She was a very versatile player for the Buffs, making a seamless transition from middle blocker to outside hitter. Cuff recorded a season-best seven kills on two occasions. The first time was against Louisiana- Lafayette (9/12) and the second came against Montana State (9/18). Cuff hit.400 or above in eight matches. She saw more time in the back row than in the past and picked up a career best seven digs against Weber State (9/18). At the net, Cuff posted a season-best six blocks twice. She had six block assists versus MSU (9/18) and recorded five block assists and one block solo at Utah (9/23) in the Pac-12 opener. During the non-conference season, she was named to the Rice Adidas Invitational All-Tournament Team. Cuff tallied 84 kills, 33 digs and 38 blocks during the season. As a Sophomore in 2014 Cuff started in 24 of 31 matches for the Buffs and had a breakout season. She led the team with a.339 hitting percentage and hit.342 in conference only matches, which ranked fourth in the league. Cuff hit.700 against Robert Morris (9/13) with seven kills on 10 errorless attempts. 2 players just one error on 18 swings. Cuff also had a great performance in a five-set win against No. 2 Washington, hitting.429 with six kills on 14 errorless attacks. She posted five or more blocks in six matches and recorded a careerbest seven blocks in a four-set win against Oregon State (11/26). Cuff recorded 142 kills, 28 digs and 76 blocks for points. As a Freshman in 2013 Cuff was able to contribute in 17 of CU s 32 matches as a true freshman. She made her collegiate debut in CU s season opener against St. Mary s (8/30). She hit.466 with 34 kills and seven errors on 58 total attacks in the middle. Cuff recorded almost all of her a career-highs in the Baylor Invitational when the Buffs took on Appalachian State (9/13) with her seven kills, one assist, six blocks and 10.0 points. Cuff s best attacking percentage came against Northwestern State (9/13) when she had six kills on seven errorless swings (.857). Cuff completed her freshman campaign with five digs, 17 blocks and 43.5 points. Cuff played at Torrey Pines, coached by Brennan Dean. TPHS was the preseason No. 1 team in the country in 2012 and held that ranking through October. TPHS has recorded a 29-4 record through the second round of the California Interscholastic Federation. Cuff is leading the Falcons in hitting percentage, blocks and service aces. The 2012 team captured the Durango Tournament title (one of the nation s top high school tournaments) and was invited to play in the Nfinity Battle on the Plains. Cuff played her sophomore and junior seasons at Santa Fe Christian and finished with (2010) and (2011) records. She led her team in kills, kills percentage, and blocks for both years as well. Cuff started her prep career at TPHS and was the first freshman to make the varsity team in the program s history and started all season, helping the squad to a record and a runner-up finish at the CIF San Diego Section (Division 1) Tournament. 3 Cuff played club volleyball for Orlando Volleyball Academy and won a Bronze Medal in the open division at the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics in Upon moving to the San Diego area, she played for both of the top clubs in the area, Coast Volleyball Club and Wave Volleyball Club. In 2009, the Wave team was the No. 1 ranked team in southern California and placed third in the open division at JOs. The following year, the Wave finished fifth in the open division at JOs. Playing for the Coast in 2011, her team took first in the Martin Luther King tournament. Cuff was recruited by many of the top NCAA Division I programs such as Cal, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, Texas and Florida. Katelyn Cuff was born on September 2, 1994 and is the daughter of Bob and Jennifer Cuff. Her mother played collegiate volleyball at Nevada as both a middle blocker and right side hitter. She was a four-year starter and earned the program s first All-Big West Conference first team honors. Cuff s younger sister Lexi is also a volleyball player. 