Report the result in this order: The NIGHT, the LEAGUE, your TEAM NAME & NUMBER, the NAME of the team you beat and their NUMBER, and whether it was 2-0 or 2-1 or forfeited match. Please check your court for sharp objects and debris prior to starting match. At your first match, please select a team captain. Your team captain will responsible for contacting the rest of the team if there are schedule changes. The team captain will have their phone number added to the schedule so that teams will have a contact person to call if they need to cancel or reschedule games. Once you have selected a team captain, call the Beach Volleyball Scoreline ( ) and leave a message stating who the captain will be.

Ph: The following rules will be strictly enforced for playoff reasons during the Beach Volleyball season. Teams found in violation of any of these rules will be immediately withdrawn from playoff action or placed in a non-prize division. 1. Rosters can be faxed to or ed to sportsleagues@kelowna.ca 2. Only players on the roster are eligible for playoffs. 3. All players on the roster must have played a minimum of 3 league games 4. See schedule for roster due date. 5. Maximum 10 players per team roster. 6. No roster changes after submission date (see schedule). There will be No Exceptions to the above rules.

4 OBJECT OF THE GAME BEACH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE R U L E S To cause the ball to strike the ground on the opponents court or to cause an opponent to engage in faulty playing. PLAYERS Six (6) players per team (minimum of 3 males and 2 females or 2 males and 3 females to start match). Substitution takes the server's place when he or she is to rotate to centre back position. All Triples leagues require three (3) players per team (minimum 1 female). Player Pick-up Rule: Teams may pick up a player from another team to reach the minimum number of players (5) only. When their regular player arrives, he / she will take the place of the picked up player and the team will continue to play with 5 players. This rule is for league play only as there is no pick-up players allowed in the playoffs. RULES 1. Three hits per side. 2. Games go to 25 points using the rally point scoring system. (A two point advantage is needed to win). 3. Best 2 out of 3 games win the match. 4. If the ball hits any part of the line, it is considered in and good. 5. If a game is unfinished, the team that is ahead by 2 or more points when time expires is declared the winner of that game. 6. The ball can hit the net on the serve and go over and is still good if it lands in. 7. Court size is 9m x 9m on each side of net. FOULS AND ERRORS The penalty for a foul is a point scored for the opponents or the loss of serve. 1. More than 3 hits on one side. 2. A player touching the net. 3. A double hit (only one consecutive hit per person). 4. Contacting the ball on the opponents' side of the net. (N.B. A follow-through on a spike that started on the right side of the net is not considered a foul, nor is reaching over to block on their third hit). 6. Server hits the ball out of bounds or into the net. 7. Ball hits the ceiling, floor, or back wall (read tree, fence, sun bather). REPLAY 1. If the ball hits an object that is hanging down. 2. There is interference (e.g. ball on court). 3. Double Foul. 4. Injury to a player. "IN" AND "OUT" The line is considered the whole "trough" or "V" when dug into the sand. If any part of the ball touches the "trough" or "V" it is considered in. NO SHOW This means that less than 5 players on the team are available to play 10 minutes after scheduled start time and results in a win for the attending team. (Two men and three women, or three men and two women). TIME Matches are limited to one hour from scheduled start time.

5 CANCELLATIONS If your team needs to cancel or reschedule, you must contact the opposing team no later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled game time. Team captains can decide on when to replay the match. Gyro & City Park courts are available anytime Friday, Saturday, or Sundays only. Report any schedule changes immediately to the Score / Info Line ( ). Rain Outs If it is raining or you suspect it is raining at the match site, your team must show up to the game. Do not assume the game is cancelled. Once at the court (and after a 15 minute rain delay has expired) both teams can decide to reschedule the match if it is unplayable at that time. Pick a day you would like to reschedule the game for and contact the league coordinator at to book a court. Also call the score line to let the league coordinator know the game has been rescheduled POINT SYSTEM 2 points for winning the match 1 point for a 2 games to 1 loss 0 points for a 2 games to 0 loss 0 points for a forfeit loss. 1 point for correctly reporting result (Ex. Team "A" beat Team "B" 2 games to 1 and Team "A" reported the score to the Score / Info Line on time and correctly. Team "A" receives 3 points and Team "B" receives 1 point) In order to ensure your team is credited for your league game, the winning team must contact the Beach Volleyball Score Line, , within 48 hours of the scheduled game time. Please report your last match of the season as soon as possible after the game so that the playoff schedule can be completed by the schedule availability date. ROSTER All players must have played in at least 3 games with the team in order to play in the playoffs and finals. All teams must hand in a roster by due date in order to play in the playoffs. Roster Form must be dropped off or faxed to the Parkinson Recreation Centre at PARTICIPANTS ARE ASKED TO USE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, COURTESY, AND PATIENCE WHERE IT APPLIES TO A DISPUTE ARISING FROM ERRORS AND FOULS. FORFEITS A team forfeiting 3 or more league matches will not qualify for playoffs.
