Code of Conduct Exclusion of Liability Event Information The VS Gaming Festival will be held at the Monticasino Outdoor event area on the 5 th and 6 th of May Contestants will select to play on one of two platforms at the time of registration. The two platforms are Xbox One and Playstation 4. Contestants will play EA FIFA 18 on their respective platform. 2. Eligibility To enter and take part in the main event and Last Man Standing, all contestants must be South African Citizens and must be over 16 years of age. Contestants who are under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent at all times. Contestants in the main event will be required to present a valid South African ID at sign-in and must keep it on their person at all times. Should a contestant fail to present a South African ID, the contestant will be disqualified from the tournament immediately. Contestants in the Under 16 event must be accompanied by a legal guardian at all times and the legal guardian must have a valid South African ID. Contestants in the main event who compete on Saturday must be available to compete on Sunday if they qualify for the grand final or third place playoff. Should a competitor fail to present themselves at the designated time of the grand final or third place playoff, the contestant will forfeit all prizes. Administration reserves the right to investigate contestant information when eligibility is in question. Players should be prepared to provide a copy of personal identification or other applicable documents to verify that these requirements are met. Participants may be required to provide proof of residency to determine their eligibility. All invited Participants will be required to sign and return a Declaration of Eligibility to Travel, as well as to certify their residency by providing two forms of identification or proof of residency, such as: o Valid Government-Issued Documentation: Identification such as a passport, driver s license, identification card, or work visa with a name and address. o Utility Bill that is no older than three months: Recent invoice from a utility (energy, telephone, or cable) company with a name and address. Employees & conflicts of interest: Employees of Electronic Arts Inc., VS Gaming and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies ( Sponsor and its agents ), FIFA and the immediate family members or persons living in the same household of such employee are not eligible to participate in the Competition. Any rule being broken may lead to disciplinary action. This action will be at the discretion of the Admin(s) involved, and the situation will be taken into account. Punishment may include, but not be limited to, forfeits, disqualification, replays, penalty points, kicks, temporary and permanent bans. There is a limit of One (1) entry per person per Qualifier and any person who qualifies 2

3 for the Final 16 is not eligible to enter another Qualifier. 3. Competition Regulations The final stage (per day per platform) of 16 players will make use of the EA FIFA 18 Ultimate Team mode. All contestants must be familiar with this mode. The group stages (Main event), Last Man Standing & Under 16 event (per day per platform) will make use of the standard FIFA kick-off mode. The Classic XI and World XI teams may not be used. No coaching is allowed during gameplay. No external devices may be plugged into the console except for controllers Players may bring and use their own controllers as long as they don t provide an unfair advantage (i.e. support macros) Players will not be allowed to listen to personal music devices/mp3 players during tournament play If players would like to use a headset to listen to game-audio during the tournament, they may ask for tournament organizer for permission to do so. All videogame consoles and monitors are supplied by Tournament Organizer. Any action designed to disrupt the opposing Player's view of the field or ability to select controlled Players is prohibited. Each Player will have a reasonable amount of time to configure controls, adjust line-ups and settings in accordance with the rules described below in the rules below. Players shall raise their hands at the end of the game so a referee can record their score. Only scores reported to the referee are official. Tactics and Formations o Custom Tactics are allowed o Custom formations are disallowed 4. Schedule Competitors must be present and report to their referee at their gaming station 10 minutes prior to the start of their next match. Should the station be in use, the competitor must wait patiently behind the station without interrupting or disrupting the match that is in progress. Should a competitor fail to report in to their referee or be present at the gaming station at the respective match time, the referee will disqualify the competitor. The tournament director reserves the right to overturn the referees decision. Competitors must register for their respective group before the respective group registrations close. Competitors who have not registered by the cut off time will be disqualified. o 07h00: Player registration opens for all groups o 08h00: Player registration for Group A closes o 08h15: Player registration for Group B closes o 08h30: Player registration for Group C closes o 08h40: Player registration for Group D closes Intentional Disconnects: If a participant intentionally disconnects from the game and is not able to reconnect to the game, then a loss will be given to the participant. It is at the sole discretion of the tournament administrator as to what constitutes an intentional disconnect. Unintentional Disconnects or complete system failure: If a participant unintentionally disconnects from the game and is not able to reconnect to the game, then tournament 3