4 players Gwen Herring 5-9, Senior, Defensive Specialist/Libero Carlsbad, Calif. (La Costa Canyon) 21 Mahoney on Herring Gwen is poised to have a great senior season after a very productive spring. One of our most consistent passers, we are looking for her to bolster our serve receive offense. In the last three matches of the season, Herring recorded four or more digs. She notched four digs at California (11/21), six digs versus Washington State (11/25) and a season-best eight against Utah (11/27). Herring played a total of 26 sets and recorded three assists and 21 digs. As a Sophomore in 2014 Herring debuted for the Buffs against Northwestern (8/29), but picked up her first dig in the following match against Northern Illinois (8/30) when she recorded two assists and 11 digs. Herring had two stretches during the season when she couldn t play due to concussions, but when she did play, she was a dependable defensive specialist. She recorded 121 digs in 21 matches, averaging 1.75 per set. Herring collected a career best 15 digs in a four set win against California (10/19). She picked up 10 or more digs in three matches. Herring also had 11 digs against NIU and 12 digs against Northern Colorado (12/5) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. As a Freshman in 2013 Did not compete. Herring graduated from La Costa Canyon. She was a 5-9 outside hitter, libero and defensive specialist for the Mavericks and was coached by Pat McDougal. 5 recorded a 31-9 record. The Mavericks won the league championship from as well as the CIF Championship. In 2011, the squad also won the southern California regional championship. Herring played for the Encinitas Wave Volleyball Club and was coached by Jackie Bernardin. She turned her attention to her beach volleyball game by playing for a beach volleyball club this past year before enrolling at CU. Prior to signing with the Buffs, she was recruited by UC-Davis, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, Denver, Pepperdine and Stanford. She chose CU because it was the right fit. Gwendolyn Christine Herring was born on May 10, 1995 in San Diego, Calif. She is the daughter of Robert and Janette Herring of Carlsbad, Calif. Herring has one older sister, Amelia, who plays tennis at Stanford. She enjoys going to the beach, playing sports, drawing and hanging out with friends. 6 players Kiara McKibben 5-10, Senior, Setter Colorado Springs, Colo. (Doherty/San Francisco) 11 Mahoney on McKibben Even though Kiara spent the last three years in another program, we are excited for to share her veteran leadership and competitive energy with our group. We are confident she will have a smooth transition into running our offense. At San Francisco ( ) McKibben returned home to Colorado for her final season of collegiate volleyball, playing her first three seasons at San Francisco. USF ran a 6-2 offense in 2015 and McKibben played in all 108 sets and started every match. McKibben led the team with 687 assists, which ranked ninth in the West Coast Conference. She recorded nine double-doubles during the season, which included a season-high 44 assists and 13 digs against Gonzaga. During the summer of 2015, she participated in the European Global Challenge with the BIP/USA Development Team in Pula, Croatia. As, a sophomore in 2014, McKibben was the primary setter, playing in 115 of 116 sets. She totaled 1,041 assists and had three matches with 50 or more assists. Her season-high 58 assists came in a victory against Portland. McKibben also added 65 kills and 20 aces during the season. In her freshman campaign (2013), McKibben recorded a season-best 33 assists against Notre Dame. She compiled 331 assists and 127 digs, earning a spot on the All-WCC All-Freshman team. A versatile athlete, McKibben has been a part of USF s beach volleyball team the last two seasons. McKibben attended Doherty in Colorado Springs, where she played with current Buffs Cierra and Gabby Simpson. During her senior season at DHS, the Spartans posted an undefeated 29-0 record and earned the Colorado 5A State title. That same season, she was selected as a second-team Under Armor All-American and also earned all-state and all-conference first team honors. McKibben compiled 390 assists, 205 kills, 167 digs and 54 aces as a senior. The Spartans posted three consecutive Metro League Championships while she was on the team. McKibben played club volleyball for CVA and was coached by Rey Reyes and Michelle Buckner. Kiara McKibben is the daughter of Mark and Roseann McKibben, who are both members of the Air Force. She was born on January 18, 1995 in Honolulu, Hawai i and has one sister, Tiana, who is a member of the U.S. Navy. McKibben enjoys reading, sewing and going to the beach. 