All participants receive a t-shirt. Co-Ed Basketball Shooting Camp - Grades 5-12 All shooting, all the time! The fundamentals of shooting are taught, including ball position, release, and footwork. All participants receive a t-shirt. Co-Ed Cheerleading Camp - Grades 1-12 Cheerleaders in grades 1-5 learn basic skills including dance steps, jumps, and motion techniques in preparation of putting on a performance at the end of the week. Participants receive a t-shirt. Co-Ed Rugby Camp - Grades 4-12 Participants work on technique and skills development in this non-contact camp. A mouthguard is required. Co-Ed Track & Field Camp - Grades K-8 This 2 week camp is designed to teach young athletes several events in the sport of track and field. On the camps final day participants will compete in a track meet to try and compete for personal bests. Co-Ed Volleyball Camp - Grades 5-8 Learn the basics of the game of volleyball, including ball control and offensive and defensive drills during these skill specific clinics.

Mini games or competitions will occur each day. Girls Basketball Camp - Grades 4-12 FUNdamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, and rebounding are emphasized through a variety of drills and competitive game situations for grades 4-8. Grades 9-12 focus on learning the Hilltoppers team offense and defense. All participants receive a t-shirt. Girls Cross Country Camp - Grades 6-12 Middle School runners (incoming grades 6-8) are introduced to the fundamentals of training and preparation for the upcoming season. Girls will have the opportunity to run with experienced high school runners and are instructed by Glenbard West Girls Cross Country and Track head coaches. Campers also work on running form, injury prevention and weight training. High School runners (incoming runners grades 9-12) are also also introduced to the fundamentals of training, while more experienced runners are provided a solid base for the upcoming season. Camp meets four days per week (Wednesdays are off-days). All participants receive a t-shirt. Girls Dance Camp - Grades 1-5 & 9-12 Grades 1-5: Come dance with the Glenbard West Dance Team! The dance team will be hosting a summer kid camp for young dancers who are interested in learning dance technique, gaining confidence, building friendships, and enhancing creativity. At the end of camp there will be a performance with the Glenbard West Dance Team to showcase their new skills and routine. Grades 9-12: The Glenbard West Dance Team (Varsity and JV) will be holding practices during the summer to prepare for their upcoming season in the fall and winter. Practices will include team bonding, refining technique, building endurance, and learning new choreography for the upcoming season.
3 GIRLS CAMP DESCRIPTIONS - Continued Girls Field Hockey Camp - Grades 1-12 All girls are welcome to become involved in one of our newest sports at Glenbard West. The camp teaches the fundamentals of field hockey to beginners and continues to develop skills and game play for returning players. All players are required to provide their own mouth and shin guards. All participants receive a t-shirt. Girls Golf Camp - Grades 9-12 Calling all female golfers entering grades 9-12! Come out to Village Links Golf Course. We will have fundamental lessons for the beginner golfers and competitions for the returning high school players. Fundamental lessons will include work on the swing, pitching, chipping and putting. The competitions will consist of match play, scramble, alternate shot, modified stableford, chapman, and bingo bango bongo. Golf course fees are included in the price. Girls Lacrosse Camp - Grades 3-12 Lacrosse Camp provides new players the opportunity to learn stick skills, positioning, rules of the game and basic strategy. Returning players are challenged through drills and game situations, combined with advanced game strategy. All players are required to provide their own mouth guard. Equipment is available for loan to new players. Girls Soccer Camp - Grades 6-12 This camp provides a safe and supportive environment in which the participants can learn and enjoy the game of soccer. Skills and fundamentals are taught in preparation for the upcoming season. Games and scrimmages are a part of the daily routine All skill levels are welcome to attend this fun-filled camp! Girls Softball Camp - Grades 2-9 Utilizing a variety of drills, including throwing, catching, footwork, base running, and hitting, players improve their fundamental mechanics, and position specific softball skills. This camp emphasizes the importance of the basics to develop advanced skills and techniques. Girls Volleyball Camp - Grades 5-12 Grades 5-6 learn the basics of the game of volleyball. Ball control and offensive and defensive drills are added for Grades 7-8, along with an end of session tournament. Incoming freshmen work on volleyball fundamentals and Glenbard West volleyball terminology, while grades prepare for the summer league. All participants receive a t-shirt.