4 officials will determine if the game state can be restored to a similar point. If the game cannot be restored, then the following process will be followed: o If the disconnect occurs before half time is reached and no goals have been scored, the game will be restarted. o If the disconnect occurs before or after the half time is reached and goals have been scored, the tournament referee will note the amount of goals scored. All gameplay completed before the disconnect will constitute the first half of the match. The referee will instruct the contestants to restart the match. The half played postdisconnect will constitute the second half of the game. o If the disconnect occurs after the 75 th minute, the result be stand as is and the match will be marked as completed. o In the event of a match being drawn, the referee will instruct the players to complete a penalty shootout to determine the winner of the match. o Should the same contestant disconnect twice, the referee will instruct the players to resume play using kick-off mode. All Competitors must be seated at the console must be ready before the scheduled time is reached. The game must begin immediately. Players will have 1 minute to select their football team. Players must use the default kits. Players will have 2 minutes to select their formation and conduct team management and select their reserves. Competitors who are not ready to begin by the scheduled time will be disqualified. After the match has been completed, both Competitors are required to fill in and sign the Match Results Form and hand it back to the referee. Competitors who fail to submit their signed Match Information and Results Form directly after the match will receive a double forfeit or disqualification. Under no circumstances will extensions be allowed. Competitors which the Event Administrator deems to be purposefully unreasonable or intentionally attempting to force a forfeit will, themselves, receive a forfeit. Pauses Game Tactics: Custom tactics allowed Formations: No custom formations Passing: Assisted and unassisted passing is allowed. Competitors have a maximum of two pauses per half, only to be used when they have possession of the ball. Extra Time In Kick-off mode, no extra time is played. Penalties must be selected. Glitches Any attempt to glitch the game in order to gain an advantage is prohibited. Post-Glitch procedure Procedure After a Glitch Penalty: In the event that a tournament administrator determines that was caused by an unauthorized glitch, the tournament administrator will make a decision to return the game to a fair state depending on the result of the play. This includes but is not limited to: Awarding goal(s), disqualification, forfeits and rematches. 6. FIFA Ultimate Team Restrictions Training Restrictions Competitors will not be allowed to use any training items on players 7. Competitor Conduct Abusive behaviour, including harassment and threats is prohibited. Gambling, including betting on the outcome of games, is prohibited. Collusion is defined as any agreement among two or more Players to disadvantage other Players in the competition. Collusion between Players is strictly prohibited. o Examples of collusion include, but are not limited to: Any form of match-fixing. Agreeing to split prize money. Any other behaviour that is detrimental to the tournament, as solely defined by the tournament organizer 8. Major Outages In the event of a major outage the tournament administrator reserves the right to modify any part of the tournament format, including but not limited to changing the game mode and game settings in an effort to ensure the event completes at the scheduled time with competitors in their final finishing positions. For instance: 7

8 Changing from Ultimate Team to Kick off mode. Changing half time from 6 minutes to 4 minutes. Changing game mode to golden goal. Playing one half instead of two. Penalty shootouts The tournament administration reserves the right to amend the schedule at any time to either increase or decrease the tournaments duration. 9. Rule Enforcement and Penalties At the discretion of tournament administration, penalties can be assessed for violations of rules or conduct that violates the spirit of a fair competition. 10. Spirit & Competitive Integrity These guidelines may be modified as necessary at any time to add further clarity, correct errors, or address a situation that is not already contained in the rules as of the first publishing. The goal of any edits will be to ensure a fair tournament through consistent ruling 11. Online Qualifier Placements The following online qualifier tournaments took place prior to the main event. PlayStation 4 Online Qualifier A (128 Players) PlayStation 4 Online Qualifier B (128 Players) PlayStation 4 Online Qualifier C (128 Players) PlayStation 4 Online Qualifier D (128 Players) Xbox One Online Qualifier A (128 Players) Xbox One Online Qualifier B (128 Players) Xbox One Online Qualifier C (128 Players) Xbox One Online Qualifier D (128 Players) The top 8 players from each qualifier, qualified for an online final qualifier. PlayStation 4 Online Qualifier Final (32 Players) Xbox One Online Qualifier Final (32 Players) The top 16 players in the Online Qualifier Final qualified for the main event. Eight of these qualified players will compete on 5 May and eight of these qualified players will compete on 6 May. 12. Seeding Main Event 5 May: 256 players will be placed into four single elimination brackets. These players will first be randomized using before placing them into their respective bracket (A, B, C or D). Each bracket holds 64 players. Determining the 5 & 6 May Online Qualifier Players: Players who qualified in the online qualifiers will be separated into two lists to determine which players play in the Saturday 5 May Finals and which players play in the Sunday 6 May Finals. 8