7 Cierra Simpson 6-0, Senior, Defensive Specialist/Libero Colorado Springs, Colo. (Doherty) 10 Mahoney on Simpson As a senior team captain and a captain for our defense at the libero position, we are expecting CeCe to do a lot of heavy lifting for our program this season. No one works harder than CeCe in the gym and her work ethic sets a tone for the rest of our team. She was the only athlete to play in all 124 sets during the season. Simpson completed the season ranked seventh in the Pac-12 with 4.07 digs per set and was fifth in conference-only matches with 4.44 digs per set. During the campaign, she became the 14 th Buff to record 1,000 career digs and set the CU rally scoring career digs record, breaking the previous mark of 1,170. Simpson s defensive presence earned her the Pac- 12 Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 5) after averaging 5.38 digs per set in CU s wins against then-no. 22 Oregon and Oregon State, CU s second road sweep since joining the Pac-12. Her numbers got even better the following two weeks, averaging 5.88 digs per set both weeks. Simpson recorded a career-best 31 digs in a five-set thriller against then-no. 1 USC (a narrow loss for the Buffs) and followed that up with 16 digs against then-no. 12 UCLA (a three-set loss). She equaled her career-best the following week against California and added 16 digs against then-no. 6 Stanford, a pair of four-set wins. With her two 31 digs performances, Simson became just the third Buff to have multiple 30 dig matches in a career. Simpson added 124 assists and 19 service aces during the season. 8 As a Sophomore in 2014 Simpson became the first Buff to record 500 digs in a single season, breaking the CU single season and sophomore record with 519. She recorded 10 or more digs in 27 matches and in 11 of those matches, she had 20 or more digs. Simpson picked up a career-high 28 digs in a five-set road victory against Arizona State (11/2). Prior to that, she had recorded 26 digs against Idaho State (9/12), which helped her earn Omni Invitational All-Tournament Team honors. Simpson was ranked 10 th in the Pac- 12 with 3.93 digs per set and was seventh in league-only matches (4.23 dps). She was also a reliable server for the Buffs, leading the team with 29 aces. Simpson tied the CU sophomore single match record for most aces in a match when she served up five against Pittsburgh (9/6). Simpson was a constant in the CU lineup and was the only Buff to play in all 132 sets. At the end of the season, she was honored as the team s defensive MVP. As a Freshman in 2013 Simpson saw action in 116 of 119 sets (all 32 matches) in her first season as a Buff. As the starting libero, Simpson led the team with 372 digs and averaged 3.21 digs per set. She made her collegiate debut against St. Mary s (8/30) and recorded seven digs. Simpson had 21 matches with double-digit digs and two matches with 20 or more. She picked up a career-high 22 digs against Appalachian State (9/13) at Baylor Invitational to earn alltournament team recognition. Not only was Simpson a key factor in Colorado s defense, but was also one of the team s toughest servers. She ranked second on the team with 28 aces and had three different matches with three aces. Simpson was named to the Pac-12 All- Freshmen honorable mention team and was also recognized by the team as one of two most improved players at the season ending banquet. Cierra Simpson was a member of the Doherty team that won the A Colorado State Championship after winning the Colorado Spring Metro League Championship to complete its 29-0 perfect season. During the season, Simpson recorded 182 kills, 208 digs, 40 blocks and 39 aces in 86 sets and was named to the Under Armour All-America Watch List. 9 Simpson was named the DHS Most Valuable Player as a junior, helping to guide the Spartans to a share of the Colorado Springs Metro League Championship. Over the course of four years with the Spartans, Simpson was a two-time first team all-area 4A/5A Colorado Springs team member, a three-time first team all-conference member and was named to the second team once. Simpson was an academic all-state first team selection and DHS honor roll member her freshman through senior years. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and earned the CU James H. Baker Scholarship. Simpson played club volleyball for Colorado Juniors under the direction of Kevin Marquis. The team placed second at the Puerto Rico National Championship in 2013 and won the same tournament in Simpson was named to the all-tournament team after helping her team to the victory. She is the daughter of Rick and Serena Simpson. Rick played basketball at Louisiana Tech and Serena played basketball at UMKC. She won the 2012 Colorado 5A State Volleyball Championship at DHS with her younger sister Gabby, who is a junior on the CU volleyball team. Simpson also has an older sister, Taylor, who was a 2014 All- American on the CU volleyball team and another younger sister, Riley. Simpson enjoys playing sports, running, reading, writing and traveling. Simpson is an advertising major with a GPA greater than 3.2. She has been named to the Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention team twice (2014 and 15). 15 Buffs Volleyball

