In addition, you will know if you can field a complete team for all matches. Verify that any additional players needed are registered prior to participating in any match. Only matches played by registered players can be counted towards a team s score. 10) Confirm both home and away matches with opponent s team manager 3 to 4 days in advance. The League Coordinator must be notified of any changes managers make to the original schedule so that changes may be posted to Tennislink ASAP. However, changes to the schedule are strongly discouraged. Changes should only be made in extreme circumstances. 11) Be present at all matches to make lineup, field the team and assign players to courts. 12) Provide balls (usually 3 cans) and snacks for both teams at the home matches. 13) Provide guidance to the team at all matches. 14) Report the score on the Tennislink system within 48 hours for all home matches. See the instructions on How to Report Score on the USTA PNW Jr. Team Tennis WEB site. 15) Confirm the score on the Tennislink system for all away matches within one week of the match.
