1 GORDONBROCK WEEKLY FRIDAY 29 TH JUNE 2018 Online Parents Evening slots booking deadline 4th July 4.00pm Frenc rning In our French lessons in year 3 we have been learning all about food. We looked at a recipe for a traditional French breakfast dish called "le pain perdu" (French toast) and some of the year 3 children had a go at making the recipe themselves at home. Priyanka from E3 said "I really liked making the French toast. It was brilliant and so yummy - delicieux!". Here are the delicious looking results! Madame Gilmore Have a go at making "le pain perdu", here is the recipe:
2 P R G S O TI N NE WS: HO CK E Y Hockey Tournament 18 th June 2018 It was a beautiful day as we set off on the train towards the Hockey Tournament. When we arrived we found out that there were 2 other schools that we needed to beat for victory! The girls chattered both nervously and excitedly as they were split into two formidable teams - Gordonbrock A and Gordonbrock B. We were off to a good start with our first match against Rathfern which we won 1-0. We had fantastic attacking play and lots of shots at goal. Marricci sprinted up the pitch from our half to score the winning goal to great cheers and celebrations! We almost lost the lead with a penalty given against us, but Diana stepped in to save the day with some excellent goal-keeping! It was then Gordonbrock B s turn to play with a tough match against Baring school. One of their players were absolutely amazing! We tried our best to fight for the ball and managed a great goal from Tyana but unfortunately Baring won the match 5-1. Team A acted as great cheerleaders to keep spirits up and we rallied ourselves for the next challenge. Our 3rd match was Gordonbrock A vs Gordonbrock B. Jason gave a rousing speech to the girls and they set off with great competitive spirit. It was a close match with lots of opportunities at goal and some excellent defending. Amelia scored 2 goals for Gordonbrock B and there was some fierce defending from Ruby and Maya. However, great teamwork and some especially accurate passing between Marricci, Mia and Marlee led to the Gordonbrock A team winning 3-2. Our next 2 matches seemed to fly by. Gordonbrock A vs Baring saw another penalty against us missed as well as some fabulous dribbling from Preethia as she was subbed on. The team had really got themselves into formation this time and a combination of strong defence and attacking play led to a victory of 5-0. We were into the final! Gordonbrock B had their final match against Rathfern which put them into 3rd place in the table. Gordonbrock A were now ready for their final match. We had to play Baring again! Mia took her defensive role extremely seriously and marked their best attacking player for the whole match. Sharuniya played solidly, making great tackles and excellent passes. The girls communicated extremely well and Olivia and Marricci in striking position were hard to stop! The final score was 2-1 to Gordonbrock earning us first place and a trophy that we can proudly display! A huge well done to all of the girls: Mia, Marricci, Alyssa, Sharuniya, Tyana, Olivia, Preethia, Sara, Faith, Ruby Rai, Marley, Ruby Ro, Diana, Maya and Amelia. What a fantastic day! Miss Randall