10 Joslyn Hayes 6-3, Junior, Outside Hitter Santa Monica, Calif. (Santa Monica) 22 Mahoney on Hayes Jos is a big, physical attacker with a huge arm. She has the ability to play on both the left and the right side and will see time at both this season. As a captain, Jos has done a great job focusing our team and leading us in the right direction. She started in the first two matches of the season, but suffered an injury in the first set against Florida State (8/29) and was forced to miss the following four matches. Hayes gradually started seeing more playing time for the Buffs as the season went on, especially as the team entered the Pac-12 schedule. In the Buffs first ever win against Stanford (10/18), Hayes recorded seven kills and three blocks. In the following match against Arizona (10/23), she recorded a season high 11 kills in a four-set win and also hit.286. Hayes recorded 117 kills, 38 digs and 32 blocks during the season. As a Sophomore in 2014 Hayes had her season cut short, playing in just 12 matches, which allowed her to redshirt the season. She made her time on the court count and was named to the Omni Hotels Colorado Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team after helping CU to wins against Portland State, Georgia State and Pittsburgh. Hayes hammered a career high 13 kills twice during the year, once against Pitt (9/6) and against South Dakota (9/19). She recorded a.417 hitting percentage against Butler (9/13) with 11 kills and just two errors on 24 attacks. Hayes tallied 117 kills, 26 digs and 34 blocks while hitting.153. As a Freshman in 2013 Hayes saw action in 22 matches, including three starts during the 2013 season. Hayes saw most of her action as a right side hitter to give the Buffs a bigger block as she recorded a career-high three blocks on three different occasions. She finished her first season with 29 kills, 118 attempts, 10 digs, 17 blocks and 39.5 points. Hayes played at Santa Monica under coach Liane Sato. The 2012 Samohi squad finished the season with a 12-3 record after playing in the CIF semifinal match. A fouryear letterwinner at SMHS, Hayes was named first-team all-league freshman, sophomore, junior and senior seasons. SMHS has produced some top quality volleyball players and touts eight Olympians, including her high school coach, Sato, a twotime Olympian. Many others have gone on to have successful volleyball careers including Liz Masakayan who has played and coached several Olympians. Hayes played for the Santa Monica Volleyball Club for her first three years on the club scene before switching to Sunshine Volleyball Club, one of the top clubs in southern California. She has played for Sunshine for two years where she was coached by UCLA men s volleyball standout Brennan Prahler, and will complete her club career this year under coach, Mike Campbell, who has ties to both the men s and women s programs at UCLA. Pfefferle hit.294 during the season, tallying a career-high.727 hitting efficiency with eight kills on 11 errorless attacks against Presbyterian (8/30). She also recorded a season-best 11 kills twice, once against Arizona State (10/3) and against California (10/19). Pfefferle started in 32 of 34 matches and recorded 159 kills, 12 aces, 57 digs and 138 blocks. She was named to the 2014 Pac- 12 All-Freshman honorable mention team and was honored as the Co-Most Improved Player at the team s annual banquet. Pfefferle helped NHS to a record during the 2013 season. That year, she was named All-Missota Conference and was ranked in the state s top-10 in hitting percentage (.408) and blocks (1.53 blocks per set), while adding 3.59 kills per set. She also played basketball and competed in track for the Raiders. Pfefferle set the NHS single season record in rebounds as a junior, ranked in the state s top 10 for rebounding and earned all-conference honorable mention honors in basketball. Shadley came into the match as an outside hitter and tallied a seasonbest six kills, nine digs and two blocks while hitting.235, helping the Buffs upset then- No. 21 ASU in five sets. Shadley also recorded nine digs earlier in the season against Sam Houston State (9/11). In total, she recorded 54 digs, 15 kills and four aces during the campaign. 