After unloading, we request that buses park off school property, if possible, to make room for equipment vehicles and spectators. If buses need to park at the school, please enter the North Entrance and request parking instructions from the attendant at the equipment vehicles lot. 1
Guard Carpool & Staff Parking: All Guard units will park vehicles and equipment trucks in the Teachers Lot near the Main Entrance. Proceed to the main entrance for unit check-in. Percussion & Equipment Vehicles Parking: All equipment vehicles will park on the North Entrance side. A parking attendant will direct you to your parking area. Equipment parking will be limited, so please park vehicles in the Teachers Lot near the Main Entrance. Please note that most doorways into the school cannot accommodate wide instruments or equipment. There is a wide doorway near the band room where props will be stored. This entrance is accessible from parking lots on either side of the school. Spectator Parking: Spectator parking for Guard performances will be in the Tennis Court lot at the North Entrance. The nearest school entrance is located on the West side of the school a short distance behind the tennis courts. Proceed to the main entrance for ticket purchase and entrance to the performance area. Spectator parking for Percussion performances will be on the Main Entrance side of the school. If overflow parking is needed, spectators may park on the residential streets north of the school. Spectators will enter the school at the Main Entrance. Unit Check-In: Buses will drop off performers at the main entrance. Unit Check-In will be inside the main entrance near the school office. Performers will receive a hand stamp to allow them to enter the school at any designated entrance. At Check-In, each unit has the option of purchasing up to 5 additional wristbands at the discounted rate of $5 each. Any person not wearing a wristband will be directed to the ticket table to purchase one. This rule will be strictly enforced. Each unit will be assigned a hallway location away from the gym entrances. Performers are asked to change in the restrooms nearest to their assigned area. The restrooms near the gym entrance are reserved for spectators. Please note that hallway areas are unsecured and participants leaving items in hallways do so at their own risk. 2
Prop Storage: Props will be stored in the Band hallway which is adjacent to the outdoor performance entrance and exit. This doorway can accommodate wide items. There will be signs indicating the prop storage side of the hallway. Please store props in a neat and orderly fashion to minimize congestion in this area. Percussion Storage: We do not supply an area for percussion equipment storage. Equipment and instruments should be stored in your equipment truck. Admission: Wristbands will be sold near the spectator entrance to the gym. Adults (age 18-59) $10 Seniors (age 60+ ) $ 7 Youth (age 6-17 ) $ 7 Children (age 0-5) Free Concessions: Snacks and meals will be available for purchase throughout the day. Concession items will include: large hotdogs ($3), small hotdogs ($2), pizza ($3), muffins ($1), donuts ($1), candy bars ($1), popcorn ($1), soda or water ($1.50), and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate ($1). In addition to concessions, we will have Ochoa s Mexican Food in an outdoor booth adjacent to the main entrance. Our food vendor will serve cooked to order food from 11 am to 7 pm. Schedule & Awards: The order of performance is determined by NWAPA and will be posted on their website prior to the contest. A final schedule will be included in your unit packet. The first performance is scheduled for a 9:15AM start. Guard and Percussion final awards will be presented in separate ceremonies. Performers will assemble in the small gym and full retreat format will be utilized. 3
Show Music & Sound Checks: Show music submitted to NWAPA is kept on file and will be given to us by the previous show host. If there is an updated version of your music, please your music to NWAPA and Andrew Lekas, the Glencoe Show Coordinator, by Thursday, March 14 th. We strongly advise each unit to carry an electronic copy of their music on a USB memory device as a back-up. We will allow as many sound checks as possible in the half hour before preliminary competition begins and during breaks. Please be aware that time is limited and our top priority is to keep the show on schedule. Guard Warm-Up: Guard units will have scheduled warm-up time in the cafeteria (A/B). We will provide stereo equipment for warm-up. Please be courteous about your music volume if another group is in an adjacent warm-up area. Spinning is not permitted in hallway areas. Percussion Warm-Up: Percussionists are asked to warm up outside, if possible. There are large outdoor areas in front of the cafeteria (behind the school) and near the main entrance. There is a wide covered walkway between the school and the cafeteria. The indoor warm-up areas for percussion units are located in the cafeteria (A/B). If you prefer to have an indoor area, please contact the Glencoe Show Coordinator before the contest. The cafeteria has a doorway with a removable post along the back wall. There is either a sidewalk or paved access around the school to get to/from the warm-up areas, the performance entrance, and the equipment trucks. Show Flow: Performers will enter and exit the gym from outside the school on the side that faces Glencoe Road. Guard units will leave the indoor warm-up area, proceed to prop storage in the band hallway, then exit the school and wait at the performance entrance. Percussion units will not be able to move large equipment through the school. There will be a large covered area for percussion units to dry off their equipment, if necessary, before entering the gym. Our show will have a one-way counterclockwise flow. There will be Glencoe volunteers directing traffic at the performance area doors. The timing line is vertical and floors are unfolded left to right. After performing, units will proceed to the wrestling room for indoor floor folding and exit the gym after the next performance. Please fold your floor immediately upon entering to the wrestling room, so we can maintain the flow through the entrance area. As an alternative, units may exit the gym after their performance and fold their floor on the tennis courts. 4
Video Recording: Personal videotaping is permitted, however, please be courteous to the spectators seated around you. Spectators are not allowed on the gym floor at any time during performances. Photographer: We will have a photographer (Reflections by Brian) in the small gym to take group photos after your preliminary performance. Please assemble your performers for a group photo as soon as possible after your performance. You will be able to view and purchase 5x8 photos on site or order them on-line after the event. Tobacco & Alcohol: The presence or use of tobacco or alcohol is strictly prohibited on Glencoe High School property. This restriction applies to the entire campus including all outdoor areas and vehicles. 5
