3 HOMECOMING WEEK ACTIVITIES Below are specific Homecoming guidelines for students concerning the week s theme days and activities. Students who violate the modified uniform privilege lose this privilege for the remainder of the school year as determined by the administration. Specific HOMECOMING Dress Down guidelines. Modified uniform days are privileges occasionally granted to students at the discretion of the administration. The guidelines below do not affect outerwear, as all outerwear must be uniform issued. Hoodies are NOT allowed. Failure to follow the guidelines provided by the administration results in an automatic before-school detention, and the student will forfeit all future modified uniform days. Students may be sent home to change if their attire is deemed offensive or distractive. Dress at school must always conform to the standards of the school: Pajamas are prohibited. Obscene, profane language or provocative pictures on clothing or jewelry are prohibited. Satanic, cult, or gang-related symbolism in any form is prohibited on the school campus and all school functions. Drug-related symbols in any form, including advertisements or promotions of alcohol or tobacco, are prohibited on the school campus. All clothing must be undefiled. At no time may students wear shorts (other than the uniform shorts), short skirts (shorter than two inches above the knee when measured from the back of the knee), low riding pants, jeggings, leggings, sweat pants, shirts that expose cleavage or the midriff during routine movement, halters, shirts with spaghetti straps, or any type of open toe or open heel shoe. Crocs are not allowed. A full shoe is required such as tennis shoes or Sperry s (no open toe or open heel shoes allowed) Students who violate the modified uniform privilege lose this privilege for the remainder of the school year as determined by the administration. NO student is allowed to ride a float without a signed parental consent form DUE no later than Sept 11 to the OFFICE. See attached form. Faculty and staff park in the first two rows of the student parking lot. Sr. Park by the field. Parents/Guests attending the pep rally must park in the empty lot behind the student parking area. All students will be dismissed at 12:50 pm---car riders must be picked up at the gym entrance only. HSM Homecoming Dance, Tickets and Guests Information 5 Homecoming Dance: Out of This World Homecoming The dance is scheduled for Saturday September 15, 2018 8:00 p.m. 11:00 pm, at Alexandria Convention Center (Downtown Alex) Only High School students (9 th -12 th ) are allowed to come to the dance. All students entering and exiting will be given a breathalyzer test and/or a field sobriety test. Holy Savior Menard does not permit the renting of hotel rooms for pre-event or post-event gatherings. The school does not assume responsibility or liability for damages, loss of property, or injury caused when such rental agreements are incurred by the students or their parents. Tickets will be available to pre-purchase during 5 th & 6 th lunch hours Mon, Sept 4 until-tues, Sept 11 The cost of tickets bought at the door and/or after Sept 12 will increase by $5.00 per ticket. Tuesday, Sept. 4, thru Wednesday, Sept 12 SOLD DURING BOTH LUNCHES $20.00 for a Menard Student ticket (each student must have a ticket in order to enter the dance) $25.00 for a Non-Menard Student Guest Pass (students who do not attend Menard). If you bring a guest from another school, you must purchase a Menard student ticket for yourself and a Non-Menard student for your date (total cost-$45.00). Saturday, September 15 AT THE DOOR $25.00 for a Menard Student ticket (each student must have a ticket in order to enter the dance) $30.00 for a Non-Menard Student guest pass (students who do not attend Menard). If you bring a guest from another school, you must purchase a Menard student ticket for yourself and a Non-Menard student for your date (total cost-$55.00). At the dance you will sign your name and the time you enter/exit the dance. This assists us in knowing who is in the building. Once students leave the dance they may not return and must leave the event immediately. Guest Policy: Students may invite no more than one guest. Guest must be at least a Freshman in High School and not over twenty years of age. ID shown at door. All guests are expected to adhere to the same policies and procedures as Menard students. The Menard student and family assume responsibility for the behavior, conduct and appearance of their guests. Your guest may be required to present a valid picture ID upon admittance All students are required to arrive to the dance no later than 9 pm and may not leave until 11 pm.