15 championship. The Eagles also won the state title in 2012 after compiling a 36-3 record. Shadley was named the volleyball district MVP her junior and senior years. As a senior, she was also named all-district first team and allstate first team and averaged a monstrous 4.3 kills per set earned the distinction of being named to PrepVolleyball s Soph79, which highlight the top 79 players in the country. During Shadley s junior year, she was also named to the all-state first team. She was also a member of the basketball and track teams at PPCS. She has been a two year first team all-district and all-state performer, as well as the district MVP in basketball and in track, Shadley competes in the high jump, pole vault, 400 and 800-meter runs, as well as the 4x400-meter relay where she is a two-time Texas state champion. (Mater Dei/Oregon) 1 Mahoney on Shebby Frankie will be a great addition to our program as a six-rotation player who can attack on either pin. She has been a starter in the Pac-12, so she knows what it will take to be successful at this level. At Oregon ( ) During her sophomore season at Oregon, Shebby played in 23 matches, starting in 10, and averaged 1.81 kills per set. She recorded a season best 15 kills twice, once against LIU Brooklyn and again versus Washington State. In the same match against WSU, Shebby picked up a season high 11 digs and 17.5 points. The Buffs began the season running a 6-2 offense, with Simpson setting and hitting, but just a couple of weeks in to the non-conference schedule, CU switched to a 5-1, moving Simpson to the right side. The move worked well for Simpson as she became one of CU s biggest offensive threats during the season, tallying 419 kills and points, second on the team. She was also 10 th in the Pac-12 Conference in kills (3.41 kps) and ninth in points (3.97 pps). In conference only matches, Simpson was just as impressive, ranking ninth in kills (3.53) and tenth in points (4.01). She was named to the Rice Adidas Invitational All- Tournament team (9/11-12) after notching 35 kills in three matches (11 sets). The following weekend, Simpson was named the Omni Invitational MVP after guiding CU to a 4-0 record. She picked up 66 kills in four matches, averaging 4.61 kills per set, and was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week. In the first match of the weekend, she hammered a then-career-high 21 kills against Montana State (9/18) and hit.372. She also hit.370 later that day against Weber State with 16 kills. 18 efficiency in CU s first-ever win against Stanford (10/18). During the postseason, Simpson was selected to the All-Pac-12 honorable mention team. She finished the year with 419 kills, 100 assists, 26 aces, 210 digs and 83 blocks. As a Freshman in 2014 Simpson was one of CU s most versatile athletes, playing both right side and setter positions. She started in 33 of 34 matches and saw action in 131 of 135 sets. Simpson recorded 184 kills, which was fourth on the team, and also handed out 1,691 assists, the second best on the team. She ranked third for the Buffs with 20 aces and 231 digs. Simpson recorded CU s first triple-double since 2002 against Washington State (11/16) with 10 kills, 10 assists and 15 digs, a career best. In the win against Butler, she handed out 48 assists. Simpson had 13 matches with 20 or more assists. She earned co-most Improved honors at the team s postseason banquet and was a finalist for CU s Female Freshman of the Year award. 20 Marie Zimmerman 6-0, Junior, Setter Lakewood, Colo. (Lakewood/Sacred Heart) 9 Mahoney on Zimmerman Marie is young to the setting position but has made tremendous strides in a short period of time. She is a well-rounded and competitive player who will be a great addition to our team. At Sacred Heart ( ) Zimmerman played for two seasons at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. In 2014, she averaged 8.25 assists per set and added 1.92 digs per set. Zimmerman handed out a careerhigh 58 assists in a five set match against Central Connecticut State. She reach 50 assists one other time during the season, recording 50 against Saint Francis University, another five set contest. In 2013, Zimmerman mostly played as an outside hitter, helping SHU to a record. She averaged 1.55 kills and 1.82 digs per set. On three occasions, Zimmerman tallied 13 kills. She also collected three double-doubles, including a 10 kill and 17 digs performance, a season-best, against CCSU. Zimmerman attended Lakewood where she lettered four years in volleyball. She led the Tigers to the league, district and regional championships her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. In conference only matches, Abu averaged 1.28 blocks per set, which was third in the league. Her father played football at Utah State, while her mother swam at Santa Clara. Not only can she score as an attacker, but she can play the entire game at an elite level and her work ethic and competitiveness makes everyone around her better. HONORS 2016 USA CNT Team China Tour As a Freshman in 2014 (at Purdue) Smith saw action in 33 matches and started in 10. Smith recorded 10 double-doubles, which included a 13 kills and 13 digs performance against No. 7 Ohio State. In a match against Northwestern, she