9 List 1: Players who finished in 1 st place in groups A-H. o These players are randomized using which will order them 1 st to 8 th. o The players ordered 1 st to 4 th will play on Saturday 5 May and are marked as High Seeds. o The players ordered 5 th to 8 th will play on Sunday 6 May and are marked as High Seeds. List 2: Players who finished in 2 nd place in groups A-H. o The players ordered 1 st to 4 th will play on Saturday 5 May and are marked as Low Seeds. o The players ordered 5 th to 8 th will play on Sunday 6 May and are marked as Low Seeds. Last Man Standing The 8 winners at the end of each round will be randomized after their respective round ends. The 8 winners from round 1 will get seed 1-8. All 6 May Low Seed competitors will be added to a single list and then randomized using and each competitor will be ranked according to the order determined by the randomizing software, starting at rank 9 and ending at rank 16. Seeding the Single Elimination Bracket Once all players have a rank ranging from 1 to 16, they will be placed into the single elimination bracket using the standard single elimination seeding process, where the highest seed plays the lowest seed, 2 nd highest seed plays the 2 nd lowest seed and so on. Seeds are placed into the single elimination brackets as follows: 10

11 13. Format Main Event Finals Players will be divided at random into four groups, namely Group A, Group B, Group C and Group D. 2. Each group will begin with 64 competitors and will play to a Single Elimination, best of 1 format. 3. The winner of each match will progress to the next round and the loser of each match will leave the Main event and can optionally take part in the Last Man Standing tournament. 4. Four players per day can win their way back into the main event after being knocked out, by competing in the Last Man Standing tournament and finishing in a qualifying position. 1. The Finals consist of the following competitors: a. 8 Competitors from the online qualifier finals. b. 4 competitors from the main event. c. 4 competitors from the last man standing event. 2. The finals will make use of the FIFA Ultimate Team Online Friendlies mode. a. In the event that players cannot connect to each other, the tournament officials may instruct the players to play the match using Kick-off mode. 3. Players will use EA Accounts with unlocked players. 4. All matches are best of one. 5. The winner will progress to the Grand Final held on Sunday. 6. Second place will progress to the third-place playoff held on Sunday. 11

12 Last Man Standing 1. Last Man Standing makes use of the kick-off mode within FIFA Contestants knocked out in round 1 on each day at the main event tournament will have the optional opportunity to re-join the Finals on the same platforms on which they entered the main event. Players who are disqualified from the main event tournament will not be eligible to compete in the Last Man Standing event. 3. They will play in a Last Man Standing format and those who control the console at the end of each respective round will play in a single elimination tournament to return as one of the heroes on the day. 4. Players who win their matches will continue to play other opponents until they either lose, or the round ends. Rounds end at 10h00, 11h00, 12h00 and 13h Players may not stall for time. If found to be delaying or stalling for time, that player will be disqualified. 6. Matches that are in progress at the end of a round will be played to completion. 7. The last round 4 match can begin no later than 12h40 & all play should be concluded by 13h Players who lose their match will be knocked out of the event. 9. Ties must not go to overtime and must instead go straight through to penalties. 10. At the end of each round 8 players per platform will qualify for the Last Man Standing Finals. A total of 32 players after 4 rounds of play will compete in a single elimination, best of one final event consisting of three rounds. 11. The final 4 players per platform will join the Finals at 15h35 on their platforms respective day. 12. Last Man Standing works on a first come first serve basis. VS Gaming does not guarantee that all players will have the opportunity to compete in the Last Man Standing event. Under 16 Event 1. The under 16 event works on a first come first serve basis and is only open to players under the age of 16 who have a parent or guardian present always. 2. Should a parent or guardian not be present, the competitor will be disqualified. 3. Each player will receive a punch card. When the player wins his/her match, the card will be marked with a win. 4. When the player loses a match, the card will be punched. 5. Once the player has won five or ten games in a row, the player will be awarded with a prize. 6. Prizes will be awarded while stocks last. Once all prizes have been depleted, contestants will be notified, and the event will be closed. 7. After every game, contestants must return to the back of the line. 8. All matches will use Kick-off mode and will have a 4-minute half time. 9. Ties must not go to overtime and must instead go straight through to penalties. 10. Players may not stall for time. Withdrawal of Prize Money If any evidence of fraud or foul play has been discovered or if any infringement of the provisions set out in this Rulebook has been discovered, as long as the prize money for any VS Gaming event has not been paid out, the VS GAMING FESTIVAL EFOOTBALL TOURNAMENT administration reserves the right to cancel any pending payments. Transfer of Prize Money Prize money will be paid via a bank transfer. Failing to provide the required information set out by the VS GAMING FESTIVAL EFOOTBALL TOURNAMENT for payments to be completed will result in your payment not being made. Players who have not attempted to claim their prizes/winnings within one year of the event will have their prizes/winnings forfeited. Players will only be paid for the highest value prize that they win. 15. Recordings, media, publicity and taxes In registering for this tournament, each participant authorises the Organiser and the Promoter to use, publish and display his or her name and likeness and any footage, recordings and/or photographs of him or her recorded or taken during this tournament, or any reproduction or modification thereof, in any manner and medium throughout the world for advertising, trade, promotion, exhibition and any other lawful purpose. 13

