The Mean Green also gave the Coyotes their first two-game losing streak of the season. Roosevelt Smart scored 4 points, fourth-most in CBI tournament history and Zachary Simmons grabbed 17 rebounds, second-most in CBI history. North Texas hit 14 three-pointers in the win. North Texas Holds Two CBI Team Records The Mean Green defeated Mercer in the CBI quarterfinals 96-67, 29-point win is the largest margin of victory in CBI Tournament history. North Texas followed up that performance by breaking another CBI record shooting 14-for- 20 from downtown against Jacksonville State in CBI semifinals. The 70 percent shooting from the three-point line set a new CBI Tournament record. Smart Among CBI Tournament Scoring Records Sophomore guard Roosevelt Smart has already scored 11 points in five CBI Tournament games and is 12 points away from third for most points scored in Tournament history. The entire top- 10 has played six games with Smart on pace to finish top-. Smart is just short of the CBI record for scoring average sitting 22.6 points per game in five games with Houston s Robert McKiver at 28. from Smart has hit 19 three-pointers to set a new CBI three-point record in just five games and Jorden Duffy has hit 16. Woolridge Handing Out Assists Sophomore guard Ryan Woolridge tied his career-high with 11 assists against Mercer in CBI semifinals, which was the second-most in CBI Tournament history. Woolridge is averaging 7.4 assists per game and has 7 in five games. Woolridge has only 1 turnovers and is eight assists away from tying the CBI Tournament record of 45 by UTEP s Julyan Stone in Mean Green Putting Up Points In CBI Tournament North Texas has scored 407 total points in five CBI tournament games. The Mean Green are 40 points away from finishing ninth in the records books. 70 points or more in the game three finale would put North Texas into fifth for most points scored as a team in CBI history. Zachary Simmons Continues Strong Postseason Play Freshman Zachary Simmons is averaging a double-double in five CBI games at 10.4 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Simmons has made 2-for-1 from the field, his 74.4 field goal percentage is just short of a new CBI Tournament record set by George Washington s Tyler Cavanugh who shot 75 percent off 18-for-24 from the field. Simmons grabbed a CBI record 22 rebounds at San Francisco and his 60 total rebounds is third-most in tournament history. Raining Three-Pointers For Mean Green North Texas has hit 46 three-pointers in five games, which is 9.2 per game. The Mean Green have hit the fifth most in CBI history. The CBI Tournament record for -point field goals as a team is 62 by Wyoming, who played six games in th Time In 11 years, CBI Goes to Final Game North Texas forced a game three in the CBI finals by defeating San Francisco It is the ninth time in CBI history the championship series has gone the distance. The Mean Green are looking to become the fifth team in CBI history to lose game one on the road and win back-to-back home games to win the CBI Championship. Conference USA - CBI Tournament Championships North Texas is looking to become the second C-USA team to win a CBI Championship with Tulsa winning the 2008 CBI title going 5-1, winning the final in three games. In 2009, UTEP lost in the finals to Oregon State in three games. It would give Conference USA their first postseason national tournament win since 201 when East Carolina took home the College Insider Tournament Championship. No current C-USA league members have won a postseason national tournament.

The Mean Green are 1-6 at home this season and hold a perfect -0 record in CBI home games with wins against Mercer 96-67, Jacksonville State and USF The 1 home wins for North Texas is the most since the season when they went 14-2 at the Super Pit. Two 0-Point Scorers Against Mercer Junior guard Jorden Duffy scored a career-high 1 points and sophomore guard Roosevelt Smart finished with 1 points. It is just the second time in school history that two North Texas players scored 0 points or more in the same game. The only other time was against Drake on 1/0/1969. Crest Whitaker 6 points Joe Hamilton 1 points Jorden Duffy Has Burst On The Scene Junior guard Jorden Duffy made his fifthstraight start against San Francisco and finished with a team-high 15 points and a career-high nine rebounds. He scored 18.6 points against Jacksonville State. Duffy is averaging 19.5 points per game in five College Basketball Invitational games. Duffy has set career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, field goals made, free throws made and three-pointers made in these five games. Duffy s 9 points in his last five games is more than his scoring output from his previous 15 games combined (90). Draper Among Top-Scoring Walk-Ons Redshirt sophomore DJ Draper has scored the third most points as a walk-on in the nation at 184 points. Brocke Stepteau (Hawaii) 265 points, Tyler Sharpe (Northern Kentucky) 209 points have scored more. Draper was huge for the Mean Green during conference play with 8.6 points per game in 15 league games. Draper is sixth in C-USA in -point field goal percentage at 41.5 percent. Woolridge Breaks Single-Season Assist Record Sophomore guard Ryan Woolridge is second on the team in scoring at 12.8 points per game. Woolridge has dished out 21 assists in 7 games, setting a new single-season record in school history. Woolridge had 106 assists (6.0 per game) in 18 Conference USA games, fourth best in the league. Woolridge is 11th nationally with 21 assists. Woolridge also comes in 8th in minutes played and 2nd nationally at 6. per game. The Mean Green extended their record of 2,740 points this season. North Texas broke the total of 2,628 points. North Texas has scored 85 points or more 10 times this season.

