Squash SQU 3.4 N/A Squash SQU N/A SQU 3.4 Competition Format: The competition format should be the same across the whole league. Which format is used must be a majority decision between all teams in that league, choosing round robin tournaments, or weekly fixtures. If a majority decision cannot be reached fixtures will be weekly, as scheduled by the BUCS office. Institutions may request to add a player to the bottom of the ranking list when ranking windows are not open. Requests must be submitted and approved by the BUCS office in advance of any fixtures being played by the non-ranked player. This is to encourage the fulfilment of fixtures and must not be manipulated. Teams found to be attempting to manipulate the rankings using this regulation will face disciplinary action under REG 17. To enable round robins. This will allow fixtures to take place where teams cannot field their normal team(s) due to injury/academic commitment, by inviting new players to join during season, rather than having to concede walkovers. Squash SQU 3.8 (Previously SQU 3.7) In knockout rounds, Women s teams will consist of 4 players. Men s team shall be 5 players in the Championship and Trophy, generally be 5 players in the Conference Cup, unless one or both teams involved in match are from Tier Three or below, then 3 players (unless both teams agree to play with 5 players). In knockout rounds, Women s teams will consist of 5 players in the Championship and 4 players in the Trophy and Conference Cups. Men s teams will consist of 5 players in the Championships and Trophy. Men s teams will generally be 5 players in the Conference Cup, unless one or both teams involved in a match are from Tier Three or below, then 3 players (unless both teams agree to play with 5 players). Clarification regarding number of players required in knockout matches Women s Championship increased to 5. Squash SQU 6.3 N/A A BUCS Score Card must be used by all teams. This score card must be completed by each team and retained by the AU until the end of the BUCS season, as per REG 7.5. Team sheets are not required in addition to score cards. To promote and stimulate the sport by allowing all students and coaches to check who has played who and monitor scores which, in the long term, would lead to a ranking system per division that would help with forming the rankings for national tournaments.

SWI 5.4 Team Selection Swimming SWI 5.4 SWI 5.4 Where an institution enters a 2nd or 3rd team they should note BUCS Eligibility Regulations and in particular BUCS General REG 6. SWI Where an institution has entered more than 1 team, the first team should always be the strongest team available to represent that institution. SWI Between the Qualifying Rounds and the Finals, swimmers are permitted to move up to a higher ranked team but no swimmers are permitted to move down to a lower ranked team. For example, if a swimmer has competed for the first team in the Qualifying Rounds on day 1, they will not be eligible for the second team at the Finals on day 2 of the Championships. Clarification on how player movement operates as this doesn t fit very well with the current league player movement regulations. SWI 6.4 Withdrawals and No Shows Swimming SWI 6.4 SWI 6.4 Fines Teams withdrawing two weeks or less before the start of the Championships will be fined 300. Any team who does not attend the Regional Qualifying Round without prior notice will be automatically relegated and fined 500. Teams withdrawing after the Regional Qualifying Round will be fined 500. SWI Teams withdrawing 2 weeks or less before the Championships will be fined 300 and automatically relegated by 1 division for the following season. SWI Any team who does not attend the Championships without prior notice will be fined 500 and automatically relegated by one division for the following season. SWI No shows or unauthorised withdrawals for the Finals event on day 2, will be fined 750 and automatically relegated by 1 division for the following season. Clarification on withdrawals and no shows fines after the change of format to a single weekend event. Table Tennis Table Tennis TAB TAB Men's team will consists of 4 players The order of play shall be: 1v2 2v1 Doubles: 1v1 2v2 The doubles pairing can be 1 and 2 and/or The men s teams will consist of four players. A team may compete with three players, conceding any un-played games. The order of play shall be: 1 v 2 2 v 1 Doubles 1 v 1 2 v 2 The doubles pairing can be 1 and 2 and/or any This allows more fixtures to take place rather than teams having to concede a walkover when only three players are available. Correction of contradictory regulation.

