1 Monthly NSU Newsletter z November 2018 The Center Circle The Center Circle sends you and your family warm holiday wishes! Center Circle: Joe Hammes Director of Coaching Our teams wrapped up another excellent season of play highlighted by the U18 Girls Blue 6 th straight State Championship, the U17 Girls Blue 2 nd straight State Championship, and the first President s Cup Championship won by the U17/18 Girls White. Teams are now transitioning to the winter season where we will keep teams busy with training, futsal leagues, indoor leagues, and college showcase tournaments. Our U11-U16 Boys and Girls Blue teams and a few of our HS Blue Teams will be playing in the Futsal Super League at St. Augustine Academy in January and February. Our U11-U14 Boys and Girls White teams will be playing in the Wisconsin Lutheran College futsal league, which begins play in December. Some of our HS Boys and Girls White teams will be playing indoor sessions at Uihlein Soccer Park in session 2. All teams will be active training throughout the winter, as we have secured training space at the Ozaukee Co Fairgrounds, Cedarburg HS field house and vintage gym, and Grafton HS. In addition, as long as we don t have snow, many of our teams will remain outside training on the turf field at PWSB Soccer Park. I recently attended the WYSA Director of Coaches Meeting where several topics were discussed. 2 Center Circle: Roni Andrew Director of Recreational Soccer Season is a wrap! I was able to see almost every team play and several training sessions as well. I have communicated recaps with hope for feedback and waiting for replies. With the meeting delay, we should have some feed back for next report. Our off-season will include ideas for spring session - marketing our program to the community in hopes of more participation. I will be keeping eyes open for grassroots coaching opportunities to offer our NSU coaches as well as a possible "Rec Night" session at the indoor complex. Mini Micros dates for the winter session are set -- 6 weeks in Jan/Feb with a morning and an afternoon session. Keep a look out for our flyer--what a great holiday gift to give this season! Center Circle: Shannon Smyth Technical Director 11U-14U All of our u11-14 teams have wrapped up a busy fall season and notably our u14/15 Girls White won their State League Division--congrats to Coach Michael and the girls! Our coaches are now connecting with families for player evaluations. The process of practicing self-reflection for our players and setting time aside from the field with our families is something we really value as a club for our players to continue to have ownership in their development path. For now, players have a break until December when winter indoor training ramps up and futsal leagues start shortly after. TOPSoccer at Uihlein is going very well! We just set the date for the 3rd Annual Border Battle with Chicago TOPSoccer on March 23 at Uihlein. It's an awesome opportunity to link with Illinois to make it a big event for our TOPS players. It will be 12-2pm with skills stations; a game and all players will receive a shirt and medal. Enjoy Thanksgiving with your families! Shannon TOPSoccer The winter program information is now out. Please copy and paste the link below to read more on the program. The program is free and will be held indoor at Uihlein Soccer Park, field #3 Dates of classes: 11/10. 11/17, 12/1, 12/15 Class times: 12pm-1pm, for kids 4-11 years old 1pm-2pm, for kids years old Interested in being a TOPS volunteer, contact Shannon Smyth at shannons@northshoreunited.org or COPY AND PASTE LINK BELOW FOR MORE INFO: 2
3 Center Circle: Sinisa Angelovski NSU Technical Director SAVE THE DATE Behind us is very successful State cup and MRL season! State cup: We had 2 State cup winners, 1 finalist and 1 semifinalist, which is the best result in the club history! Our U17 and U18 girls won the State cup! U17 s won their 2nd State cup in a row and U18 girls won their record 6th State cup! Both teams will represent WI at Regionals next June in Saginaw Michigan. Our u15 girls were State cup finalist. They lost final match 2-0 against very good Waukesha team. U16 girls were semifinalist for the first time and also lost 2-0 to very good Waukesha team (State cup winner) in semifinal. U19 girls finished 2nd in there group and were very close to advance to semifinal. The Soccer Soiree is our annual fundraiser. Please save the date and join us for a great night of visiting with soccer friends, fabulous food, plentiful drinks and an amazing array of items available in the raffle, silent auction and live auction! On the top of that our u17/18 white team won Presidents cup and will represent WI next June in Kansas City. Congrats to entire stuff! MRL: Our u16, u17 and u18 girls just finished their MRL season. U15 girls are currently in the middle of the table with 1 game left to be played. They should stay in Premier 2 MRL next year. U16 girls secure their spot in Premier 2 MRL for next year. They were missing few key players in last 3 games due to injuries so they ended 3 points short of Premier 1 MRL promotion. U17 and U18 girls won Premier 1 MRL division for the 1st time in the club history! Both teams went undefeated with 8 wins and 1 tie. With 1st place in Premier 1 MRL U17 girls have secured their spot in National league for 2019/20 season. We are the only club in the region with 2 Premier 1 MRL winners this fall! U19 girls finished 1st division MRL in a 5th place. These results definitely put our club as currently one of the top clubs in the State and one of the best in the Region at girls HS age! Congrats to all the stuff once again! Tournaments: Our U16 and U18/19 boys will be attending CASL boys showcase November It is one of the top boys events in the country. U17 and U18 girls will be competing in National league Nov 29th-Dec 3rd. First weekend of National league also takes place in Raleigh NC. U16 girls will be at the same time in Raleigh, but they will be part of CASL showcase event. 2nd weekend of National league takes place in Bradenton FL Jan 18th-21st. 17U Girls Blue clinched National League and MRL Premier 1 Championship The U18 Girls Blue team clinched the National League - Midwest Conference Premier 1 Championship with a 4-1 win.
