All coaches, parents and players are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner and remember the kids come first. 2. All games will end with teams and coaches shaking hands. RULE #1 - THE FIELD OF PLAY The size of the field will be adjusted for this age group. Offense RULE #2 - THE BALL 3-Year-Old Division - Size 3 RULE #3 - THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS 3-Year-Old Division 5 players on a field (see above). RULE #5 - THE REFEREE In soccer all calls are left up to the judgment of the referee and all decisions are final. The referee has the right to stop the game if the coach or crowd becomes unruly. Because the YMCA league is intended to be instructional the referee is an extension of the coach on the field. RULE #6 - DURATION OF GAME/PLAYING TIME The YMCA philosophy provides that all children will play at least a half game and no child will play a full game (if only one substitute is present it may be necessary for some children to play a full game). 3-year-old division - 4 (4) minute quarters. RULE #7 - START OF GAME The ball must be played into the opponent s half of the field.