Tennis TEN any other 2 players and need not be declared until after the 4th singles match. TEN Teams only using 3 players must notify their opposition of this a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Failure to notify the opposition will result in the forfeiture of the fourth rubber. Tennis TEN N/A other 2 players and need not be declared until the doubles match begins. TEN Teams only using 3 players must notify their opposition of this before the away team leaves. Failure to notify the opposition will result in the forfeiture of the whole fixture. TEN For Trophy knockout competitions each team shall consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of six players. Up to four players shall play one singles rubber each and the fifth and/or sixth players may be selected for doubles only. Teams failing to field three players must concede a walkover. Teams fielding three or four players will concede the rubbers they are unable to fulfil. Please note that teams must comply with REG 6.9 if fielding only three players. In all other knockout competitions the minimum number of players in a team will be as per the equivalent league. They are already conceding the fourth rubber due to TEN Also changed deadline as many teams won t know their final team until they are leaving for a fixture. Clarification on how many players if a team from North/ South B and Tier 1 meet in a knockout. Tennis TEN 6.4 The bona fide rank order shall be determined by each team with the best singles player ranked as one and second as two and so on. This is at the discretion of each team captain and must be ranked within the spirit of the BUCS Tennis programme. Teams deliberately ranking out of order will be referred to a disciplinary hearing. Please note teams playing players out of order in accordance with ATP, WTA or LTA ratings may be requested to justify their ranking lists by the BUCS Office. The order on the ranking list shall be determined by each institution with the best singles player ranked as one and second as two and so on. The order is at the discretion of each institution. It does not need to be in accordance with ATP, WTA or LTA ratings but institutions ranking players out of ratings order may be requested to justify their ranking lists to the BUCS Office. Failure to justify the rank order or institutions deliberately ranking out of order will be referred to the BUCS office for disciplinary action. The wording was 'woolly' and has made it difficult to make decisions and give discretion. Altered to make this a bit more objective and definitive. Tennis TEN Teams must play in rank order and there can be no movement. Teams must play in rank order. This applies across all teams, e.g. A player ranked number 8 cannot play in the 1st team if the player ranked number 7 is playing in a lower tiered match that day. Clarification.

Tennis TEN TEN Doubles Pairings: Doubles pairings must play with the strongest pair as pair one. The best doubles pair should be decided by the sum of the players team singles rankings in each pair, with the smallest sum playing as the best doubles pair. If two players who have not played the singles compete in the doubles, they are numbered 5 and 6, with the best rated player being put in 5th position. If the sums of the singles players positions are equal (e.g. 1+4 and 2+3), the best doubles pair should include the highest ranked singles player (i.e. 1+4 would be the best doubles pair). Volleyball VOL 2.4 N/A Volleyball REG 9.11 N/A TEN Doubles Pairings: Doubles pairings must play with the strongest pair as pair one. The best doubles pair should be decided by the sum of the players rankings in each pair, with the smallest sum playing as the best doubles pair. Players rankings are as per the published BUCS ranking list. If the sums of the singles players positions are equal (e.g. 1+4 and 2+3), the best doubles pair should include the highest ranked player (i.e. 1+4 would be the best doubles pair). Draws are not permitted in volleyball. Where a fixture does not reach a conclusion, and VOL 2.2 has been complied with and VOL 2.3 does not apply, the fixture should be rearranged, following the procedure in REG REG 9.11 Volleyball: Where teams are tied on points, REG through to REG will be followed. If teams are still tied the following will be applied to separate teams (this will be instead of REG and REG 9.9.7): - Set Difference - Sets scored - Points difference - Points scored Teams should note the requirement to keep score sheets under VOL 5.2 for this purpose. The previous regulation allowed manipulation enabling a highly ranked player to end up playing doubles as the second pairing. E.g. Players in the Club ranking as 1 and 2, go to a fixture and play doubles only. They could then play together as 5 and 6 meaning that they would be paired as the second doubles pair. Clarification following a lot of draws in volleyball in the season. A more appropriate sport specific solution if teams are tied at this level.

WAT The competition format should be the same across the whole league. At Tier 2 and below which format is used must be a majority decision between all teams in that league, choosing round robin tournaments, or weekly fixtures. If a majority decision cannot be reached fixtures will be weekly, as scheduled by the BUCS office. Tier 1 and above must play in a weekly fixture format. WAT All non-premier standalone matches shall be home and away, 4 x 7 mins (2 min break between periods). Clarification as to whether all teams need to agree to format and time.
