The sweep was Baylor s first sweep over a ranked opponent since Aug. 31, 2012, upsetting No. 25 California, and its first sweep over a ranked Big 12 opponent since Sep. 23, Katie Staiger became the third player in BU program history to hit 23 or more kills in a three set match, joining Elisha Polk and Stevie Nicholas for the distinction. Staiger is the second to achieve the feat in the rally scoring era and the first since Nicholas dropped 26 in Highlights in 3-1 win at SFA (Sept. 21) Morgan Reed (48 assists, 11 digs) and Aniah Philo (13 kills, 17 digs) both posted double-doubles for the second straight game. The Bears outblocked SFA, Alex Banister doubled her previous career-high dig mark, picking up 20 digs. Highlights in 3-1 win over North Texas (Sept. 20) Katie Staiger added nine of her 17 kills in the fourth set, pushing BU to the win. All Baylor players saw playing time in the match for the first time this season, with all 14 active players making an appearance. McGuyre has coached at the collegiate level for both men and women since 1999 including head-coaching stints at California Baptist and Biola University, both of which are faith-based institutions. McGuyre and the Seminoles finished an NCAA Tournament run reaching the quarterfinals before a loss to national runner up BYU, Dec. 13. The Seminoles finished 30-3 in 2014, and in his first season at FSU in 2013, the Seminoles posted a 26-8 record and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. Prior to his arrival at Florida State, McGuyre was an assistant at Maryland for one season following a 10-year-head-coaching stint at NAIA CBU from There, he was the head coach for both the men s and women s programs where he crafted a men s program that won six NAIA national championships and three women s national titles. Among many accolades at CBU, McGuyre was named both the AVCA NAIA Men s National Coach of the Year and the NAIA Women s National Coach of the Year during his tenure. He also served as a volunteer assistant for the USA men s volleyball team in His men s team at CBU knocked off NCAA Division I programs USC, UCLA, Stanford, Pepperdine, Long Beach State, UC-Santa Barbara, Penn State, UC Irvine and Hawaii. Before his successful stop at CBU, he spent three years as head coach at Biola University from in Los Angeles where he tallied 60 wins in three seasons for the women s program. All in all, between men s and women s programs, McGuyre has 542 wins as a collegiate head coach, he s coached 18 NAIA All-Americans and saw five Seminoles earn AVCA All-American honors the past two seasons at Florida State. A 1998 graduate of Biola University, McGuyre earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in social science with an emphasis in secondary education and a minor in biblical studies.
