Dear Prospective Parade Participant: Our Homecoming Activities will take place during the week of September 17 th through September 21 st, 2018. We look forward to your participation in the parade on Friday September 21 st, at 1:00 PM. This year s theme is Destination Paradise- A Tropical City. Attached you will find the entry forms and information needed for your participation. Please return ALL forms to Danielle Pugh at Hernando High School no later than September 14 th, 2018 (preferably all together at one time per entry). All floats, novelties cars etc. must be sponsored by: a. A class or club with a sponsor signature b. A community organization with a representative of that organizations signature. 2. There is a limit to the number of participants allowed per vehicle: a. Sports Cars Three (3) People b. Sedan Five (5) People c. ½ or ¾ Ton truck Nine (9) People d. Eight (8) costumed parade walkers will be allowed to accompany each float. 3. Drivers of all vehicles must be 21 years of age or older for insurance purposes. Hernando High School Homecoming Parade Entry Form This Entry form and Driver Certification is due to Danielle Pugh no later than September 14 th, 2018. Minimum 8 ft. flatbed trailer. No animals allowed. Novelty/Spirit Car: A decorated parade entry such as a car, truck, boat etc. One allowed per organization. Please refer to the parade participant letter for number of people per entry. There is no charge per entry. We just ask that you have completed/ submitted the proper paper work by the deadline.
NOTE: Political candidates may not participate in the parade as part of an election campaign. School Board Entry Form I understand that all flags, symbols, and decorations used are to be that of the United States, the State of Florida, or Hernando High School. I further attest that, if this policy is not followed, the entry will be eliminated from the parade, and if Hernando High School students are involved, it could mean disciplinary action. Additional Parade Information We ask that you be checked in and be in the lineup for the parade no later than 12:15pm. The parade check in will be on the corner of Oakwood Drive and Varsity Drive. The Lineup will start at this corner and run along Varsity Drive. The parade will begin at approximately 1:00pm and the parade route will follow Oakwood Drive, to Left on Howell Ave, to Left on E. Ft. Dade Ave, to Left on Bell Ave. back to Hernando High School. The parade route is approximately 1 hour. The parade route will have students in attendance from several of our local schools. Please plan accordingly if you are going to pass out candy or goodies for the children along the route. We ask that nothing sharp or potentially dangerous or hazard be handed out. It will be most likely warm during the parade, please bring water for your participants to keep them hydrated. Hernando County School Board Driver Certification Annual Risk-Related Requirements when school buses, public vehicles or charter vehicles are not being used. The School Board authorizes the use of privately owned passenger cars for school sponsored activities when the use of buses is not feasible, i.e. buses are not available, funding is inadequate, or too few students are traveling. It is the principal s/designee s responsibility verify, prior to trip approval, the required information listed below. A travel log must be maintained in the administrator s/principal s files. DRIVER CERTIFICATION I certify that the above-referenced automobile insurance coverage, which includes Personal Injury Protection Benefits, Bodily Injury Liability, and Property Damage, currently in effect and I will immediately notify the program sponsor if such coverage is canceled or non-renewed. I agree to report to the program sponsor any accident or traffic violation incurred-occurring while driving on a school related activity as a soon as possible.
