2 2 TAREN POINT TITANS J.R.L.F.C.INC Page 2 Sim s Messages Woo Hoo.finally..no rain!!!! It was so good to see the boys back on the park this weekend. I hope you all you mums, nans, grandmas etc had a great Mothers Day and kids I hope you were good for mum ALL day. Please read the upcoming events section at the bottom of my messages. For any of those players who are yet to receive their NRL footy passes, the majority of the passes have been handed out, but, in case I have missed anyone, please let me know. I would like to thank Bec Moran for all her efforts in organising some fundraising/social events for The Titans. We are currently looking at holding a mums night out, women in league fundraiser and trivia night. Bec also has organised our new well very well.awaited BBQ!!! And a container that will be coming very shortly, which will house our tackling bags. A HUGE thank you Bec. As you can see Bec has been doing a lot of background work for the Titans..if you would like to give her a hand it s not too late. The sporting pulse website has been updated by Junior League and now we should have each weeks draw and the updated ladders for each team please go to website for any competition info you need But don t forget to keep checking The Titans website for updated info as well Please keep those photos coming through and we ll put them on the website and also in our weekly newsletter (where possible). Just want to mention a couple of incidents that have happened at Gwawley Oval on the past two home games. Some of the players (a very small minority) have been up to no good. The first one was round 2 (from memory), where some of the boys thought it would be a good idea to throw glass beer bottles into the entry to the badminton courts. The second was last weekend, where a couple of players decided to take some of the eggs from behind the BBQ and once again throw them into the badminton entrance. I don t find this amusing at all. It is giving The Titans a bad name and if it continues I m sure a complaint will be made to council. I picked up the broken glass in the first instance and had the help of Sharleen and Gretchen to mop up the broken eggs on Saturday. We have better things to do with our time than cleaning up after other kids. NO KIDS ARE TO BE ANYWHERE NEAR THE ROAD SIDE OF THE BUILDING OR IN THE CAR- PARK. If you see any of the boys around there, please tell them to move back around the front of the building. Can you please tell the kids to go to the website to view the weekly newsletter. Thanks Sim

Tackling and hit ups were better all round and score would have been bigger has it not been for some try saving tackles. Most importantly there was an improvement from the week before. Tryscorers this week were: Zac Wellfare (1 Try, 1 Goal), Jack Rule (2 Tries, 1 Goal), Ryan Clements (1 Goal), Dane DeCoque (2 tries, 1 Goal), Manesh Pillay (1 Try). A great team effort this week from all the boys. Fantastic defence, and some great tries were scored. Boys you are really starting to play as a team, keep up the good work. Great dummy half try from Jack Rule, and a cracking run down the sideline for Manesh to score a well deserved try. Congratulations to our U7 s again this week, keep up the great work. Hello to all the new faces hope we can have an enjoyable and successful year like last year but it will be tough. We are officially Graded as A Grade and hope we can hold on stay there. It hasn t been a great start to the season with all the rain and not playing through the holidays but it all starts now. We have managed to start with a win but it was a tough win. We got away to a good start and then fell asleep in the middle period and actually didn t score in the last period which made it hard for us. We had to rely on our defence and it was just strong enough, for the record 12 points at the moment is the second highest score we have had recorded against us from last year and this year s results. We are still getting used to our new expanded team so let s see how we go this week. We will need to continue to train hard BOTH nights and make sure we are on our game every weekend, we are starting to miss a lot of goals and need to practise some kicking at home so we don t let valuable points go. Also need to practise the basic stuff like catching, passing and tackling so everyone has to pull their socks up at training. Scorers this week were Ben with 2 x tries and a goal, Luke with 1 x goal, Macca with 1 x Try. Jayden had a rare miss with the boot and will be OK next week.

9 9 U9B ALL PARENTS OF TEAMS PLAYING AT HOME ARE REQUIRED TO HELP ON THE DAY Taren Point Titans St Josephs Titans 26 def Joey s 16 Coach: Shannon Brown Trainer: Steve Page Manager: Bianca Hardman 1 Lachlan Brown 2 Soloman Jock 3 Brae Linnegar 4 Zane Bywater 5 Pantelis Tsoutas 6 Jayden Kordovolos 7 Beau Page 8 Costa Sanidas 9 Jayden Aitken 10 Quinn Fay 11 Patrick Hardman 12 Kane Morris 13 Yianni Karantonis 14 Declan Thornberry 15 Joshua Keith 16 Jayden Aitken 17 Aaron Walters Over the Easter break the 9B s were lucky to have a friendly match against Joey s who took out the inaugural Brown-Thorne cup. So this weeks Round 3 game was a rematch and the Titan s had a very rough start and it seemed like the boys footy heads were not switched on. At the break, the Titan s were down 16-6 and things were not looking good due to our defense and lots of ball handling errors in the first half. During the 2nd half, all the boys dug deep and were able to score some quick points to get yourselves back in the game. You started to play better as a team and carry out what you practice at training. With hard work and a little bit of luck, the boys took the lead and the match much to the delight of a very enthusiastic group of Titan s supporters. It s great to see you having so much fun with your footy boys, that s what its all about. Man of the Match went to Jayden Aitken for some great tackles and a good job in Marker.

10 10 U10B ALL PARENTS OF TEAMS PLAYING AT HOME ARE REQUIRED TO HELP ON THE DAY Taren Point Titans De la Salle Coach: Darren Law Trainer: Patrick Clement Manager: Hope Young Danielle ella 1 Lachlan Seldon 2 Ashley Seldon 3 Daniel ergotis 4 Andreas louhos 5 Bailey Young 6 Blake Clements 7 Cayllum McAlister Was a great game to watch and after a long lay off due to weather and holidays the boys played really well. The game went from end to end after some bruising encounters in the forwards Lochie Seldon ran half the field to score and put us in front. Our fitness showed as we let them in for two late tries in the first half but we were definately playing the better football. Zach Law was really belting the leather with some long kicks and good chases to keep Caringbah deep in their quarter. Defensively a couple of lapses allowed them to score again early but the Titans didn't give up and Callyum once again showed he has the best dummy in the business to sneak across for a couple. A couple of harsh penalties allowed them to score again and at 20 to 18 the boys were out on there feet but still chasing hard. A penalty with 10 seconds to go and three meters out from their line appeared to be our saviour when unfortunately the referee inadvertently called an end to the preceeding without allowing us to take the penalty and the opportunity was lost. Some of the boys definately played out of their skin. Callyum showed the other boys how to tackle pulling off a brilliant around the ankle tackle on the biggest kid in the competition. Lochi Seldon chased all day and dug us out of trouble when we needed it by directing us all around the park. Zach Law played a brilliant forwards role and led from the front at his turn at captain. It was a huge turn around after being trounced by the same side in the trials only a few weeks ago. Each week we are getting better and some intense training with a dry pitch we will only imporve.. Coach Darren Law 8 Zach Law 9 Jackson Matthews 10 Anthony ella 11 Koby Napper 12 Christopher Buzas 13 Caleb Wright 14 Wade Clark 15 Jordan Rumbas 16 Joshua Jock