HIGH SCHOOL DANCE DRESS CODE 6 Students and parents share the responsibility for proper dress and grooming. Students attire should be appropriate, modest and in good taste. Boys Attire: 1. Only Suits or tuxes. Ties are required. 2. Dress shoes must be worn. No sandals or tennis shoes. 3. May not wear earrings, sunglasses, hats, or gloves, nor may they carry canes. 4. Hair must be in compliance with dress guidelines as listed in the Parent-Student handbook refer to www.holysaviormenard.com 5. No shorts. Girls Attire: 1. Dresses should be of an appropriate style for a school function. 2. Semi-formal or formal dresses The top may not be low-cut in the front, may not show bare midriff or sides, and must have three inches of opaque material from the natural waistline in the back. 3. Short dresses may not be shorter than 6 inches from mid-knee. No sheer fabric shorter than 6 inches from mid knee. This includes dresses with high slits in skirts. Slits may NOT be higher than 6 inches from mid knee. 4. Dresses may not show a bare midriff or contain cutouts, which expose the torso (front, back and sides). If there is any cut out in the front or in the back below the waist, OPAQUE fabric must be added to cover the area that is exposed. 5. Dress material, which covers the chest to mid-thigh area, must be opaque and not transparent (mesh or chiffon style material is not permitted over this part of the body). 6. If a two-piece dress is worn, the fabric must meet at the waist. Again, no bare midriff in the front, back and sides. 7. Other than earrings, no other visible body piercings are allowed. 8. Dress shoes or dress sandals must be worn at all times, so make sure they are comfortable. 9. Sunglasses may not be worn. Homecoming Court members will be given guidelines for their attire separately. Their dance attire must meet the same guidelines, except boys must wear tuxes. DO NOT ASSUME ANY LIBERTIES WITH THESE GUIDELINES WHEN YOU OR YOUR DATE PURCHASES OR RENTS HOMECOMING ATTIRE. ANYONE NOT ADHERING TO ANY OF THE ABOVE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE DANCE AND WILL BE SENT HOME. THE SCHOOL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ADMITTANCE TO ANY PERSON NOT PROPERLY ATTIRED OR FOR ANY REASON DEEMED BY FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION. 7 HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING DANCE DRESS CODE POLICY All young men and women in attendance at the Homecoming dance, whether a member of the HSM student body or a guest of a Menard student, must dress in attire that adheres to the policy listed below. Claims that a dress or other attire was worn at last year s Homecoming or Prom will not be discussed. Full cooperation from students and their parents on this issue is required. Girls Attire: Read BEFORE purchasing a dress. 1. Dresses should be of an appropriate style for a school function. 2. Dresses should not be excessively tight. 3. The top may not be low-cut in the front, may not show bare midriff or sides. The lowest point of the neckline should not show cleavage or extend below the underarm, with or without shear fabric overlay. 4. Dresses may not show a bare midriff or contain cutouts, which expose the torso (front, back and sides). 5. Two-piece gowns are NOT allowed regardless of how much or little skin is showing. 6. Short dresses may not be shorter than 3 inches from the knee (same as uniform skirt/skort length). 7. Slits in dresses should not be shorter than 3 inches from the knee (same as uniform skirt/skort length). 8. Other than earrings, no other visible body piercings are allowed. 9. Tattoos should not be visible on any part of the body. Select dress styles that ensure tattoos will be covered the entire evening. 10. Dress shoes or dress sandals must be worn at all times, so make sure they are comfortable. 11. Sunglasses may not be worn. 12. Flesh tone fabrics (Sheer or solid), designed to give the illusion of bare skin (with the purpose of appearing see through or cut-out); are not allowed. 13. The lowest point of the gown back should not extend below the natural crease of the waistline, (smallest part of the waist when bent to one side), with or without shear fabric overlay. 14. It is not the responsibility of a salesperson or alternations professional to decide what will or will not be okay. Decisions will be based strictly on Homecoming Dance Dress Code Policy as defined in this document. 15. No cover-ups (coats, shawls, sweaters) will be allowed over dresses that do not meet dress code. Boys Attire: 1. Only suits, tuxes, or sports coats with dress pants are required. 2. Homecoming Parade Release and Waiver Form 14 IMPORTANT!!!! Due: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 to the Front Office Dear Parents, In order for your child to participate in the 2018 Homecoming parade activities, this waiver must be signed and returned to the front office by Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Whether your child is walking the route, riding on a float, riding on court parade vehicles, or any other type of moving equipment during the parade this waiver must be signed and returned to the Menard Front Office by Tuesday, September 11, 2018.