5 BOYS CAMP DESCRIPTIONS Boys Badminton Camp - Grades 5-12 Emphasis is on skill development, technical drills and team building. Mini games or competitions will occur each day. Boys Baseball Camp - Grades 2-12 Camps for Grades 2-7 focus on the fundamentals and mechanics of the game. Campers run the latest drills for hitting, pitching, throwing, fielding and base-running. Participants are evaluated in speed, arm strength, accuracy and compete in several events concluding with actual game play. Participants in Grades 8-9 camp have the opportunity to develop and improve their baseball skills while interacting with their future teammates! Participants must bring their own glove, bat, and drink to camp. All participants receive a t-shirt. Rain make up day is Friday Boys Basketball Camp - Grades 4-12 For grades 4-6, the fundamentals of passing, shooting, ball handling, and rebounding are emphasized through a variety drills and competitive game situations. In addition, an introduction to offensive and defensive concepts is added for grades 7-8 Grades 9-12 focus on offensive and defensive drills along with techniques used during the regular season. Boys Running/Cross Country Camp - Grades 1-5 Camp participants will experience many different activities including form running, speed development, fitness, and games to enhance endurance while having fun. This camp is at the kid s level while working parallel with our high school cross country team. Running camp can prepare kids for a variety of sports and increase their healthy activity in the summer! Boys Cross Country Camp - Grades 6-12 Prepare for the cross country season with a running program consisting of form development, flexibility exercises, interval training, pace skills, hill work, and weight training. This camp will provide a runner with the base mileage and skills necessary to have a successful cross country season while having fun as part of the team. Boys Field Hockey Camp - Grades 1-6 The camp teaches the fundamentals of field hockey to beginners and continues to develop skills and game play for returning players. All players are required to provide their own mouth and shin guards. All participants receive a t-shirt. Boys Football Camp - Grades 6-12 For grades 6-9, athletes get a feel for the skills, drills, and techniques necessary to play high school football. Players should wear athletic shorts, shirt, and gym shoes, as well as bring cleats and a water bottle. Sophomore and varsity players in grades are taught the skill progressions for every position while implementing the base offense and defense for the upcoming season. Players must bring a 3-ring binder, gym shoes, cleats, and a water bottle each day. Boys Golf Camp - Grades 7-12 Grades 7-9: Players work on the fundamentals of golf and play two rounds. Day one is spent on the practice range and practice green. The nine hole course is played on day two and three. The fee includes a golf shirt and a sleeve of balls. Participants must supply and carry their own clubs and be able to walk nine holes. Grades 10-12: Open to all boys entering 10th-12th grade at Glenbard West High School in the fall of A five week camp that will focus on putting and short game improvement on the Village Links practice green. Participants will also use the driving range to work on driving and iron play. Boys Gymnastics Camp - Grades 9-12 Camp focus is on the fundamentals and mechanics of gymnastics with gymnasts working towards skill development and proper routine construction. Boys Lacrosse Camp - Grades 7-12 The focus of this camp is to help prepare athletes to have a successful experience as a high school lacrosse player. We will introduce and refine the skills each player needs to be successful in our program as well as the team concepts we expect all of our players to know. Practice time will be split between skill development and skill implementation at the team level. Players should have a stick, helmet, gloves, arm guards and shoulder pads. Boys Soccer Camp - Grades 6-12 Prepare for the upcoming season with skills, drills, and games during this fun-filled camp. Boys Speed & Strength Camp - Grade 9 Through supervised workouts, participants learn principles, techniques and drills to become the fastest, strongest, and most powerful athlete you can be for any sport! Open to all freshman athletes. Both sessions are encouraged for maximum benefit. Boys Track & Field Camp - Grades 6-12 This two week camp is for track athletes who are new to track or those that are working to improve their personal bests in sprints, jumps or throws. Event specific coaching will take place in high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and pole vault. Sprint training will also be incorporated into the camp. Boys Volleyball Camp - Grades 4-12 Grades 4-8 learn the basics of the game of volleyball, including ball control and offensive and defensive drills, along with an end of session tournament. Grades prepare for the summer league. All participants receive a t-shirt.
6 BOYS CAMP DESCRIPTIONS - Continued Boys Wrestling Camp - Grades 9-12 Grades 9-12 gain mat experience while wrestling practice matches against area high school competition, combined with individualized instruction. REGISTRATION Registration for the Glenbard West Summer Camps is taken through the Glen Ellyn Park District. You may register on-line at beginning March 17th at 10:00pm, or in person at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center or Main Street Recreation Center during regular business hours. There are no additional fees for Non-Residents as long as your child attends a school that feeds into Glenbard District 87. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. If you are a Glen Ellyn resident who resides within the Glen Ellyn Park District s boundaries, a Scholarship Form is available at the Park District s Spring Avenue Recreation Center. If you reside outside of the Glen Ellyn Park District s boundaries, and your child attends a school that feeds into Glenbard District 87, you may request a Fee Waiver through the Glenbard West Athletic Director s Office.
