MF 9 GP, 1 A ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT: Fordham enters the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship as the #3 seed and will play #6 Duquesne at 9:00 PM ET on Thursday. The winner will then move on to meet either Dayton or Charlotte in the semifinals on Friday. This is Fordham s fifth appearance in the Atlantic 10 Tournament with the Rams reaching the Atlantic 10 Championship game the past two seasons (2006, 2007). The Rams also made the Atlantic 10 Championship in 1996 and In their previous appearances, Fordham is 3-4 overall. In 1996, Fordham lost their semi-final match-up with Dayton by a 4-3 score, while falling in the semifinals to Richmond, 1-0, in In 2006, Fordham defeated La Salle (3-2) and Charlotte (2-1) to reach its first Atlantic 10 Championship game, but fell to Saint Louis, 2-1. Last season, Fordham advanced past Dayton on penalty kicks to its second Championship game, but again fell short, this time to Charlotte, 3-2. THE GAMES: The Championship commences on Thursday, November 6th with No. 5 St. Bonaventure facing No. 4 Saint Louis at 6:30 p.m., followed by No. 3 Fordham versus No. 6 Duquesne at 9:00 p.m. The semifinal matches, scheduled for Friday, November 7th, feature top-seeded Charlotte playing the lowest remaining seed at 6:30 p.m., and Dayton, the No. 2 seed, playing the highest remaining seed at 9:00 p.m. The A-10 Championship match is set for Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m Fordham Women s Soccer Schedule Date Opponent Time/Res. Fordham did not face Charlotte during the regular season. LAST TIME OUT: Still with an opportunity for a first round bye, the Fordham women s soccer team got goals from Katie Sanchez, Kim Boulos, and Michelle Ancelj to post a 3-1 win over the Xavier Musketeers in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Rams however will be the #3 seed at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship, as Dayton also won on Sunday to earn the #2 seed and the bye. Courtney Fedge found Katie Sanchez for a shot that scored to the right side of the goal for her fifth of the season. The goal gave Sanchez 75 career points, which moves her past Kirstin Gellatly ( ) for second place on Fordham s career scoring list. The Rams made it 2-0 only 2:26 later, as Katie McDermott got the 2008 ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN S SOCCER PREDICTED ORDER OF FINISH (as voted by the coaches) 1. Charlotte 2. Dayton 3. Saint Louis 4. Ancelj then crossed the ball to Kim Boulos, who scored her team-leading tenth goal of the season. Boulos is now the seventh Fordham women s soccer to score at least ten goals in a season. The score stayed that way until the 58th minute, where Xavier got on the board. Maggie O Neal scored on a shot to the upper right of the goal on a pass from Sara Doutt. Just 4:03 later, Fordham regained their two-goal advantage, as Ancelj headed home a Mariella Romano corner kick for her third goal of the season, giving Fordham a 3-1 lead, which would hold up, as Fordham out shot Xavier, 21-8, in the game. For Fordham, Jen Byer posted the win in net without recording a save, though Fordham was credited with a defender save. Susan Loeffler made five saves for Xavier with the Xavier defense credited with two defender saves. THE COACHING STAFF: The Rams are coached by Ness Selmani, PRONUNCIATION GUIDE Ancelj ahn-cell DeCesaro de-cess-ah-row Loguidice low-joo-dis Ribadeneyra rib-ah-den-air-ah who is in his 13th year at Rose Hill. Selmani is a two-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year (2003 & 2006) and two-time Iron Major Award winner as Fordham Coach of the Year (2004 & 2007). He has coached Fordham to five appearances at the Atlantic 10 Championship, and earlier this season recorded his 100th coaching victory. He has a career record of heading into this year s Atlantic 10 Championship. Assisting Selmani on the bench is assistant coach Casey Sommers. THE CAPTAINS: For the 2008 season, seniors Catherine Huvane and Katie Sanchez and junior Lauren Bustos will serve as the team s captains ATLANTIC 10 ALL- C O N F E R E N C E T E A M S ANNOUNCED (11/5): The Atlantic 10 Conference announced the 2008 Women s Soccer All-Conference Teams this afternoon with Fordham having three players earn accolades, led by junior defender Lauren Bustos receiving the Atlantic 10 Defensive

Player of the Year award as well as First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.

Boulos, a Second Team AllLeague selection last season, had an outstanding senior campaign, leading the Rams in goals (10), points (23), and game winning goals (5).

Academically, Boulos is studying International Political Economy with a 3.58 GPA.

Senior forward Kim Boulos was also selected to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team, as well as to the All-Academic team, while sophomore Katie McDermott earned Second Team All-Conference honors for the second straight year. Bustos is the first Fordham women s soccer player to earn a major Atlantic 10 award, and the third Fordham defender to earn First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, joining Kara Coniker (2000) and Corey Dunfey (2003). She started all 18 contests this season and anchored a defensive unit that registered seven shutouts, including five in league play, and limited 12 Ram opponents to one goal or less. Boulos, a Second Team AllLeague selection last season, had an outstanding senior campaign, leading the Rams in goals (10), points (23), and game winning goals (5). 4 KEEPING IT CLEAN: Though fast and physical, the Fordham women s soccer teams ranks last in the Atlantic 10 in fouls (7.5 per game) and tied for second to last in cards with two. STINGY DEFENSE: With a defensive core that started every game this season, it was no surprise to find Fordham among the best defenses in the Atlantic 10. In league play, Fordham allowed only ten goals and, on average, gave up just nine shots a contest. This is compared to 22 goals scored in conference play for Fordham and a 16.9 shot average.