14 Any taxes which may be payable as a consequence of a Winner receiving a Prize are the sole responsibility of the Winner. 16. Amendments VS Gaming reserves the right to amend the regulations and terms and conditions at any time and will publish same on our website or make it available to subscribers on request. Emergency rule changes might take place without any notice. Players are expected to keep up to date with the rule set at all times. Rules may be changed at any time without notification to players. All rules found within the VS GAMING FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT Rules and Regulations are inherited by players taking part in the VS GAMING FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT. Failure to abide by the rules set forth in this document may lead to penalties outlined in this document. It should be noted that it is the administration of the VS GAMING FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT that has the last say and that decisions not specifically supported, or detailed within this rulebook, or in extreme cases, decision can be made to preserve fair play and sportsmanship. 17. Tournament Director VS Gaming will provide a tournament director who is solely responsible for ultimate decision-making and adjudication in all circumstances. VS Gaming will provide a Tournament Manager who will oversee all tournament directors. The decision of the tournament director is final. The tournament director may refer disputes to the tribunal officer, who will then advise the tournament director and tournament manager. The Tournament Direct also reserves the right to make judgment calls on cases and/or decisions that are not specifically supported, or detailed within this rulebook, or in extreme cases, decision can be made to preserve fair play and sportsmanship. 18. Dispute lodging and resolution A dispute occurs when one competitor wishes to lodge a complaint about their opponent s actions. Please make sure that you fully understand the rules regarding an incident before lodging a dispute. It is the responsibility of the player to understand and avoid all possible infringements. If you are unsure as to whether your strategy constitutes cheating, please consult an official before your match. All disputes must be lodged privately with their respective referee by noting the dispute on the match result/score sheet. Any team/player who makes a complaint/accusation in public will be penalised and their dispute marked as invalid and void. Where there is a lack of evidence, the tournament officials will notify the player who lodged the dispute that the resolution process has come to an end due to a lack of convincing evidence. It is the player who is submitting the disputes responsibility to provide the officials with all required evidence when lodging the dispute. Evidence cannot be added at a later stage. Where a dispute requires a throughout investigation, the tournament director can instruct the tournament to continue and an investigation will take place after the event has completed. In this case the player who is at found to be at fault will be disqualified. No other corrections will be made to the results of the tournament. Disputes must be raised in a calm, professional and discrete manner. 14

15 Any verbal or physical abuse directed towards any officials at any time by a player or his guardian/parent will result in disqualification of the player and immediate removal of said player from the grounds. Disputes must be raised at the time of the infringement. Disputes which are late for whatever reason will be thrown out. All supporting evidence must be submitted with the original dispute. If a dispute is submitted without sufficient evidence, it will be thrown out. Disputes may only be lodged by the player or his guardian/parent. Disputes may only be lodged against a player s direct opponents. The match must be paused immediately until instructed to un-pause by the admin. Not all disputes can be handled immediately. Disputes will be handled after the match is completed, at the tournament officials discretion. If an investigation threatens to delay the tournament schedule, the tournament director has the authority to make an on the spot ruling with the evidence available at the time of the dispute. 19. Score and Result Sheets After every match the referee will note the scores and results on the score and match result sheet. It is the players responsibility to ensure all information is correctly captured. Competitors must sign the score and result sheet. Competitors may not dispute an incorrectly captured result after the sheet has been signed. 20. General Rules If any part of the VS GAMING FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT Rules are deemed to be invalid or impracticable in whole or in part it shall not affect the validity of the rest of the rules document. Rather than the invalid or impracticable being applied an appropriate provision will be applied that is closest to the intent of what would have been the intention of the rules. Should you find conflicting rules or unclear information, it is your responsibility to contact the VS Gaming for clarification before acting on the rules found within. VS GAMING reserves the right to remove any player from the event. In such a case the player will be disqualified. To play a match, be it online or offline, under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive drugs, even if not among the punishable substances, is strictly prohibited and the player found to be under the influence of one of these substances will be disqualified and removed from the event grounds. Any agreements made between the players that are contradicting to the VS Gaming Event Rulebook are under no circumstances allowed! Competitors cannot refuse to have their matches broadcast by official VS Gaming broadcasters, nor do they have a say in what manner the match will be broadcast. Broadcasts can only be rejected by the VS Gaming. In registering for this tournament, Competitors agree that they will make sufficient accommodation so that broadcasting/streaming of matches can take place. For any match that is broadcast Competitors will be required to do either pre- or post-match interviews. 15