picked up a season-best 14 digs. Smith recorded a season-high.529 hitting efficiency against Austin Peay, which included nine kills on 17 errorless swings. Smith averaged 2.05 digs per set (227 total digs), the third most on the team. She also recorded 80 kills, 21 aces and 20 blocks. She has one younger sibling, Bailey, who also plays volleyball. Joachim enjoys making jewelry, drawing, sculpting and hiking. She also has her own business making wood and acrylic pens since she was in sixth grade. She made the pens for family and friends and also sold them at a local gift shop. 27 Lauren Dorrell 6-0, Freshman, Outside Hitter Brentwood, Tenn. (Father Ryan) 18 Mahoney on Dorrell Lauren is a high flying athlete with potential to play both left and right-sides. As she progresses in the college game we see her as a 6-rotation player who can impact our program very early in her career. Dorrell has only been playing volleyball since the start of high school and but excelled quickly in the sport. A remarkable athlete, she was selected to the AVCA/Under Armour Girls All-American Second Team. Dorrell led the Fighting Irish to a record in She recorded 466 kills, 46 blocks, 314 digs and 18 aces as a senior and was named the MVP after guiding FRHS to the 2015 Division II AA State Championship. She was also a member of the all-region team and was named to Prepvolleyball.com s Senior Aces list, which recognizes the top 100 players across the country. After her senior season was over, she was named the Gatorade Tennessee Player of the Year. In 2014 as a junior, Dorrell amassed 617 kills, 50 blocks, 277 digs and 30 aces as FRHS recorded a record. She earned all-region honors that season as well. Her most club volleyball experience comes from the Houston Juniors Volleyball Club in Houston, Texas, one of the premiere clubs in the country. She played there for two years under coaches Courtney Alwell, Tara Cross Battle, Courtney Rhodes and Jeff Ham. For the 2016 season, she will compete for Houston Juniors 18 Elite. One of the nation s top recruits, Dorrell was heavily recruited by many schools, including Stanford, Virginia, Arizona State, North Carolina and Louisville. 28 players Lillie Klemmer 5-11, Freshman, Middle Blocker/Opposite Honolulu, Hawai i (Panahou) 16 Mahoney on Klemmer Though listed as a middle blocker, Lillie is a skilled player who can play several different positions. She will see time at the left and the right as we find how she can best help our program. Klemmer, a three-year starter at Punahou, was a two-time all-state selection. She first earned the honor in 2014 after helping Punahou to the Hawai i State Championship and was again selected to the team in In 2013, Klemmer was an honorable mention all-state selection as she helped PHS place second at the state championship. A versatile player, Klemmer was mainly a middle blocker, but also played outside and right side. Klemmer has been playing sand volleyball for the last two years and qualified for the 2015 AAU Championships in Hermosa Beach, Calif. She played for Imi Ike Volleyball Club and was coached by two-time Olympian Robyn Ah Mow- Santos. Klemmer was a part of the USAV High Performance teams her freshman and sophmore years. Many other programs recruited Klemmer, including Dartmouth, UC Riverside, Seattle, Texas A&M, South Florida and Denver. 29 Justine Spann 5-8, Freshman, Outside Hitter Chandler, Ariz. (Basha) 22 5 Mahoney on Spann A high flyer, Justine may look small but she plays huge. Another complete 6-rotation player, she can pass and defend as well as any upper-classman and has a fantastic competitive spirit. Spann, a AVCA Under Armour Girls Third Team All-America selection, tallied a state-leading 710 kills on 1,427 attacks and hit.348, the third best in Arizona, with only 214 errors. She also posted 47 blocks and tallied 536 digs as Basha finished the season She was named the MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week for Arizona after recording 60 kills, 24 digs and six blocks the week of Sept. 7-14, Spann was named the MaxPreps Player of the Match seven times over the course of the 2015 season. A three-time captain, she earned numerous awards during her senior season, including Basha Varsity Volleyball Player of the Year, Arizona Central Female Athlete of the Week (Oct. 8-15), Nike Invitational All-Tournament Team and Basha Player of the year. As a junior in 2014, Spann helped the Bears to a record with 620 kills, again the most kills in Arizona that season. She was named to the Nike Invitational All-Tournament team, Arizona Republic Second Team, All-Chandler School District First Team, All-Section First Team (Division I, Section II) and All-Division First Team.