4 INSIDE THE MATCHUP This will be the third meeting between the two schools in a span of five days. North Texas lost the first meeting in game one of the CBI finals on the road at San Francisco The Dons hit 14 three-pointers and dished out 20 assists in the victory. In the second meeting, North Texas used strong defense to win holding the Dons to just 9-for-0 shooting from downtown. Jorden Duffy scored 15 points in the win for North Texas. The University of San Francisco is on the season and holds a 4-8 road record. The Dons earned all four CBI wins at home against Colgate 72-68, Utah Valley 78-7, Campbell and North Texas Their last road win came on Feb. 22 at Pacific Frankie Ferrari, first-team all league, leads the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game and in assists with 174. Freshman Souley Boum is second on the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game and was named to the all-freshman team. Matt McCarthy leads the team in rebounding at 5.8 boards per game and Nate Renfro is second at 5.1 boards per game. The Dons are 7- in their last 10 games and defeated 15th-ranked Saint Mary s earlier in the season. It is the first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 1981 and 82 seasons. USF is one of 16 teams that own multiple NCAA Championships. The Dons won backto-back championships in 1955 and 56 led by future NBA Hall of Famers Bill Russell and KC Jones. Russell was a first team all-american averaging 20 points and 20 rebounds per game. San Francisco extended their school-record with 21 makes from downtown. The Dons have four players who have hit 40 or more threepointers this season. Jordan Ratinho leads the team with 84. The Mean Green are 12-0 when they shoot 70 percent or better from the free throw line. -Point Field Goal Defense North Texas held South Dakota to 6-for- from downtown, Mercer only hit 5-for-26 from the three-point line and Jacksonville State was just 7-for-2 from deep. North Texas held USF to 2-for-15 shooting from the -point line in the second half in game one and held the Dons to 9-for-0 shooting in game two from downtown. In five CBI games, the Mean Green have allowed 41 three-pointers off 145 attempts. North Texas is holding teams to 2.6 percent from downtown and is ranked 4rd in the nation. Freshman Zachary Simmons Holds FG% School Record North Texas freshman big man Zachary Simmons has had a great season around the basket going 98-for-150, which is 65. percent. Will Smith (200-04) 62.2 percent Grant McCasland First Year At North Texas Head coach Grant McCasland has led the Mean Green to a overall record and finished 8-10 in Conference USA play. Last season, North Texas finished 8-22 with only two C-USA wins. McCasland has already improved the squad by 11 wins with the CBI finals game three left. Smart added 20 points in the semifinal win against Jacksonville State, added 15 points in game one of the CBI finals at San Francisco and 1 points in game two, he has hit 10 three-pointers to set a North Texas school record for a single-season. Smart leads the C-USA in three-pointers made, -pointers per game and is second in free throw percentage. Smart is third in -pointers made in the nation and seventh in three-pointers per game at.51. His 87.9 free throw percentage is 26th nationally and is the second-best mark in school history, only Josh White s 90.6 is better. Draper s dad played basketball at Hutchinson community college in Kansas. His grandfather, Don, was part of the Drake final four team that went 26-5 and averaged 12.2 points per game. Draper s mom played volleyball at Mississippi State and his sister is currently a freshman at Oklahoma on the women s gymnastics team that won the National Championship in Smart Named Second Team All-District & All-Conference North Texas sophomore guard Roosevelt Smart was named NABC Second Team All-District and All-Conference C-USA after finishing fourth in C-USA scoring at 18.8 points per game and first in three-pointers made. Smart also was second in free throw percentage at 88.0 for the regular season. Mean Green Breaks -Point School Record North Texas was held to only two three-pointers in game two of the CBI finals but increased the school record for three-pointers made as a team to of the 19 wins have come when they hit 8 or more three-pointers in a game. Roosevelt Smart has accounted for almost 50 percent with a school record 10. DJ Draper has hit 49 and Jorden Duffy is third with 9, including 16 in the CBI Tournament. North Texas -1 in Overtime Games North Texas fell just short of becoming the first team in school history to win four overtime games in a row. No UNT team has ever played five OT games in a single-season. The Mean Green started by taking down Indiana State, 79-76, on Dec. 6, San Diego, 86-8, on Dec. 16 and FIU, 69-67, on Jan 27. The Mean Green forced overtime against WKU on Feb. 15 with a corner three-pointer from Ryan Woolridge. Unfortunately, the OT magic ran out as WKU opened the extra session with five-straight points and outscored North Texas 22-to-14 to earn the victory. 40-Point Games At North Texas Sophomore Roosevelt Smart became the 14th North Texas player to score 40-plus points vs. Rice on Jan. 1.
