The Mean Green are 9-18 all-time against the Sooners after defeating Oklahoma in five sets in Norman two years ago. Then sophomore Holly Milam posted nine kills and four blocks. NORTH TEXAS' TOP STORYLINES, STREAKS & TRENDS Record-Breaking Win Streak Friday s loss to Southern Miss was the first for North Texas since dropping its second match of the season against Texas Tech. The 11-game win streak broke a school record set in In that span, the Mean Green dropped just one set, which snapped a 17-set winning streak one shy of a record set by the same 2014 squad. C-USA TV North Texas is the sole Conference USA school to have five players with at least 100 kills through the preseason. Oklahoma SOONERS (3-11, 0-2 BIG 12) Rewriting the Record Book Seniors Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam and junior Karley York have continued to cement their legacy in the program by working their way up the program s career records lists. Milam inched closer to Heather Black for 8th on the all-time kills list with 23 kills this weekend to increase her career tally to 963. Milam is 15 shy of passing Black s total of 977. With a career attack percentage of.357, Chamberlain is on pace for the best mark in school history. She became just the ninth player in program history to amass 300 career blocks and sits three shy of passing Barb Green for 8th all-time. Player Kills 1. 2 2017 North Texas volleyball Game Notes Sept vs. OKLAHOMA National Statistical Rankings Through the first four weeks of the season, setter Karley York and middle blocker Amanda Chamberlain find themselves among the top 30 in the country in multiple statistical categories. York ranks 13th in assists per set (11.52) and 25th in total assists (599). Chamberlain is second in the nation, behind Maryland s Hailey Murray in attack percentage (.496). As a team, the Mean Green rank fourth in kills per set (14.81), fourth in assists per set (13.92), and 13th in attack percentage (.296) North Texas Tabbed Sixth in C-USA Poll For the second straight year, the North Texas volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll. The Mean Green placed two players on the C-USA Preseason Team in senior middle blockers Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam. Nearly every home match is a sell out and the low roof provides an advantage to the Mean Green as they know how to play it. In the Palileo era, the Mean Green own a record when playing at home. Tournament Perfection North Texas wrapped up preseason tournament play at the Maroon Classic in Starkville, Miss., on Sept. 15 and 16, with a perfect 11-0 record and four titles. The Mean Green was declared the champion of the North Texas Invitiational (2-0), Beantown Challenge (3-0), North Texas Challenge (3-0) and the Maroon Classic (3-0). Setter Karley York was named to the alltournament team in each of the four events, earning MVP honors at the North Texas Challenge. Tradition of Academic Success The North Texas volleyball program received an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive year. Additionally, the Mean Green made the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which indicates a top-25 grade-point average among Division I programs. The AVCA introduced the honor roll to mark the 25th anniversary of the award.