16 21. Disqualification You may be disqualified from the event for any of the following reasons: o Any cheating violation o Any repeat offenses after a formal warning has been issued o Failing to arrive and waiting in the respective line 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time or by delaying a match from progressing. o Breaking the General Conduct Rules. o At the Tournament Directors discretion, with a committee of referee s approval. 22. Code of Conduct All players agree to behave in an appropriate and respectful manner towards other players /admins/staff/spectators/the press/the public. Players/Managers/Teams/Admins/Staff are expected to act professionally and act as role models towards everyone in the Arena. Being role models is the occupational hazard of being a Player or organizer and we should behave accordingly. Harassment of any kind should be reported to the VS GAMING FESTIVAL EFOOTBALL TOURNAMENT immediately. Types of harassment includes but is not limited to the following: o offensive statements or actions related to: Gender Gender identity and expression Age Sexual orientation Disability Physical appearance Body size Race Religion o Also, considered harassment are things such as: Sexual/pornographic images in public spaces/player or team profiles Deliberate intimidation Stalking Following Harassing photography or recording Sustained disruption of talks or other events Inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention The Code of Conduct applies to all participants, administrative staff, event staff and all persons involved with or present at a stage of the VS GAMING FESTIVAL TOURNAMENT. Breaking the Code of Conduct may be punishable, this includes expulsion from the event as well as possible criminal prosecution. Competitors must conduct themselves in a professional manner, maintaining a friendly and polite demeanour to spectators, members of the press, tournament officials, and to other Competitors. Abusive or disorderly behaviour, including any use of harassing, negative, or profane language, will not be tolerated and constitute grounds for immediate disqualification. 16

17 Competitors, whether spectating or otherwise, will not harass or obstruct Competitors in a match in any way. Physical abuse, fighting or any threatening action or threatening language, directed at any player, spectator, official or any other person will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament. Any action that interferes with the normal play of the game, including but not limited to purposely-damaging equipment, interfering with power or deliberate disconnections is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification. Gambling, including betting on the outcome of games is forbidden. Match-fixing is forbidden. Any Competitors found match fixing will immediately be removed from the Do Gaming Championships Disqualification from the tournament will, in all likelihood, result in your removal from the event. While disputes are being handled, contestants must not enter the administration area unless invited. In the event where the tournament supplies apparel to the participants of such tournament, it is required of these Competitors to wear the supplied kit for the duration of the tournament. Competitors shall not wear, carry or bear any items of a commercial, religious or political nature that reflect unfavourably upon the sponsors, officials or promoters of the event. Dress code violations will result in a warning. If the player fails to correct the violation, he/she will be disqualified. Competitors must be available for post-tournament awards ceremonies and interviews. Failing to attend such ceremonies and interviews shall lead to the forfeiture of any right to claim any award that may be granted, or the benefit that may accompany such award. The top 3 Competitors are required to attend the prize giving. Failing to do so without good reason could lead to the forfeiture of prizes won. 23. Exclusion of Liability By registering for this competition each participant assumes sole liability for any personal injury and/or damage to property caused or claimed to have been caused to him or her as a result of or in connection with participating in this competition and/or any Prize. To the extent permitted by law, neither the Organiser nor the Promoter is responsible or liable for: Inaccurate entry information. Entries that are not received for any reason, including because they are lost, misdirected or stolen, or that are received, but are late, illegible, or incomplete. Any problems or technical failures of any kind, including malfunction of any communication network or lines, computer online systems or network, servers or providers, computer equipment, or software. The unavailability or inaccessibility of any service whether or not caused by traffic congestion on the Internet or any website. Unauthorized human intervention in any part of the tournament. Electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the tournament. Any loss, damage or injury suffered or incurred by any participant or any other person as a result of or in connection with participation in the tournament and/or any Prize, howsoever caused. 17

18 Any injury or damage to persons or property, including to the participant s or any other person s computer related to, or resulting from, participation or downloading any materials in connection with the tournament. These Official Rules do not affect, and are not intended to affect, any rights or remedies a consumer might have, which cannot be excluded under applicable consumer protection laws. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any liability of the Organiser and/or the Promoter or their respective servants or agents for breach of any such rights is limited to the payment of the cost of having the Prize supplied again. All competitions run by VS Gaming on the Site are subject to conditions applicable to particular competitions will be specified.
